Impact: Brother Ray gets dumped
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
Final Resolution is in the rear view mirror, as we look ahead towards Genesis. Tonight on Impact, the war between the Main Event Mafia and The Frontline takes another leap forward, as Kurt Angle does battle with Brother Ray, in a match where the loser's team must disband.
The show began with a recap of Final Resolution, followed by some hype from Mike Tenay and Don West.
The Main Event Mafia entered the Impact Zone and Kurt Angle grabbed the mic. Angle talked about how he will defeat Jeff Jarrett at Genesis. AJ Styles interrupted and told Angle that he is in for a fight with Jarrett. Styles then turned his attention to Sting and called him out for cheating at Final Resolution. Angle interrupted Styles and told him to come to the ring and fight Sting if he had a problem with him. Styles told the Mafia to leave so he could handle his beef with Sting, but the Mafia got involved, leading to a beatdown on Styles. The Frontline came out and made the save, as Angle grabbed the mic and vowed to take out a member of the Frontline on Impact.
Jeremy Borash spoke to Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett in the locker room area. Jarrett said that Kurt Angle got away with what he did at Final Resolution and that from here on out, Jarrett was back on the TNA roster and focused. He told Foley that he has all the stroke in TNA now. Foley told Jarrett that as his first order of business, he was going to visit the Main Event Mafia.
Mike Tenay and Don West talked about revealing the Feast or Fired briefcases later on. They also talked about the TNA X Division title tournament, then pitched it to Lauren.
Lauren was standing by with The Motor City Machine Guns, who said that they know they are targets. Alex Shelley talked about getting attacked by Suicide at Final Resolution and asked if he needed a cheat code to stop him. He went on to say that they were going to make it their personal quest to win the TNA X Division title.
Match One - TNA X Division Championship Quater-Final Match - Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Eric Young
Sheik Abdul Bashir had with him the bloody headdress that he used to choke out referee Shane Sewell at Final Resolution. This was a good match, that saw Bashir get into it with referee Earl Hebner, leading to Hebner shoving him and Eric Young hitting a bridging Northern Lights suplex for the win.
Winner Via Pinfall - Eric Young
Lauren was in the Frontline's locker room, where Brother Ray rallied the troops. Brother Ray even drank from ODB's flask. After some motivational words, Ray told the Frontline that he was going to go out and make Kurt Angle and offer he couldn't refuse.
After a commercial break, Jeremy Borash hyped the TNA Mobile Service, then caught Mick Foley coming out of the Main Event Mafia locker room. Foley was laughing and shaking hands with the Mafia and when Borash asked Foley what was going on, Foley told him that he had forgotten how much fun the Mafia was to hang out with.
Lauren stood by as the Beautiful People and Cute Kip sat with "Gov. Sarah Palin." They talked about how Palin was considering them for her cabinet. Palin then took them to get a makeover.
A promo was shown to hype the debut of Brutus Magnus in TNA.
Match Two - TNA X Division Championship Quarter-Final Match - Alex Shelley w/ Chris Sabin vs. Jay Lethal
Chris Sabin got involved here, with Jay Lethal diving to the outside to take him out. This gave Alex Shelley an opportunity to gather his bearings and mount a comeback on Lethal, putting him away with the Kryptonite Krunch.
Winner Via Pinfall - Alex Shelley
After the match, Chris Sabin grabbed the mic and called out Mick Foley to give them a TNA Tag Team Championship match. Instead, Suicide appeared and took out the Motor City Machine Guns. Suicide even hit the DOA finisher from the TNA Impact game on Sabin.
Lauren spoke to Abyss and Matt Morgan backstage. Morgan asked Abyss what he was thinking about hanging around Beer Money Inc. last week. Abyss told Morgan that they promised him they would take him to see Pete Griffin and friends from Family Guy. Morgan flipped and told Abyss to stop being so gullible. Morgan then told Abyss to take James Storm out.
A Rough Cuts segment was shown on James Storm.
Match Three - Beer Bottle on a Poll Match - Abyss vs. James Storm w/ Jackie Moore
Abyss used his power throughout the match. James Storm got the beer bottle, but Abyss took it from him. Jackie Moore got involved and snatched it away, only to be confronted by Matt Morgan. Robert Roode came out and hit Morgan with a low blow, followed by a chair shot to Abyss behind referee, Mark "Slick" Johnson's back, leading to Storm getting the pinfall.
Winner Via Pinfall - James Storm
After the match, the fight continued, with Matt Morgan beating on Beer Money Inc. until Robert Roode cracked him in the back of the head with a beer bottle. EMTs and Abyss crawled back into the ring and tended to Morgan who was bleeding from the back of his head. Beer Money Inc. ran to the backstage area, as Abyss stared at them and held Morgan.
Jeremy Borash was in the Main Event Mafia's locker room, and was trying to speak to Sting about Final Resolution, only to be interrupted by Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner, who said that they Mafia did what they had to do. Kurt Angle was staring at the TV and as Brother Ray made his way into the Impact Zone, Angle said he was going to the ring.
Brother Ray grabbed the mic and called out Kurt Angle, who answered and also made his way into the Impact Zone. Brother Ray told Angle that he wanted to resolve this problem and face Angle in a match later on Impact without the Mafia and the Frontline around. He wanted a match where the loser's stable would be forced to disband. He asked Angle for a shake and Angle agreed.
Back from a commercial break, Brother Ray was shown pleading with the Frontline to leave. They didn't want to leave, but Ray told them that he trusted Kurt Angle enough to know that the Main Event Mafia would leave too. The Motor City Machine Guns left rather easily and Ray asked nicely for the rest to follow, which they did. Brother Devon told Ray to be careful and Ray told him that he'd see him later.
Mike Tenay and Don West hyped the rest of the show, before pitching it to Jeremy Borash.
Jeremy Borash was in the Main Event Mafia's locker room, as Kurt Angle was telling them to leave. Booker T told Angle to take care of Brother Ray, and Angle promised he would.
Lauren was with the Beautiful People, Cute Kip and "Gov. Sarah Palin." Palin continued to put over the Beautiful People, saying that she was going to make them look better than Beyonce. Cute Kip tried to tell them that the Palin was an impostor and that they already are prettier than Beyonce, but they wouldn't listen. Instead they ran off with Palin as Cute Kip looked on.
A package was shown recapping the Feast or Fired match from Final Resolution. Jeremy Borash was in the ring with his assistant, Summer, as they revealed the fate of Hernandez, Homicide and Curry Man. Hernandez won the TNA Heavyweight title match, while Homicide won the TNA X Division title match and Curry Man was fired. Curry Man thought it was a good thing and didn't understand what was going on. Borash told Curry Man that on behalf of TNA, he was wishing him the best in his future endeavors. Security then escorted Curry Man out of the Impact Zone.
Match Four - Sojournor Bolt vs. Christy Hemme
Christy Hemme showed some fire and picked up the win by reversing Sojournor Bolt and rolling her up in a sunset flip.
Winner Via Pinfall - Christy Hemme
After the match, Sojournor Bolt slapped Christy Hemme, leading to a brawl that was broken up by the TNA referees.
Lauren was in the back as security was removing Curry Man from the Impact Zone. Curry Man tried to say that he thought there was a Fire title in TNA that he was getting a shot at, but Lauren explained that he had been fired. Security threw Curry Man out kicking and pleading for help.
A funny Curry Man package was shown to highlight his TNA tenure.
Match Five - Loser's Team Must Disband - Kurt Angle (Main Event Mafia) vs. Brother Ray (Frontline)
Kurt Angle jumped Brother Ray from behind to kick off the match, which turned into a brawl. Brother Ray charged at Angle by the stage and wound up going through it, busting him open. Referee, Mark "Slick" Johnson ruled the match a No Contest, due to them brawling all the way to the backstage area.
Winner - No Contest
The fight continued to the parking lot area, where Brother Ray was in firm control. Security tried to break things up, but Ray laid them out. Just as Ray was about to finish Angle off, he was jumped from behind by the Main Event Mafia, who laid him out and threw him in a dumpster, rounding out another episode of Impact.
