ECW: Elimination Chase continues
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: One day removed from the WWE Draft, ECW embraces its lone acquisition -- Vladimir Kozlov! Plus, the Elimination Chase to Backlash continues, as Christian, Finlay and Tommy Dreamer battle in a triple threat match. The non-losers will meet in the finals Thursday on Superstars. Should be a good one!

And we are "LIVE!" from Knoxville, TN. Josh Mathews and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.) vs. Evan Bourne (St. Louis, MO)

Well, this is quite the way to start ECW. And Striker gets in his first Josh Mathews nose bleed joke.

Morrison works a conservative game plan to start, keeping the match on the ground but Morrison gets running off the ropes and loses the game plan, as Bourne hits a heck of an arm-drag.

Bourne goes to pick Morrison up but Morrison throws him into the middle rope. These two are going tit-for-tat but Morrison gains a huge advantage when, with Bourne sitting on the apron, Morrison runs at him and lands a huge running knee, sending Bourne violently to the floor.

Morrison then applies a modified Torture Rack but Bourne someone uses a modified headscissors to escape, sending Morrison to the floor. Bourne goes to follow up and runs off the ropes, but Morrison slips back in the ring and dropkicks Bourne's knee.

Bourne keeps trying to fire up but each time Morrison has an answer. He works a modified standing crossface. He is really cranking it and Bourne, unlike Morrison, does not have an answer. He holds it for so long that the official considered checking his arm. After being grounded, Bourne manages to get up and runs Morrison into the corner. He kicks Morrison in the gut and then lands a big clothesline on a charging Morrison.

Bourne hits a dropkick for two. He throws Morrison into the corner and lifts him to the top turnbuckle. Morrison hits him off, but Bourne just jumps straight up for the headscissors. He gets a two count.

Morrison goes to go off the rope but Bourne follows him and topples him over the top rope, going with him to the floor.

Bourne throws Morrison back in and goes to the top and hits his flying knee drop for two.

Bourne lands two kicks to the chest, but Morrison blocks the third and goes for the Moonlight Drive but is countered. He knees Morrison in the face and drags him to the corner. He climbs to the top for the Shooting Star Press but Morrison shoots up and lands a head kick, crotching Bourne. Morrison grabs the reeling Bourne, who is being held up by the top turnbuckle, and hits a Super Moonlight Drive for the win.

Winner via pinfall: John Morrison

Great match. Back and forth action all the way through.

Match #2 - Vladimir Kozlov (Moscow, Russia) vs. David Floridia (Knoxville, Tenn.)

Kozlov lands a boot to the mid-section to start and then start pummeling his over-matched opponent. Kozlov hits a fall-away slam and then starts administering headbutts to the chest and shortly thereafter, it's over.

Winner via pinfall: Vladimir Kozlov

Well, at least it was short.

Oh sweet lord, he has a mic. He says he has dominated everywhere, ECW will be no different.

Hornswaggle and Finlay are warming up backstage in preparation for the Elimination Chase to Backlash.

Tiffany is backstage with Paul Burchill and Katie Lea. They are concerned about being split up in the supplemental draft. Tiffany tells them everyone is eligible. They leave and in comes ECW Champion Jack Swagger. He has an idea for her. He says this Thursday on WWE Superstars there should be a Q&A session with himself. Tiffany says this is interesting, but this week will be the finals for the Elimination Chase to Backlash.

Match #3 - Elimination Chase to Backlash - Christian (Toronto, Ontario) vs. Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) vs. Finlay (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

This is quite the international three-way dance.

All three go at it in the early-going. Dreamer is actually getting the best of it, but can't muster more than a one count. Dreamer charges at Finlay and both end up going over the top to the floor. Christian sees this, goes to the top rope and jumps onto them.

We're back and Christian is heading to the top rope to attach Dreamer but he is pushed off and onto the floor by Finlay.

Finlay works a chinlock on Dreamer and continues to go to work as Christian is slow to recover on the outside. Then Christian comes out of nowhere, but Dreamer drop-toe holds Christian onto Finlay.

Christian recovers and goes to the top but is stopped by Finlay. Dreamer comes in and becomes the one to superplex Dreamer as Finlay is caught upside down on the rope. Dreamer puts Finlay in the Tree of Woe and hits the dropkick. He goes in for more but Finlay sidesteps him and sends him to the outside. Finlay stalks Christian but Christian rolls him up for two.

Finlay sends Christian out of the ring and Dreamer comes in and hits the DDT but Finlay kicks out at two. Christian gets back in and goes for the Killswitch on Dreamer, but he counters. Dreamer back-elbows him and he gets locked up in the ropes. Dreamer schoolboys Finlay for two. Finlay reverses a Death Valley Driver attempt into the Celtic Cross for the pin.

Eliminated from the Elimination Chase to Backlash: Tommy Dreamer

Finlay and Christian will now meet in the Chase Final on Superstars on Thursday. The winner will face Jack Swagger at Backlash.
