Impact: Styles reaches gold again

Last week, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles became an Olympic Gold Medalist. This week, Styles puts his gold on the line in a Ladder match. Also on this edition of Impact, Gail Kim faces her arch rival, The Awesome Kong in a Knockouts Street Fight and Matt Morgan continues his squashing ways. So without any further ado, onto the Impact report.

The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact.

Jeremy Borash caught up with Kurt Angle who said that he was at the Impact Zone to get his Gold Medal's back.

Mike Tenay and Don West then did their usual welcome.

Match One - Hernandez w/ Salinas and Hector Guerrero vs. Robert Roode w/ James Storm and Jackie Moore

Jackie Moore and James Storm got involved throughout to help take Hernandez off his game, however, Hernandez was able to overcome the odds and hit Robert Roode with a huge Samoan Drop for the pinfall victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - Hernandez

Backstage, Jeremy Borash spoke to AJ Styles who was wearing his the gold medals. Styles said that last week, they did things Kurt Angle's way, but this week, they were going to do things his way. Angle was being held back by security, screaming that he wanted his gold medals.

Mike Tenay and Don West then talked about the mysterious bat and guitar appearances and hype the rest of the show.

Match Two - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. Eric Young and BG James

The Motor City Machine Guns continued their losing ways, as Eric Young and BG James worked well as a tag team and capitalized on the Guns mistakes to pick up the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - Eric Young and BG James

After the match, Alex Shelley shook hands with BG James and rubbed Chris Sabin's head. He then slapped James and a brawl ensued as security ran in to break things up.

Jeremy Borash and Kurt Angle were shown backstage entering Booker T's locker room. Angle asked Booker to be in his corner during the ladder match in case a mysterious guitar were to appear. Booker agreed and offered Angle some champagne, but Angle declined and went on his way.

A package was shown to highlight the history between Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt and So Cal Val.

Karen's Angle was up next with special guest, So Cal Val. Sonjay Dutt stepped in and told Val that he was in love with her. He went to kiss her and Jay Lethal dove in on the scene and a brawl erupted. Lethal went to hit Dutt, but accidentally hit Val, as Angle freaked out.

Mike Tenay announced that So Cal Val had some facial bruising and a concussion.

Rough Cuts with Consequences Creed was shown with him talking about how Kurt Angle was a huge influence on him as a High School wrestler.

Match Three - Matt Morgan vs. Frankie Capone

Winner Via Pinfall - Matt Morgan

After the match, Brother Ray came out and picked on Matt Morgan. He entered the ring and told Morgan to fight him, as Brother Devon ran in from behind and attacked him. Abyss then ran out and helped Morgan clean house on Team 3D.

Gail Kim was shown getting ready for the Knockouts Street Fight.

Mike Tenay spoke with Kevin Nash who talked about his relationship with Samoa Joe. When asked about Sting, he said that he wouldn't comment, but guessed that Sting was upset with how some of the newer guys are behaving and how they show a lack of respect. They said that Sting would be on Impact next week to speak for himself.

Earlier in the day, Lauren spoke to The Beautiful People. At No Surrender, Angelina Love will take on Taylor Wilde for the TNA Knockouts Championship. Kip James showed up and kicked out Wilde's stylist and messed with her hair. The Beautiful People then showed up and attacked her, giving her a makeover.

Jeremy Borash spoke to Rhino who said that there's a lot of drama taking place in TNA, but he is here to wrestle. He promised victory over Booker T and guaranteed that he would be in the main event at No Surrender.

Match Four - Qualifying Match for a Shot at the TNA Heavyweight Championship at No Surrender - Booker T w/ Sharmell vs. Rhino

This was a good back and forth match. Rhino had things going his way, as he went for a top rope splash, only to miss and get hit with the Axe Kick for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall and NEW Number One Contender to the TNA Heavyweight Championship - Booker T

Lauren spoke to Gail Kim, who said that she was going to take the fight to the Awesome Kong and defeat her.

Match Five - TNA X Division Championship Match - Petey Williams w/ Rhaka Kahn (C) vs. Consequences Creed

This was a solid match. Rhaka Kahn got involved and put some boots to Consequences Creed. Creed was able to come back and land a superkick on Petey Williams, but Sheik Abdul Bashir ran in and caused a disqualification.

Winner Via DQ - Consequences Creed - STILL TNA X Division Champion - Petey Williams

After the match, Sheik Abdul Bashir continued his attack on Consequences Creed. Petey Williams was upset with getting disqualified and argued with Bashir.

Jeremy Borash spoke with The Rock-N-Rave Infection, Christy Hemme and The Prince Justice Brotherhood. The six stars were arguing over music, which led to the Infection beating on the Brotherhood.

Kurt Angle is announced as having a qualifying match on the next edition of Impact, for a spot in the main event at No Surrender.

Match Six - Knockouts Street Fight - Gail Kim vs. The Awesome Kong w/ Riesha Saeed

This was an all out brawl that wound up going both inside and outside the ring. Gail Kim took to the air and got caught, leading to Kong hitting the Implant Buster for the victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - The Awesome Kong

After the match, Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed beat on Gail Kim some more, as referees ran out and tried to save her. Kong tossed the referees away, as Katie Kim ran in and covered up her sister. Kong grabbed her and was about to hit her with the Awesome Bomb, but ODB and Roxxi Laveaux ran out with chairs to make the save. Kong used Katie Kim as a shield and took off.

Match Seven - Ladder Match for Kurt Angle's Olympic Gold Medals - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle w/ Booker T

This was a really good main event. Back and forth match, with Sharmell attempting to get involved, only to get kicked away by Styles. Booker T also tried to get involved, but Samoa Joe ran out and made the save. Booker fought back on Joe and leveled him with a baseball bat. Back in the ring, Styles and Kurt Angle climbed the ladder towards the gold medals. The lights went out and Jeff Jarrett's music hit. When the lights came back on, Styles had a guitar in hand and whacked Angle with it, allowing him to reach the medals.

Winner via grabbing the gold medals and STILL holder of the Olympic gold medals - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and made a trip to Camden Yards this past Monday to see the Red Sox destroy the Orioles, followed by a trip to Shea Stadium to see the Mets defeat the Braves.
