ECW: Christian goes for Swagger's silver
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: Two weeks after making his return to WWE, Christian is already challenging for the ECW Championship. With two wins over champion Jack Swagger in the past two weeks, would the third time also be the charm for Captain Charisma? Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Nashville, Tenn. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - DJ Gabriel (Rockingham, England) vs. Mark Henry (Silsbee, Texas)

Great, DJ Gabriel makes his return to TV only to be squashed by Mark Henry. Isn't this just super. At least we got some dancing in before the match. Although now that I think about it, wouldn't these two make a hilarious comedy tag team. Imagine these two accompanied by Tony Atlas and Alicia Fox. Pure gold.

Henry is just working him over in the early going. But Gabriel fires up with some dropkicks and hits a double-axhandle from the second rope that staggers Henry. He then goes to the top rope but is caught on his way down right into a World's Strongest Slam. Ugh.

Winner via pinfall: Mark Henry

Match #2 - Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta) vs. Matt Boyce (190 pounds/86 kg)

If you want to imagine Matt Boyce, think "Sunshine" from Remember the Titans.

Kidd works his kicks to perfection yet again. He hits a downward elbow to Boyce's nose and locks in a reverse triangle choke. He lets go and hits a jumping kick into the springboard elbow (the most impressive looking one yet) and that's all she wrote.

Winner via pinfall: Tyson Kidd

Coming next week: Tyson Kidd jobs to Mark Henry.

Match #3 - Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) vs. Paul Burchill (Chelsea, England)

Dreamer gets off to a good start, clotheslining Burchill out of the ring. On the inside, he misses an elbow drop and Burchill starts putting the boots to him.

Dreamer whips Burchill into a corner but eats an elbow. Burchill goes to the top but is caught by Dreamer, who catapults him into the corner. He puts him in the tree of woe. He charges, but Katie Lea pulls him out of the way. When this happens, Katie falls down and The Boogeyman's music hits. He has her foot. She pulls away and is stalked down. This distracts Paul, allowing Dreamer to sneak up and hit the DDT for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Tommy Dreamer

DREAMER WINS! DREAMER WINS! DREAMER WINS! Seriously, I can't remember this guy beating anyone since the good ol' Colin Delaney/Armando Estrada days.

Match #4 - ECW Championship - (c) Jack Swagger (Perry, Okla.) vs. Christian (Toronto, Ontario)

Christian tries for a sunset flip but Swagger picks him up by the throat and slams him into the corner. He starts throwing Christian from pillar to post but Christian gets a foot up and then low bridges Swagger to the outside. When Swagger gets up, Christian springboards off the middle rope to the outside, taking out the champ.

(Ads -- get your Snuggie! You know, if WWE still allowed its wrestlers to bleed, doing a promotional tie-in with the Shamwow to clean it up would be gold. Except Vince would have to battle the guy for the headset to say "you followin' me cameraman?")

We're back and Swagger clubs Christian and hits a Vader Bomb for two. With Christian stumbling on the apron, Swagger runs off the ropes and shoulderblocks Christian right onto the floor. Impressive spot.

Christian goes into the steel steps and gets back into the ring at the count of eight. Swagger slams him and works a hammerlock. Swagger goes to work with an armbar/shoulderlock but Christian reverses. He goes off the ropes but runs right into a shoulderbreaker (twice).

We're back and the tide has turned as Christian has Swagger in a sleeper. But that doesn't last long. Swagger locks up a front face lock. He lets go and Christian slaps him. Swagger puts Christian on the top turnbuckle but Christian kicks away and hits a missile dropkick. Christian starts going to work. He drop-toe holds Swagger onto the middle rope and stands on Swagger and pulls the top rope. Christian goes for a flying headbutt but misses.

Swagger hits a Northern Lights Suplex for two. They trade reversals on their finishers and Christian hits a reverse DDT for two. Swagger hits a belly-to-belly for two. Swagger sees Christian down and goes for a Vader Bomb but Christian gets the knees up. Christian hits a flying sunset flip for two.

Christian goes to the top rope but Swagger leaps up to stop him, but Christian punches him off. Chrisitan hits the flying headbutt for a long two. Christian stalks Swagger, but Swagger pulls him into the middle turnbuckle. He goes after Christian but eats an elbow. Christian hits a tornado DDT off the middle turnbuckle for two.

Christian goes for the Killswitch but Swagger pushes him into the ring post. He goes for the gut-wrench powerbomb, but Christian reverses. He goes for the Killswitch again but Swagger reverses into the gut-wrench for the win in the middle of the ring.

Winner via pinfall AND STILL ECW Champion: Jack Swagger

That was a great match, particularly the final six minutes or so. Check it out on WWE.com when they post it.
