ECW: Christian inches closer to title
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: Jack Swagger retained the ECW Championship at No Way Out, defeating Finlay. Now, he turns his attention to his next challenge: Christian, who returned last week, beat Swagger in the main event. They will meet for the title next week, but this week they each find a tag team partner for the main event. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from Spokane, Wash. Todd Grisham and Matt Striker are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-PG,V).

Match #1 - The Boogeyman (The Bottomless Pit) vs. Paul Burchill (Chelsea, England)

Burchill gets off to a fast start, but Boogey turns the tide with a clothesline. He throws Burchill chest-first into the turnbuckle and then hits him with the big splash. Boogey hits a bodyslam and goes over to the worms in the corner. Burchill recovers and rolls him up.

Winner via pinfall: Paul Burchill

Match #2 - John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.) vs. Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.)

Dreamer quickly sends Morrison to the outside. A distraction by The Miz allows Morrison to pull Dreamer head-over-heels to the floor. Ouch.

Dreamer hits a neckbreaker and a back-body drop on Morrison. He follows that up with a bulldog. Morrison misses a springboard kick and Dreamer throws Morrison flat on his face for two. Dreamer goes to the top but is crotched by Morrison.

Morrison goes up for a superplex but Dreamer pushes him off. Dreamer positions himself on the second rope for a flying ax handle, but Morrison boots him in the gut and hits the Moonlight Drive for the win.

Winner via pinfall: John Morrison

Finlay and Hornswaggle are warming up backstage when Christian walks in. Hornswaggle towel-whips him. Christian wants to make sure Hornswaggle won't be a distraction in the main event tonight. Finlay assumes him he will not be and to keep his end up.

Match #3 - Tyson Kidd (Calgary, Alberta) vs. Caden Mathews (200 pounds)

Kidd hits a huge knee and a dropkick for two. He hits a snapmare and a kick to the back and then chest for another two count. He charges at Mathews in the corner, but Mathews hits a back elbow.

This doesn't phase Kidd much, though, as he rebounds to hit a guillotine legdrop over the bottom rope and then the springboard elbow drop for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Tyson Kidd

Dreamer is backstage when he finds a Ricky O Rally Towel over his shoulder. Ricky Ortiz gives Dreamer a pep talk and tells him to rally up.

Match #4 - Mark Henry (Silsbee, Texas) & Jack Swagger (Perry, Okla.) vs. Christian (Toronto, Ontario) & Finlay (Belfast, Northern Ireland)

Henry lays out Finlay with a clothesline on the outside. Back in the ring, Swagger is all over him before tagging in Henry, who hits a vicious headbutt on Finlay.

Swagger and Henry utilize quick tags to neutralize Finlay while keeping him away from Christian. They are really working Finlay over. Henry goes to hit some type of back flop on Finlay, but Finlay moves and is able to get the tag to Christian.

Christian runs amuck early but Swagger grabs him for a belly-to-belly to slow him down. But Christian comes back. He goes to the top rope but Swagger stops him but gets pushed off. Henry comes in and picks up Christian but Hornswaggle grabs Henry's leg. While the ref runs off Hornswaggle, Finlay nails Henry with the Shelleigah, but Swagger hits Finlay, knocking him out of the ring. Swagger grabs Christian for the gutwrench powerbomb, but Christian gets out and hits the Killswitch (former Unprettier) for the win.

Winners via pinfall: Christian and Finlay
