Impact: A final build to Against All Odds
By CHRIS & BRYAN SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

We are just a few days away from Against All Odds, and it appears as though the Main Event Mafia is shaken. With Samoa Joe on his way back and Team 3D leading the Frontline strong, the Mafia looks to make some last minute examples on Impact, as Kurt Angle and Sting take on Brother Ray and Brother Devon in the tag team main event.

The show began with a recap of the feud between Sting, Kurt Angle and Team 3D. They also showed clips of Kurt Angle beating LAX and Samoa Joe's return vignette.

The TNA Impact opener came on, followed by the usual Mike Tenay and Don West intro.

The Main Event Mafia made their way into the Impact Zone, with Kurt Angle in the lead position and Sting in the way back. Kevin Nash grabbed the mic and talked about Samoa Joe disrespecting Scott Hall. He went on to say that Joe would be taken care of. Kurt Angle took the mic next and hinted some dissension between he and Sting. He said that we will find out what might happen at Against All Odds in the tag team main event. He said that the Mafia was about earning respect and that he and the other members haven't forgotten that. He vowed to keep the TNA Heavyweight Championship within the Mafia, no matter what he had to do.

Backstage, Lauren spoke to Team 3D, who put over how good Kurt Angle was. They mentioned how he tried to have them soften up Sting last week, so they vowed to make sure he worked the whole match by himself later on and was not allowed to tag in Sting.

A Rough Cuts segment was shown on Kiyoshi.

In the backstage area, Lauren spoke to Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed, who will be taking on Beer Money Inc. for the TNA Tag Team Championships at Against All Odds.

The Motor City Machine Guns came out for their match with Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed. Beer Money Inc. ran out and attacked them before they could make it to the ring. The Guns watched on as Beer Money Inc. took Creed's arm and wrapped it around the ringpost, hitting it with a steel chair.

After a commercial break, Jay Lethal got in the ring and took on the Motor City Machine Guns.

Match One - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. Jay Lethal and Eric Young

Jay Lethal started the match on his own, but Eric Young ran in and took Consequences Creed's place. After some back and forth action, Young hit the DVD on Alex Shelley and got the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall - Jay Lethal and Eric Young

After the match, Alex Shelley challenged Eric Young to a TNA X Division Championship match at Against All Odds. Young accepted and said that he would take on Shelley, as long as Chris Sabin wasn't at ringside.

Mike Tenay and Don West went over the card for Against All Odds.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash stood by as Jim Cornette argued with the Kongtoruage. He told them that they would not be allowed to be in Awesome Kong's corner at Against All Odds. Sojournor Bolt went off on Cornette and told him that she would take care of him the next time she saw him without his "cracker jack" around. She of course was referring to Borash. As the Kongtourage left, Cornette complained about his blood pressure as Booker T and Sharmell walked in. Booker asked to referee a match later on, but Cornette told him that he would have to wait until Against All Odds to go at it with referee, Shane Sewell.

Lauren spoke to The Beautiful People and Cute Kip, who went on a rant about what they are going to do to Roxxi and Taylor Wilde.

Match Two - Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Shane Sewell

Booker T was looking to referee this match, but Mark "Slick" Johnson was used instead. They talked about how Rudy Charles and Andrew Thomas were injured in their match against Booker T, but Charles was given medical clearance to return. During the match, Johnson got bumped by Sheik Abdul Bashir and Booker T made his way to the ring in a referee's shirt. Charles and Earl Hebner tried to stop him, but he entered anyway. Shane Sewell hit a high crossbody on Bashir and had the pin, but Booker T kicked him in the head, ending the match in a no contest.

Winner - No Contest

After the match, Booker T and Shane Sewell got into a brawl, which was broken up by referees and security.

Jeremy Borash caught up with Sting, who said he wasn't sure where he stood with Kurt Angle. He said that if anyone else won the four way, the TNA Heavyweight Championship would be tarnished. Borash asked if he was directing that comment at Angle, but Sting just walked away.

They recapped what happened between the Sarah Palin impersonator and The Beautiful People.

Match Three - The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) w/ Cute Kip vs. Roxxi and Taylor Wilde

This was pretty much a brawl, that saw Velvet Sky get the pin on Roxxi.

Winners Via Pinfall - The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky)

After the match, The Beautiful People and Cute Kip gave Roxxi and Taylor Wilde the brown bag treatment. "Sarah Palin" ran to the ring and made the save, hitting Cute Kip with a low blow and tossing the Beautiful People to the floor.

Another Rough Cuts segment was shown on Kiyoshi.

Mike Tenay and Don West hyped the rest of Impact.

Match Four - Shark Boy vs. Brutus Magnus

Brutus Magnus was able to avoid the Clammer and hit Shark Boy with a spinning TKO for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Brutus Magnus

After the match, Brutus Magnus issued an open challenge for Against All Odds. This will probably be answered by Kiyoshi.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Kurt Angle, who was with Main Event Mafia security. Angle said that he was going to prove he could hold his own in the tag team main event.

A recap of the feud between Abyss and Matt Morgan was shown.

Match Five - Matt Morgan vs. Rhino

This was a back and forth match. Rhino attempted the Gore, but Matt Morgan leapfrogged him. Morgan went to the outside and got a chair, but Abyss came to the ring with thumbtacks and broken glass. Morgan and Abyss brawled, with Abyss hitting the Black Hole Slam. He went for a chokeslam onto the tacks and broken glass, but Morgan slipped away and retreated to the backstage area.

Winner - No Contest

Abyss got on the mic and called out Matt Morgan. He drove his hands into the thumbtacks and broken glass. He said that at Against All Odds, he was going to beat Morgan up and down in the No Holds Barred match.

In his office, Mick Foley spoke to Jeremy Borash, who asked about Jeff Jarrett's condition. Foley told Borash he could ask how he's doing himself, next week on Impact.

Match Six - Sting and Kurt Angle vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Kurt Angle did wind up taking on Team 3D by himself, as Sting stood on the ring apron. During the match, Angle asked Sting for his help. Team 3D was able to hit the Doomsday Device on Angle and had the pin, but Sting distracted referee, Earl Hebner, until the Main Event Mafia came out and beat on 3D for the disqualification.

Winners Via Disqualification - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

As Team 3D fought back, Sting watched on from the outside. Team 3D took out the Mafia, as Kurt Angle and Sting argued at ringside. The rest of the Mafia separated them, as Team 3D looked on with smiles.

They hyped Against All Odds to round out another episode of Impact.

Chris and Bryan Sokol are from Long Island, NY and will be covering Against All Odds for SLAM! Wrestling.
