TNA cards have The Write Stuff
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

No. 78 in the set.

Many, many moons ago, I dreamed I would be on a trading card.

I'd be hunched over into my batting stance, bat cocked, a silly grin sweeping over my face.

Yes, I dreamed I'd be a major-league baseball player. Only a lack of skills and talent got in the way.

But years later, my name is on a trading card. Oh, it's in very small print ... and it's not on a baseball card.

A couple of months ago, TNA Wrestling asked me to pick a wrestler and write a 60-word-or-so blurb which would appear on its 100-card Cross the Line set.

Without blinking, I picked Christian Cage -- a good Canadian kid (real name Jay Reso from Orangeville, Ont.). It's been rumoured that Christian is returning to WWE, but that doesn't dampen my enthusiasm that my name is on his card, No. 78 in the set ... one of 10 cards in The Write Stuff subset scripted by a collection of wrestling reporters.

The TNA cards, from Tristar Productions, feature subsets: Insanity, TNA Debut, Six Years of Glory, Getting to Know, Muscles ... Ink, TNA Rivals, Drawn to TNA. Autograph cards are also randomly inserted.

There are other giveaways as well.

AROUND THE RING

Scott Steiner likely won't be on Ric Flair's Christmas card list anytime soon. Steiner told the Miami Herald: "Ric Flair would rather wrestle in front of 200 people and have the belt than wrestle in front of 200,000 people and not have the belt. He's a piece of s---." As for Triple H, Steiner said: "He wouldn't even be in this business, if he wasn't f------ the boss' daughter." ... Batista is expected to be out until June after having Boxing Day surgery for a partial hamstring tear ... Rumours won't go away that Christian will return to WWE in the middle of a storyline with Edge and Jeff Hardy ... Chris Jericho says his current character was inspired by No Country for Old Men bad guy Anton Chigurh.
