Impact: Main Event Mafia takes over Sin City
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

What happens in Vegas won't necessarily stay in Vegas, as TNA presents its first HD broadcast from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. On tap, Mick Foley makes a major announcement, AJ Styles and Samoa Joe join forces to take on Sting and Kevin Nash, plus the TNA Knockouts Championship is defended.

A new opening for Impact was shown, followed by the usual Mike Tenay and Don West rundown of the card.

Match One - Christy Hemme vs. Velvet Sky w/ Angelina Love and Cute Kip

Cute Kip did his best to help Velvet Sky, but in the end, Christy Hemme overcame the odds, gave Kip a slap and hit Sky with a flying leg drop for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Christy Hemme

Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped the rest of the card, as well as the text voting for the gauntlet match.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Kurt Angle, who said that he had a major announcement to make after seeing what Jeff Jarrett and Mick Foley were doing last week. Angle said that last night he made some calls and by midnight the deal was done. As Angle began talking, Booker T and Sharmell walked in, followed by Kevin Nash and Sting in a suit. The four of them spoke about how guys like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe have been disrespectful. They talk about how Styles and Joe have no dignity and honor. They made a toast to each other and then walked off. By the way, their group is now called "The Main Event Mafia."

Lauren was shown outside waiting for Mick Foley, who arrived and said that he was going to wait till the time was right to make his big announcement.

Booker T and Sharmell then made their way to the ring with the briefcase. Booker said it was time to reveal its contents, which turned out to be a TNA Legends Championship Belt that Booker now claims to be the holder of. Christian Cage came out and went on a rant about how Booker T wasn't deserving of the title. Booker told Cage that he too was a legend and they shouldn't be fighting, he asked Cage to join the Main Event Mafia, but Cage declined. Instead, he challenged Booker for the title at Turning Point. He told Booker he only wanted the title on the line, because he knows that if he wins it, it will piss Booker off. Booker agreed to the match, but said that if Cage lost, he had to join the Main Event Mafia.

Lauren caught up with Abyss and Matt Morgan. Morgan said that Abyss would not be getting in the ring, due to the injuries he sustained at Bound for Glory. Abyss said that he wanted in the match and he had to do his own thinking, but Morgan disagreed. Morgan then left, as Abyss said that he had to do something about Kurt Angle.

Jeremy Borash then spoke to Jeff Jarrett, who said that he wasn't going to spoil the big announcement for Mick Foley. He said that Angle wants a rematch at Turning Point, but you don't always get what you want. Jarrett then walked away, leaving JB clueless.

Match Two - TNA X Division Championship Match - Sheik Abdul Bashir (C) vs. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal

Sheik Abdul Bashir went right after Jay Lethal at the bell, but Lethal fought back. Lethal's downfall came when he missed the top rope elbow drop, and Bashir connected with the WMD to retain the title.

Winner Via Pinfall and STILL TNA X Division Champion - Sheik Abdul Bashir

Backstage, Lauren spoke to AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, who said they didn't know how the whole Main Event Mafia came to be and how this situation got to be as bad as it is in TNA. They talked about how they are going to defend what they believe in. They said that TNA came to them, Low Ki and Christopher Daniels and gave them the opportunity to perform on a big stage. They said that they weren't going to let the Mafia take over. Joe also had some words for Kevin Nash, saying that he was going to hunt him down and end his career.

A package was shown for Suicide.

Mike Tenay sent things backstage, where Rhino was shown yelling at Sheik Abdul Bashir, saying that he accepted his Open Challenge. Bashir then low blowed and attacked Rhino, as Lauren ran over to check on him.

A "Cross the Line" video package was shown.

Match Three - Tag Team Hard Rock Hardcore Text-Off Gauntlet Match - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) w/ Jackie Moore vs. LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) vs. Matt Morgan and Abyss vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Order of entry was as follows, James Storm, Brother Ray, Robert Roode, Brother Devon, Hernandez, Homicide, Matt Morgan, Abyss. This was pretty much an all-out brawl. The match came down to Team 3D and Beer Money Inc. Team 3D was able to hit the 3D on Roode through a table, but Jackie Moore pulled the referee out at the count of two. Storm then spit beer in Devon's face, leading to a pinfall victory for the champs.

Winners Via Pinfall - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode)

Mike Tenay and Don West hyped the rest of the show.

Kurt Angle made his way to the ring. David Penzer was shown, still black and blue from the beating he took from Kurt Angle last week. Wow. Angle said that he didn't care what Mick Foley had to say and called out Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett came out and said that he wasn't going to fight Angle and he was going to pass the torch to guys like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and The Motor City Machine Guns. He said that TNA has a great roster with a bunch of guys who want to get their hands on Angle. Abyss then came into the ring and got a shot on Angle. Angle fought back with a low blow on Abyss. Angle then ran at him, only to nearly get caught with the Black Hole Slam. Angle was able to escape and retreated to the locker room.

Mick Foley was shown hanging out backstage.

A Kurt Angle video package was shown.

A package was then shown for Awesome Kong and the upcoming TNA Knockouts Championship match.

Lauren spoke to Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed. Saeed told Lauren that Kong is done with Taylor Wilde after this match. Saeed guaranteed that Kong would destroy Wilde and take back the TNA Knockouts Championship.

Jeremy Borash caught up with Taylor Wilde, who said she was going to keep doing what she has been doing and said that if Awesome Kong wants the TNA Knockouts title, she is going to have to take her career with it.

Match Four - TNA Knockouts Championship Match - Taylor Wilde (C) vs. Awesome Kong w/ Riesha Saeed

This was a good match. Riesha Saeed got involved, tripping up Taylor Wilde, leading to a brawl between the two of them. Awesome Kong took advantage of this and went after Wilde, hitting her with the Kong Bomb for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall and NEW TNA Knockouts Champion - Awesome Kong

Sting, Kevin Nash, Kurt Angle and Booker T were shown talking backstage.

Nick Bockwinkel was shown sitting at ringside.

Match Five - The Main Event Mafia (Kevin Nash and Sting) vs. Samoa Joe and AJ Styles

This was a good back and forth match. AJ Styles and Samoa Joe had things going their way, when Sting accidentally hit the Stinger Splash on Kevin Nash, however, Nash was able to gather his bearings and whack Joe with the TNA Heavyweight Championship behind the referee's back, allowing him to pick up the win for his team.

Winners Via Pinfall - The Main Event Mafia (Kevin Nash and Sting)

After the match, Samoa Joe was shown busted open. AJ Styles tried fighting off Sting and Kevin Nash, but Booker T and Kurt Angle ran out to join in on the beating, hitting Styles with the TNA Heavyweight Championship as well and busting him open too.

Mick Foley was shown making his way to the ring. Mick Foley talked about how he has made a lot of money over the years and he has been considered pretty cheap by many, so Jeff Jarrett came to him and told him he might want to make an investment. The Main Event Mafia then came out to interrupt Foley. Kurt Angle led the group and got in the ring to complain about last week when Foley said he was going to "take a Kurt and wipe his Angle." Angle then headbutted Foley and asked him if he thought that was funny. Foley said he did think it was funny, because the investment he made was in TNA and he is now a major shareholder in the company, so Angle just headbutted his new boss. Foley teased that he was going to fire Angle, but told him he was free to work there, because Foley believes in TNA and guys like AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. He also believes in the X Division. Foley said that TNA is on the verge of something big and told Angle that he had the choice to either be a part of history or be history himself. Confetti then fell as Foley celebrated and The Main Event Mafia looked on.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and made a trip to New York City to see Grease on Broadway. For reference, it was excellent.
