Impact: Cage and Styles at odds again
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

It's my birthday, but it's also time for another edition of Impact. On this week's episode, Abyss and Matt Morgan take on The Rock-N-Rave Infection, Sheik Abdul Bashir goes up against TNA champ, Samoa Joe, and in the main event, Booker T faces the "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles.

A package was shown to recap the last edition of Impact.

Mike Tenay and Don West then did their usual welcome and ran down the card.

Jeff Jarrett came out and talked about what a great pleasure it is for him to announce the signing of Mick Foley to TNA. Jarrett said that Foley would be live in the Impact Zone next week. He then played a video package, which brought out Kurt Angle. Angle ranted and raved to Jarrett, who apologized for some of the things he said last week. Jarrett told Angle that he went to AJ Styles and got the Olympic gold medals back, because Angle won those and was a true American. Angle told Jarrett not to kiss his ass and told him to get out of his ring. Jarrett left, while Angle continued to berate him, until Angle called him a "quitter." Jarrett snapped, and walked back to the ring and told Angle that he wasn't a quitter. He told Angle that if he wanted him so bad, he would get him at Bound for Glory.

Match One - Abyss and Matt Morgan vs. The Rock-N-Rave Infection (Lance Rock and Jimmy Rave) w/ Christy Hemme

Christy Hemme tried to help out her team, but they were destroyed anyway, as Abyss and Matt Morgan continued their winning ways.

Winners Via Pinfall - Abyss and Matt Morgan

After the match, Team 3D came out and cut a promo, saying that No Surrender was a fluke for them. They said that at Bound for Glory, it will be them versus Abyss and Matt Morgan, as well as any other team in TNA that wants to enter, in a Monsters Ball match. Abyss freaked out, as Morgan looked on.

A Rough Cuts segment on Roxxi Laveaux was shown.

Lauren spoke to Beer Money Inc. and Jackie Moore, who guaranteed victory in the Losers Lose Their Manager match.

A Knockouts package was shown.

Awesome Kong came out to the ring alone, looking for Riesha Saeed.

Match Two - Awesome Kong vs. Mercedes Steele

Mercedes Steele (a.k.a. New England independent wrestler, Lexxus), tried to mount some sort of offense, but was squashed with a Kong Bomb.

Winner Via Pinfall - Awesome Kong

After the match, Riesha Saeed came out with a steel chair and told Awesome Kong to punish Mercedes Steele some more. Saeed then cracked Kong with the chair and went on the attack, revealing herself to be Roxxi Laveaux. Security came out, as Riesha Saeed was shown tied up at the top of the ramp.

Karen's Angle was up next with, Christian Cage. She asked Cage about where he stands in TNA. Cage says that he agrees somewhat with both sides. He says that he considers himself a free agent. Karen told Cage he was just avoiding the question. Cage promised that he would make a decision. His phone rang, and he said it was his agent, before walking off to take the call.

Lauren spoke to LAX and Hector Guerrero, who also guaranteed victory in their match against Beer Money Inc. and Jackie Moore, saying that blood is thicker than water.

In Booker T's locker room, Jeremy Borash stood by with Booker T and Sharmell. Sharmell was holding the briefcase again. Booker talked about AJ Styles and said that he's done more than Styles in TNA and that the ratings are through the roof because of him. Borash asked Sharmell what was in the briefcase, only to get slapped.

Match Three - Six Person Intergender Losers Lose Their Manager Tag Team Match - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) and Jackie Moore vs. LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) and Hector Guerrero

This was a good tag team match, with Beer Money Inc. and Jackie Moore cheating their way through the match. The match broke down, with LAX gaining the upperhand. Jackie Moore distracted the referee, forcing Homicide to chase her around the ring, while Robert Roode used James Storm's beer helmet to knock out Hernandez and cover him for the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall - Beer Money Inc. (James Storm and Robert Roode) and Jackie Moore

Lauren spoke to Sonjay Dutt and So Cal Val, who said they have been in bed for the past ten days celebrating their win. Val talked about Dutt's rich father and said she owed no explanation for her actions. They then sang Give Love a Chance.

Sting came out and talked about how he listened to Jeff Jarrett last week. He then put on a slide show and talked about how guys like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan helped him throughout his career, because he respected them. He talked about how Samoa Joe has no respect and how he will get the job done at Bound for Glory.

Abyss was shown freaking out about the Monsters Ball match at Bound for Glory. Matt Morgan calmed him down and said that he has to face his fears. Morgan said he was afraid of flying, so he became a pilot. Morgan said he was afraid of bears, so he went into the woods and beat up a bear. Abyss asked Morgan if he would be okay, to which Morgan said he would.

A package was shown on the Steel Asylum match.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Samoa Joe, who said that he realizes what Kevin Nash has been saying and apologized to him. Joe said that at Bound for Glory, he is going to do his talking in the ring. Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed stepped in and thanked Joe for what he has done. They then told him that they have his back if he needs them.

A package was shown for Suicide.

Match Four - Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Samoa Joe

Sheik Abdul Bashir took the heavy offense to Samoa Joe and worked his legs, however, Joe fought back and hit the STJoe, followed by a Muscle Buster for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Samoa Joe

After the match, Samoa Joe grabbed the mic and told Sting he wanted respect, so he was going to take it. He then locked in the rear naked choke, as referees came out to break things up, eventually reversing the decision.

Winner Via DQ - Sheik Abdul Bashir

An AJ Styles video package was shown.

Jeremy Borash spoke to AJ Styles, who said that Booker T was pissing him off. He said that there is no wedge between him and Christian Cage and he will defeat Booker T.

Christian Cage came out to ringside to watch the Main Event.

Match Five - Booker T w/ Sharmell vs. AJ Styles

This was a good match. AJ Styles really had things going his way, hitting the Pele kick on Booker for a near fall. Sharmell had the briefcase and was trying to use it, but Christian Cage made the save. Styles then saw Cage with the briefcase. Booker was able to take Cage out, grab the briefcase and whack Styles with it, before tossing it away and making the cover for the victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - Booker T

After the match, Booker T stared down Christian Cage and left with Sharmell. AJ Styles got up and argued with Cage, as a video package was shown to round out another edition of Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and celebrated his 19th birthday at the Outback Steakhouse with his family. He also scored the Mr. Perfect DVD set, courtesy of his younger brother and fellow Slammer, Bryan Sokol. Oh yeah, and he had some wicked good Carvel birthday cake too.
