Raw: Adamle runs into McMahon on 800th show
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight is a monumental night in WWE history, and I’m not talking about what will happen when Monday Night RAW repeats the 2.6 rating last week. RAW is turning 800. Yep, this is the 800th broadcast for the Monday night staple, or so WWE tells us in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Chris Jericho kicks off the show with his title hung high above the ring. Y2J climbs the ladder in the ring and perches atop it. Jericho tears down HBK, disputing Michaels' claim that he re-invented the ladder match. Jericho runs down his accomplishments in ladder matches, including claiming a title on three separate occasions. Jericho claims he is just too good for HBK, and now Michaels has given Jericho a weapon of destruction. Randy Orton interrupts the champ.

Orton points out that if it wasn’t for him, Jericho wouldn’t be champion. Orton says the winner at No Mercy will be running on borrowed time. Jericho points out Orton can’t back up his words. Orton tells Jericho he can’t touch him, because Orton is under protection from Mike Adamle. Anyone who strikes Orton will be suspended.

Jericho has heard enough and walks away, as Orton runs his mouth. CM Punk takes Jericho’s place and heads to the ring. Punk gets in Orton’s face. Orton backs off a step, but Punk still slaps him, twice. Mike Adamle runs out to stop Punk. He tells Punk that he has violated an edict and now he is suspended.

Shane McMahon hits the ring right after the suspension in announced. Shane gives Mike an impromptu job review. Shane doesn’t respect Adamle’s edict and overrules the suspension of CM Punk. Orton gets in McMahon’s face. Shane says he expects more out of Orton, and asks him to leave the ring. McMahon tells Punk to get ready for a match, against Cody Rhodes. Shane then sets the main event, Chris Jericho and JBL vs. Batista and Shawn Michaels.

Match #1 – CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes

Punk and Rhodes lock up into the corner. Punk hits an elbow and then a kick in the corner. Rhodes is then worked over on the apron. Rhodes hits a cross body, but Punk rolls through and gets a two count. Punk snaps Rhodes over and kicks him in the back. Rhodes slips out of the GPS and scurries from the ring.

After a commercial, Rhodes has Punk in a modified ankle lock. Punk knees his way out of the hold and applies his own ankle lock. Rhodes is caught in the middle of the ring, but Cody is able to get the ropes. Punk slaps Rhodes around and then connects with a kick to the back of the head. Punk delivers a high knee in the corner, and then connects with the GTS. Punk covers for the three count.

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

After the bell, Punk is assaulted in the ring by Manu and Ted DiBiase. Kofi Kingston runs in to make the save and clear the ring.

Shane and Mike are back in the office, and Mike is embarrassed about Shane overruling him. Shane give Adamle a vote of confidence, when Kane walks in. Kane thanks Adamle for serving up Evan Bourne, but he wants Rey Mysterio. Adamle says fine and books the match for No Mercy. Shane then fills Adamle in on the McMahon-Kane history.

Beth Phoenix and Santino Marella (wearing a face mask) tell Kelly Kelly they booked a match against her because she was laughing at him. Santino starts talking trash on Batista who walks up behind him. Phoenix tells the Animal if he interferes in her match Santino will mess him up.

Match #2 – Santino Marella vs. Deuce

Deuce smashes Santino’s face in the turnbuckle and then punches him. Deuce connects with a fist drop for two, and then picks up Santino. Marella counters into a sunset flip and gets the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Santino Marella

Santino announces that this was only the first win for Glameralla tonight.

Match #3 – Kane vs. Evan Bourne

Bourne leapfrogs Kane and strikes him in the arm. Bourne continues the assault with an enziguiri. Bourne fights his way out of the corner, and then works over Kane with kicks to the leg. Bourne dodges an elbow drop and goes for a sunset flip. Kane punches him in the face. Bourne fights out of the corner again, nailing a drop kick. Kane counters a DDT from the turnbuckle, but Bourne lands on the apron. Kane gets hung up on the ropes after missing a big boot, and Bourne sends him to the floor. Bourne hits a shooting star press on the outside. Back in the ring, Bourne connects with knees to the chin, but cannot get the pin. Kane responds with a tilt-a-whirl back breaker, and then follows with two more. Kane drives Bourne into the turnbuckle and the hits a running powerslam. Kane hits the chokeslam and covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Kane

After the bell, Kane picks up Bourne, and Mysterio runs into make the save. Rey flies off the ropes, but right into a kick from Kane. Rey is left prone in the ring.

Jamie Noble is asking Shane for another shot when Dolph Ziggler introduces himself. Randy Orton interrupts and tells Shane what he did wasn’t cool. Shane tells Orton he is getting off easy for what he did to Punk. Orton tries to threaten Shane, but Shane has no part of it.

Match #4 – Beth Phoenix w/Santino Marella vs. Kelly Kelly

Phoenix hammers away at Kelly in the corner. Kelly fights back with kicks and then an arm drag. Phoenix counters a head scissors and slams Kelly into the turnbuckle. Phoenix drives an elbow into the shoulder of Kelly, as Candice looks on in the back. Kelly breaks free of a submission hold and then dodges an elbow drop. Kelly delivers a drop kick and then a lariat. Kelly hits a cross body, and gets a two count. Santino tries to trip Kelly and then jumps on the apron. Kelly dodges a Phoenix charge and Santino his hit by his girl. Kelly rolls up Phoenix for the pin.

Winner via pinfall: Kelly Kelly

After the bell, Phoenix holds Kelly for Santino, but Batista makes the save. Santino attacks, but Batista just flattens him.

Match #5 – The Miz and Morrison vs. Cryme Tyme

JTG and Morrison start off and lock up. They break and Morrison starts to taunt Cryme Tyme. JTG is whipped off the ropes and slides to punk Morrison in the face. Shad makes a blind tag, but Morrison keeps his focus on JTG allowing Shad to slam Morrison to the mat. The Miz tags in, and Shad sends him to the floor. Shad then gives JTG a lift to take out Morrison and Miz the outside.

After the break, Morrison has JTG in a head scissors/arm bar combo. JTG breaks free, but cannot get a tag. The Miz tags in and hits a clothesline in the corner. The Miz uses a drop toe hold to keep JTG in the ring, and then tags in Morrison. Shad gets the hot tag and cleans house. The Miz is power slammed, but Morrison makes the save on the pin. JTG tries to set up a double team move, but is broken up by Morrison. On the outside, JTG is tossed face first into the ring post. Morrison kicks Shad in the back of the head, allowing The Miz to get the pin.

Winner via pinfall: The Miz and Morrison

Jericho tries to talk Adamle into putting his own spin on tonight’s main event.

Charlie Haas shows us he is definitely not Mr. Perfect.

Before the match, Lillian Garcia is informed that this is now a 2 on 3 handicapped mach.

Match #6 – Chris Jericho, Lance Cade, JBL vs. Batista and HBK

HBK and Lance Cade start off. Cade is forced into the corner and the ref breaks the two apart. Michaels slaps him and the two trade punches. HBK runs into a clothesline from JBL on the apron, and Jericho tags in. Y2J hits a back suplex and then slaps on a reverse chin lock. HBK breaks free, but Jericho beats on him in the corner. Jericho hits an enziguri and tags in JBL. Michaels get caught in an abdominal stretch. HBK breaks free, but is backed into the heel corner. Cade tags back in and distracts the ref, allowing Jericho to get in a cheap shot. HBK trades punches with JBL. Michaels gets caught in mid air on a cross body, but HBK counters a fall away slam and both men go down.

Batista gets the tag, and drives Jericho into the corner and then clotheslines him. Batista hits a spine buster, and then tags in HBK to drop an elbow from the top rope. HBK warms up the band, but Jericho ducks the kick and goes for the Walls. Michaels breaks it, and then counters the code breaker into a jackknife pin. JBL breaks the count. Jericho hits a bulldog, but misses on the lionsault. Batista is taken out on the apron. HBK turns to Jericho, but Cade is the legal man. Cade hits a sit-down powerbomb, and gets the pin.
