Impact: Angle snaps
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
There is a new champion in TNA and his name is Sting. At Bound for Glory, "The Icon" Sting defeated Samoa Joe to become the new TNA Heavyweight Champion, thanks in part to Kevin Nash. Both Nash and Sting will be in the Impact Zone for Impact and are scheduled to address the TNA roster and Samoa Joe.
The show began with a recap of Bound for Glory, including footage of Jeff Jarrett, saying that his appearance was a "one time deal."
They hype the fact that TNA will be live in HD from Las Vegas, NV next week.
Mike Tenay and Don West ran down the card and mentioned that Abyss was hospitalized after Bound for Glory and was not at the Impact Zone.
Match One - Sheik Abdul Bashir and Sonjay Dutt w/ So Cal Val vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
The Motor City Machine Guns came right at Sheik Abdul Bashir and Sonjay Dutt and didn't allow So Cal Val's attempted interference to get the better of them, as they cruised along and finished off Dutt with a frogsplash for the win.
Winners Via Pinfall - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
After the match, Kurt Angle ran down and destroyed Sonjay Dutt and The Motor City Machine Guns, as Sheik Abdul Bashir ran away. Angle grabbed the mic and said that Mick Foley helped Jeff Jarrett win at Bound for Glory, and that he was going to destroy the TNA roster, until he got his hands on Jarrett. He then blamed Jarrett for the beatings.
Jeremy Borash spoke to Kevin Nash, who said that what he did to Samoa Joe was revenge for Joe talking trash about him and Scott Hall ten months ago.
A package was shown on the Sting/Samoa Joe match from Bound for Glory.
Sting entered the Impact Zone and talked about how Samoa Joe was the better man at Bound for Glory, and that he had Sting beat, but because Joe decided to mock Sting and keep giving him opportunities to come back, Sting was able to walk away with the TNA Heavyweight Championship. Sting talked about how when he got back to the locker room, some people shook his hand, but AJ Styles didn't, because he is Samoa Joe's friend. AJ Styles then came out and said that he is Joe's friend and he respects him. He says that Sting is showing a lack of respect and that it's guys like himself, Samoa Joe, Low Ki and Christopher Daniels that helped build TNA and hold it together, while Sting sits back at his home and comes in when he wants to. The two argued and eventually Styles slapped Sting. Sting said he would let it go, and Styles told him not to, as he slapped him again. The two then brawled as security ran in and broke things up.
Backstage, Kurt Angle was shown beating on The Prince Justice Brotherhood.
Jeremy Borash was shown in Booker T and Sharmell's locker room. Booker T talked about being a big game hunter and said that he was going to defeat Hernandez in their match. Borash asked again about the briefcase and Sharmell said that the contents would be revealed on next week's Impact.
Match Two - Hernandez vs. Booker T w/ Sharmell
This was a good back and forth match. Sharmell got involved by distracting the referee, as Booker T hit a low blow and briefcase shot followed by an Axe Kick on Hernandez for the win.
Winner Via Pinfall - Booker T
Backstage, Kurt Angle was shown beating down The Rock-N-Rave Infection.
Lauren spoke to Roxxi, who said that she was going to go out and beat Riesha Saeed in their match later on Impact. She also told Awesome Kong to bring it on.
Lauren then spoke to Christy Hemme, who said that The Rock-N-Rave Infection were taken to the hospital. Cute Kip and The Beautiful People came in and stopped her from leaving. They made fun of her and then proceeded to beat on her and brown bag her.
Kurt Angle entered the Impact Zone and attacked David Penzer. He beat on him in the ring and locked in the Ankle Lock. Security and referees came out to stop the beating, but also wound up taking shots from Angle. Jeff Jarrett came out and told Angle to let it go. Angle said that he wanted a rematch and he knew where Jarrett lived and asked if he wanted "Uncle Kurt" to make a visit to his kids. Jarrett went nuts and went after Angle, but security held him back.
A package was shown highlighting Bound for Glory.
Mick Foley entered the Impact Zone and announced that he was leaving TNA. He thanked TNA for having him and said that it was an incredible thrill ride. He put over TNA and said it was a great experience. Jay Lethal, Consequences Creed, AJ Styles, Jeff Jarrett and some of the referees came out and thanked Foley. Jarrett then asked Foley for ten minutes of his time for another meeting, which Foley granted.
Mike Tenay said that Jim Cornette called from Las Vegas, NV and said that since Kurt Angle wanted a fight so bad, he was going to face Matt Morgan in the main event.
Match Three - Riesha Saeed w/ Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi
Roxxi was all over Riesha Saeed and even got some shots in on Awesome Kong on the outside. Roxxi was able to hit the Vodoo Crusher and pick up the victory.
Winner Via Pinfall - Roxxi
After the match, Awesome Kong came in and hit the Implant Buster on Roxxi, as her and Riesha Saeed stood tall.
Lauren spoke to Matt Morgan who said that what happened to Abyss was his fault. He said that he was a main event waiting to happen and promised to defeat Kurt Angle.
Lauren also spoke to Christy Hemme, who was upset about The Beautiful People attacking her. She challenged them to a match for next week's Impact.
Jeremy Borash caught up with Consequences Creed who said he was going to take the fight to Kevin Nash and come out with a win.
Match Four - Kevin Nash vs. Consequences Creed
This was pretty much a squash. Consequences Creed got finished off with the Jacknife Powerbomb.
Winner Via Pinfall - Kevin Nash
After the match, Kevin Nash grabbed the mic and said that Samoa Joe got what he deserved for trashing him and Scott Hall. He said that he is the most intelligent man in TNA and that he is the best thing they have going.
Jeremy Borash was shown outside Jeff Jarrett's office, where Mick Foley walked about saying he had to "take a Kurt and wipe his Angle." Foley told Jarrett that he would meet him in the car later. Borash followed Foley to see what was up.
A "Cross the Line" package was shown.
Lauren spoke to Team 3D who she accused of assaulting Abyss. They told he that they did what they had to do in the Monster's Ball match and said they were going to take things to a new level in next week's rematch in Las Vegas, where the fans will get to text in the order of entry for the match.
Match Five - Matt Morgan vs. Kurt Angle
This was a solid match. Matt Morgan nearly had Kurt Angle beat on several occasions, but Angle was able to escape the Hellavator attempt, clip the knee of Morgan and hit him with the Angle Slam for the pinfall victory.
Winner Via Pinfall - Kurt Angle
After the match, Angle continued to beat on Matt Morgan. Abyss ran out to make the save and Angle powdered out. While Abyss had his back turned, Angle snuck back in and beat on him, ripping of his bandages and going to work. He then locked in the Ankle Lock before leaving the Impact Zone.
In the parking lot, Borash caught up with Jarrett and Foley. Foley said that next week they had an announcement that was going to shake things up. They then got in the car together and left for Las Vegas.
