Orton, Mafia running wild
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun
Geez, I go away for a week, watch no wrestling or any other sort of TV programming, and all hell breaks loose.
The Main Event Mafia flexes its muscle on TNA Impact and Randy Orton threatens to sue WWE and stop Wrestlemania from happening.
With apologies to the nWo, DX, Four Horsemen and others, I like the Main Event Mafia schtick. It may seem disjointed at times, but it adds a little spice. Hard to believe the notion that a handful of guys could take over an organization, but it's a good idea.
As for WWE, Orton is rising to new maniacal levels. There are still rumblings that Orton will be the opposition if Stone Cold Steve Austin goes through with his retirement match at Wrestlemania. Wouldn't it be ironic if Austin stepped up on Vince McMahon's behalf to face Orton?
I just can't imagine how losing the match would help Orton's career. Just like how I still find it hard to believe that WWE would allow The Big Show to roll over for that punk Floyd Mayweather at last year's Wrestlemania.
FLAIR BACK IN NEWS
Responding to comments by Chris Jericho, Ric Flair will be at RAW on Monday. Flair is also involved with a set of Donruss cards, being produced in conjunction with EA Sports' Command and Conquer video game.
PCW Wrestling will have a show tonight, at 8 p.m., at the Jim Durrell Arena (1265 Walkley Rd). Scheduled matches are: The Hickster vs. Roy Toy Stevens and Caster McFear vs. Max Alexander. Also on the card: The Hollywood Hunks, Wild Ace, The Angry Amish Man and many more.
AROUND THE RING
Orton will face The Undertaker on Monday's RAW ... With WWE's increasing emphasis on family entertainment, word is there be will no diva appearance in the April Playboy. What a shame! It doesn't seem like so long ago that the women sometimes wound up near naked in the ring, too ... Mickey Rourke vs. Jericho. Wow! What a Wrestlemania showdown! But it now seems unlikely to happen.
