Bang, bang? TNA on wrong track
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

While I never really bought into the whole Dude Love "peace, love and understanding" thing, I've long been a Mick Foley fan -- as a wrestler and as a person.

While he isn't the most technically gifted wrestler in the world, Foley long felt an obligation to give the fans plenty of bang for their bucks.

And now, Foley is a member of the TNA roster, appearing on Impact this week.

Maybe it's not right to criticize TNA for adding marquee names like Christian Cage, Booker T and Kurt Angle -- all of those guys ooze talent and sell tickets.

But what puzzles me is how TNA continues to ignore the X Division -- something that really made it unique and in some ways more entertaining to watch than WWE.

Sure TNA continues to hold X Division matches, but in the grand scheme of things, they seem to be an afterthought.

WHAT YOU THINK
Will Mick Foley make you tune into TNA?
Absolutely 19%
I do already 32%
Doubtful 42%
Who's Mick Foley? 7%
AJ Styles is a multi-time champion who may not get another chance because of his position on the pecking order.

Look down the roster and some of the most talented guys are lost in the shuffle.

Should TNA be giving most of its airtime to its "superstars?" Vince McMahon's model of success would suggest so, but the danger is you then become a diluted version of WWE, without as much starpower.

I hope Foley makes a difference, just like Angle, Cage and Booker T did.

But I also hope some of the forgotten warriors are given the pushes they so much deserve.

AROUND THE RING

Charlie Haas (or is it Charlito, or is it CHL, or is it Jim Haas?) and wife Jackie Gayda had a baby girl, Taylor Suzanne (7 lbs., 1 oz) ... WWE has signed Naofumi Yamamoto to its developmental roster. He becomes the second Japanese wrestler (the other being Funaki) on the roster ... Dolph Ziggler, who popped up on RAW, is Nick Nemeth (Nicky from The Spirit Squad) ... PWInsider says Salinas (Shelly Martinez) has quit TNA ... The official theme song for TNA's Bound For Glory pay-per-view will be provided by The Smashing Pumpkins.
