Impact: Mafia shatters an ankle before Genesis
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

With Genesis on the horizon, TNA makes one more stop at the Impact Zone in sunny, Orlando, FL for tonight's edition of Impact! On tap, Kurt Angle goes up against BG James, Awesome Kong competes in Knockouts action and Beer Money Inc. defends the tag gold against Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed.

Mike Tenay and Don West opened the show with the usual rundown and pitched it to the ring for the opening contest.

Match One - TNA X Division Championship Semi-Finals Match - Alex Shelley w/ Chris Sabin vs. Eric Young

Alex Shelley had things going his way and almost won the match with a second rope DDT. Eric Young fought back, but the odds caught up with him, as he was sent into a Chris Sabin kick that left him prone to the Sliced Bread from Shelley to give Shelley the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Alex Shelley

After the match, Sheik Abdul Bashir came down the ramp and attacked referee Shane Sewell leading to a brawl between the two. Referee Earl Hebner came out with Jim Cornette, who said he would honor his word and fire Sewell for putting his hands on a TNA wrestler. Cornette then yelled at Bashir for causing the fight and said that as of Genesis, Sewell was back on the TNA payroll as a wrestler and he would be taking on Bashir.

The Main Event Mafia was shown making their way to the ring.

The Main Event Mafia entered the Impact Zone, with Kurt Angle talking about how he was going to defeat Jeff Jarrett at Genesis and end his career, but later on Impact, he was going to take out Jarrett's friend, BG James. Jarrett was shown looking on in his locker room. Sting said that he had nothing personal against Rhino, until he sided against the Mafia. He then said that it would be showtime at Genesis. Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner and Booker T talked about Mick Foley and Nash said they didn't have to wait to take out Jarrett and Foley. Booker said that the Frontline belonged to the Main Event Mafia.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley in their office. Before Jarrett and Foley could respond to Borash, AJ Styles and Brother Devon rushed in and said they had their backs. Devon gave Foley Brother Ray's plaid vest and said Ray wanted him to have it. Styles told Jarrett that because of TNA, he can do what he loves for a living and said that he's going to be behind Jarrett no matter what.

Lauren was shown out on a farm with "Sarah Palin" and The Beautiful People. Palin told them that they needed to do some charity work in order to get to the White House and said that they had to shovel and recycle horse manure. Velvet Sky threw up as we get sent back to the Impact Zone.

Match Two - Madison Rayne vs. Awesome Kong w/ Riesha Saeed, Rhaka Kahn and Sojournor Bolt

Awesome Kong came to the ring holding an 8x10 of Christy Hemme. Kong squashed Madison Rayne, throwing her to the outside and letting Sojournor Bolt throw her back into the ring. Kong hit the Kong Bomb and got the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Awesome Kong

Lauren spoke to Abyss, who said that Matt Morgan was mad at him. Abyss promised to make things right at Genesis, even if it meant going back to his old self. He scared Lauren, but apologized to her and was glad she wasn't mad at him.

Back from a commercial break, Lauren was shown with LAX, who said that they were happy to have their Feast or Fired cases and that they weren't going to break up.

Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the card for Genesis.

Jeremy Borash caught up with the Motor City Machine Guns, who said that they weren't going to break up, before making a whole bunch of snide remarks about Mick Foley, including Alex Shelley saying that he mistook Foley for Duke "The Dumpster" Droese, since he smells like garbage. Mick Foley came in and made fun of the Guns and told them not to sandbag it at Genesis, or they would be sent packing back to Detroit.

A package was shown to highlight TNA's 2008.

A Rough Cuts segment was shown on Beer Money Inc.

Match Three - Robert Roode w/ James Storm and Jackie Moore vs. Matt Morgan w/ Abyss

Matt Morgan used his power in this match. Robert Roode tried to bail, but got grabbed and rammed head first into James Storm by Abyss. Referee Rudy Charles was distracted with Abyss on the ramp, allowing Jackie Moore to get involved and rake the eyes of Morgan to give Roode the advantage. Roode eventually got sent with a backbody drop over the top rope to the floor and landed wrong. Roode told the referee he couldn't continue and therefore the match was stopped.

Winner Via Referee Stoppage - Matt Morgan

After the match was stopped, Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed came out with their briefcase from the Feast or Fired match. After a commercial break, Lethal grabbed the mic and said that since the champions were in perfect health, they were going to cash in their case.

Match Four - TNA Tag Team Championship Match - Consequences Creed and Jay Lethal vs. Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) w/ Jackie Moore (C)

This was a good match. Robert Roode tried to level Jay Lethal with the briefcase, but was dropkicked in the knee, causing him to land face first on the case. Lethal then picked up the case and slammed James Storm with it, allowing Lethal to make the cover and get the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall and NEW TNA Tag Team Champions - Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed

Back from the commercial break, highlights were shown from the title change. Lauren was in the Frontline locker room for the post match celebration. Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed have a new catchpharse, "The Consequences Will Be Lethal." They say that AJ Styles, Brother Devon and Rhino have been inspirations to them. Devon says that he's proud of them and that they know what's at stake at Genesis. Lauren says it's their moment and to enjoy it.

Jeff Jarrett was shown trying to talk BG James out of his match with Kurt Angle, but James said he was going to shut Angle up and do what he had to do for Jarrett's family.

Back on the farm, "Sarah Palin" told the Beautiful People to stop complaining and said they can't get by on their looks in Washington. She said that next week they would sign the documents to join her cabinet and would be on their way to the White House. They celebrated, slipped and fell in the horse manure.

Match Five - BG James vs. Kurt Angle

BG James hid in the entranceway and attacked Kurt Angle as he made his entrance. This was a great match, that saw Angle backbody drop BG James and cartwheel into transition for the Ankle Lock. James fought to the ropes, but got pulled away, as Angle grapevined the leg and forced James to tap out.

Winner Via Submission - Kurt Angle

After the match, the Main Event Mafia came to the ring with a steel chair and helped Kurt Angle shatter BG James' ankle with it. Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley ran in to make the save as the Mafia backed out. Medical officials and security came out, as Angle promised to break Jarrett's ankle at Genesis. Back from a commercial break, James was shown being carried off on a stretcher. Jeff Jarrett was shown sitting in the middle of the ring with Mick Foley, Brother Devon and AJ Styles around him. Jarrett vowed to defeat Angle at Genesis and said he was ashamed at what happened to his friend, BG James. Mick Foley grabbed the mic and promised that the Frontline was going to bring the fight to Genesis and said that for one night, he was going to be as good as he ever was. Jarrett gave him a big hug, as a package was shown highlighting the Main Event Mafia's path of destruction and hyping Genesis.

Chris and Bryan Sokol are from Long Island, NY and will be covering the Genesis PPV.
