Raw: Kane and Batista kneed each other
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

Is it just me or has WWE lost all momentum they gained back in June with the draft lottery? Maybe the Championship Scramble will breathe some life into the product. Hopefully, weíll find out more about Unforgiven as RAW comes to us from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, home of the Junior Penguins.

The Champ is here! Oops, wrong catchphrase. CM Punk kicks off the show with a match ... against JBL. (UGH!)

Match #1 - CM Punk vs. JBL

(Seriously, again?)

JBL clubs Punk over the back and then slaps on a headlock. Punk breaks free only to hit the mat with a shoulder block. Punk kicks JBL into a seated position and then dropkicks him in the back of the head. JBL responds with a big boot. Punk kicks JBL in the jaw. Punk snapmares JBL out of the corner and covers for a two count. Punk with a headlock and then shoots JBL off the ropes into a hip toss. Punk counters a clothesline with a roundhouse kick, and JBL spills from the ring. Punk dives through the ropes to take out Bradshaw. Back in the ring, Punk hits a flying lateral press, but JBL kicks out. We then go to break.

We return to find Punk in a bear hug. JBL follows with a back suplex. Punk gets caught in an abdominal stretch. JBL drops into a pinfall, but Punk kicks out. JBL gets Punk up in a torture rack. Punk breaks free, but gets caught and slammed to the mat. JBL sets Punk up on the top turnbuckle and hits him with rights. Punk battles out of a superplex and then counters into a DDT. Punk crawls over for a cover, but Bradshaw kicks out. Punk hits a springboard clothesline, but still cannot get a pin. Punk delivers a high knee in the corner and follows with a bulldog. JBL kicks out at two, again. JBL slips out of the GTS and dodge Punk in the corner and counters with the Clothesline from Hell. Punk kicks out at two. JBL grabs a chair, but is stripped by the ref. Punk picks JBL for behind and connects with the GTS. Punk covers for the three count.

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

Mike Adamle walks out to make an announcement. Adamle informs us that John Cena suffered a neck injury at SummerSlam and will be out indefinitely. As for Cenaís spot in the Championship Scramble, Adamle will name a replacement by the end of the night.

Kane is in the back and says what Batista did to Cena is nothing compared to what he did to Rey Mysterio. Kane explains how he likes inflicting pain.

Back in his office, Adamle apologizes to Primo Colon for running off last week. Adamle tells him everything is ready for his match, and thereís something up. Shawn Michaels walks in and Adamle tells him to take all the time he needs. The GM then asks about the wife, HBK doesnít say a word.

Match #2 - Kelly Kelly vs. Beth Phoenix w/ Santino Marella

Phoenix picks Kelly up and sits her up on the top turnbuckle, just toying with her. Kelly fights back with a kick to the face, and then a rolls up the champ. Phoenix kicks out, and Beth has a bloody nose. Kelly is whipped into the corner, but gets a foot up on the charge. Kelly flips out of the hold, and then drops Phoenix into the turnbuckle with a toe hold. Santino pulls Beth out of the corner, but it allows Kelly to roll her up and get the pin.

After the bell, Santino tries to explain himself. Phoenix takes him down and starts pummeling him. Santino runs to the back.

Match #3 - Charlie "Charlito" Hass vs. Primo Colon

Charlie Haas comes to the ring dressed as Carlito and uses his gimmick. Primo takes down Haas in the corner. Haas hits a back suplex and then locks in a head lock. Haas goes for the apple, but Primo kicks it out of his mouth. Colon avoids a drop kick, and then hits a clothesline and a drop kick. Haas is flipped out of the corner and loses his wig. Colon hits a crossbody from the top rope and gets the pin with a lateral press.

Winner via pinfall: Primo Colon

Shawn Michaels enters the ring. Shawn lets everyone know that his wife is hurt, but she is tough and will be okay. Shawn has tried to look at this rationally, and this was an accident. That Jericho didnít mean to hit her. Michaels then watched RAW, where Jericho blamed everyone else and showed no remorse. HBK says he has earned the right to come out to the ring and talk to the people. Michaels didnít realize that saying goodbye would be so hard, and thatís why his wife was there. HBK announces that he isnít going anywhere. Jericho pops up on the Titantron to address Michaels. Jericho says it is lucky he is not in the arena. Jericho says HBK will not leave the ring, but he wonít be goaded into a match. HBK says he wants to the match, because any other way, Michaels will end up in jail. HBK says he will sign anything for this match to happen. Jericho tells HBK his life is at stake in this match. HBK demands an answer from Jericho, and Jericho accepts the match. Jericho tells HBK not to let the wife and kids watch the match. HBK tells Jericho this match is about an eye for an eye.

Match #4 - Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes vs. Jim Duggan and Jerry Lawler

Cryme Tyme still have the belts that they stole last week.

Lawler and Dibiase lock up and then Ted hits a back body drop. Lawler punches Dibiase, but is cut off in the corner. Rhodes tags in, and punches away at Lawler. Rhodes locks on an armbar, and then hits a suplex. Cody then slaps Lawler around, and King fires back with punches. DiBiase tags in and slaps on a sleeper. King counters and tags in Hacksaw. Duggan hits a spinning slam and follows with a clothesline. DiBiase hits the leg sweep and pins Duggan, while Lawler is occupied with Rhodes on the outside.

Winner via pinfall: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes

After the bell, Rhodes grabs the mic to tell Cryme Tyme that they will hunt them down. Rhodes says you donít steal championships, you win them. Shad and JTG are in a superbox with the belts. Shad reintroduces themselves to the champs. They "borrowed" the belts because they werenít getting a title shot. Rhodes tells them they should have gone through the proper channels. Dibiase tells them they will get their shot at Unforgiven, and they will take back what is theirs and then some. Dibiase says it will be priceless, but JTG tells him nothing comes without a price.

The Grish is with Batista to get his thoughts on Kane. Batista says his match with Cena was one of the toughest of his career. Batista says he has nothing but respect for John and wishes him a speedy recovery. Big Dave says he isnít scared of Kane, and tonight is personal.

Match #5 - Santino Marella vs. Kofi Kingston - Intercontinental Title Match

Kofi Kingston goes for a roll-up, but Santino kicks out. Santino slaps on a head lock. Kofi hits a heel kick and then a monkey flip. Kofi drives a shoulder into Santino in the corner. Winner via pinfall: Santino Marella

After the bell, Phoenix corners Santino and kisses him. Marella responds by tossing Phoenix into the corner and smooching her. Phoenix leaves the ring and orders Santino to follow her.

(So this weekís RAW fact is that more people watch WWE than Monday Night Football for the second week in a row. Yea, itís called the pre-season Vince, show me the numbers on September 8th and then you can brag.)

WWEís Smackdown you vote campaign is in full effect. (Seriously, if you are eligible, register to vote. And then vote in November.)

Mike Adamle names Rey Mysterio as the replacement for John Cena in the Championship Scramble.

Match #6 - Batista vs. Kane

Both men lock up, and Batista is dropped with a shoulder block. Batista and Kane trade mat moves. Batista uses a firemanís carry to gain an advantage. Batista takes down Kane with a shoulder block. Kane blocks a Batista Bomb, but walks into a clothesline. Kane goes to the outside and starts trashing the timekeeper position. And we go to break.

We return to find Batista in a headlock. The Animal breaks free and hits an elbow. Kane drills Batista in the throat but Dave blocks the chokeslam. He drills the knee with multiple chair shots before collapsing. Kane reels in pain as Batista does the same on the floor.
