Smackdown: Hardy goes Extreme!
By ANDY McNAMARA - SLAM! Wrestling

An interesting blend of action on Smackdown tonight as things begin to heat up for the upcoming Survivor Series. Undertaker and the undefeated Vladimir Kozlov lock up in the main event, and Jeff Hardy makes his presence felt in a big way. The U.S. Championship is on the line and the man himself, Triple H is also in action. Oh and don’t forget about The Punjabi Playboy ... on to the report!

A recap is shown of Chavo losing the Casket Match to The Undertaker and Vickie Guerrero telling Vladimir Kozlov that if he beats Taker this week then he will have Triple H at Survivor Series.

MVP’s VIP Lounge starts off the program. The host assures everyone that his losing streak is nothing to be concerned about and that he will definitely collect his big bonus after his next win. The Great Khali and Ranjin Singh interrupt and say it is time for the “Khali Kiss Cam.” "The Punjabi Playboy" has the misfortune again of finding the ugliest woman in the crowd for the giant to kiss. Ranjin wants a second lady for Khali ... and finds another festively plump volunteer. This segment took way too long. After the kiss fest is over MVP jumps Khali from behind with a couple of shots before scampering away.

MVP storms into GM Vickie’s office complaining about Khali’s interruption. Guerrero reminds MVP that he needs to win a match by Survivor Series or else his contract gets reduced to a standard one and he has to pay back his huge signing bonus.

Match 1: U.S. Championship- Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. R-Truth

Benjamin tries to ground his high-flying rival with a reverse chin lock over his knee early on. Truth fights out of a powerbomb and hits a corkscrew dive for a two count. R-Truth is rocking and rolling until the champ connects with Pay Dirt out of nowhere for a 1-2-3. I would have to think that this is Truth’s last look at Benjamin for a while.

WINNER: Shelton Benjamin

The Brian Kendrick and Ezekial quote Samuel Jackson from Pulp Fiction/The Bible in an attempt to intimidate Jimmy Wang Yang backstage.

Match 2: Ezekial Jackson w/ Brian Kendrick vs. Jimmy Wang Yang

Yang is able to use his speed to escape the powerhouse for a moment. However, Jackson gets his hands on him quickly and finishes the cruiserweight off. Kendrick then delivers The Kendrick on a helpless Wang Yang.

WINNER: Ezekial Jackson

Jeff Hardy promises GM Guerrero that he will beat Triple H if given a last chance at the world title. Vickie tells him no, that he doesn’t have what it takes, and that he’s not even that extreme anymore. A furious Hardy tells the general manager that tonight he is going to blow her mind.

Match 3: Triple H & Jeff Hardy vs. John Morrison & The Miz

Going into the commercial break Hardy dove to the outside to take out both Miz and Morrison. Once the show resumes Jeff is in full control over The Miz. The former tag champs do a unique double team move where Hardy is monkey flipped into Morrison where he is punched, then Miz balances Jeff over his knees and John leaps over the ropes into an elbow drop. Very impressive. Hardy refuses to tag Triple H as he is out to prove his main event worth to the world. Jeff was set to hit the Swanton Bomb when Morrison grabs his leg and then all hell breaks loose. Hardy snaps and strikes his tag opponents with a steel chair causing the DQ. Miz is still stuck in the ring following the bell so The Game gives him a Pedigree for good measure.

WINNERS: Morrison & Miz by DQ

Backstage Eve interviews the undefeated Vladimir Kozlov who says that he will take out The Undertaker this evening and then he will move on to take Triple H’s gold.

Big Show stands at the top of the entrance ramp with a message for The Undertaker. Show says that Taker gets his power by scaring his opponents. The giant is not afraid and challenges The Dead Man to a Casket Match at Survivor Series.

Match 4: The Great Khali w/ Ranjin Singh vs. MVP

MVP tries to weaken Khali with some leg kicks at the start, however, the big man soon overpowers him with some heavy fists and elbows. This one doesn’t last long as Khali takes care of MVP with a Tree Choke Slam. The losing streak goes on.

WINNER: The Great Khali

Match 5: Brie Bella vs. Victoria w/ Natalya Neidhart

Brie Bella is undefeated thus far in the WWE. Victoria trash talks Brie as she puts the boots to her including a near fall after a sidewalk slam. While Victoria is arguing with the referee Bella is able to score with a flash roll up for a pinfall. Brie crawls under the ring, but both Natalya and Victoria grab a separate person -- there are two identical twin Bellas!

WINNER: Brie Bella

Match 6: Main Event- The Undertaker vs. Vladimir Kozlov

Vladimir surprises Undertaker by knocking him off his feet with a shoulder block. Taker puts the Moscow Mauler to the test by connecting with his patented leg drop off the apron. This is turning into a good back and forth battle as Kozlov uses his head and Sambo background to punish The Dead Man. Taker temporarily traps the Russian in a modified version of his triangle choke, but Kozlov is able to grab the ropes. Out of nowhere Jeff Hardy runs in and smashes Vladimir with a steel chair. Kozlov wins the match via disqualification. Undertaker walks after Hardy then turns back and plants Kozlov with a choke slam. Jeff is then in the back with GM Vickie and says that he wants Taker in an Extreme Rules Match next week to prove himself.

WINNER: Vladimir Kozlov by DQ
