Cheers or jeers for 'Mania?
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

Could it be possible that The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels would tear the place down and WrestleMania 25 would still be labelled a disappointment?

There was a great Money in the Bank ladder match, even with a couple of missed spots, and a gritty toe-to-toe battle with Matt Hardy outlasting his brother Jeff.

There was Ricky Steamboat's tremendous performance (geez, he was as good as many of the show's much-younger performers) as one of the WWE legends in the ring against Chris Jericho. And it was a terrific moment when Mickey Rourke closed Jericho's yap with a left jab.

We got to see JBL yell "I quit!" into a microphone after he was pinned seconds into his match against Rey Mysterio. Yep, there was plenty to cheer about after you'd plunked down your cash on the hefty pay-per-view fee. But we were left wanting more.

Especially after John Cena's less-than-inspiring title win over Big Show and Edge in a three-way dance. And even moreso after Triple H's victory over Randy Orton, an anti-climactic continuation of their feud. It wasn't a bad pay-per-view. Far from it. Maybe The Undertaker-Michaels should have closed the curtain on the show. Maybe that was the problem. Or maybe some of WWE's key performers either didn't have enough to work with or just didn't come up big when WWE needed them the most.

AROUND THE RING

Batista returned to RAW, saving The McMahons and Triple H from Randy Orton and his goons ... You have to love Santino Marella, who won the Diva Battle Royal as Santina ... Carlito and Primo won the unified tag belts from The Miz and John Morrison ... Vickie Guerrero is now the RAW GM, Teddy Long takes over on Smackdown! and Tiffany is running ECW ... Reader Nick Jones wonders about a wrestler named SINN (Nick Cvjetkovich). He was on the WWE roster as Kizarny, but was recently released. He will be part of an upcoming Jim Rose Circus vs. Jake "The Snake" Roberts tour.
