Impact: The search for Sting continues
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
On the last edition of Impact, Samoa Joe and Booker T made their Six Sides of Steel match official at Hard Justice, however, a surprise attack on Joe and mysterious baseball bat left in Booker T's hands have led to many questions regarding Sting. Is he with Booker? Is he with Joe? Is he on his own? Maybe those questions will be answered as Impact comes to us from sunny Orlando, FL.
The show began with Jeremy Borash inside Booker T and Sharmell's locker room. Booker promised that he would give Joe a tour of the Six Sides of Steel later on Impact. They then threw JB out of their locker room.
The traditional opening ran, only they showed clips from TNA's new video game. Cool concept.
Match One - Number One Contenders' Match for a shot at the TNA Tag Team Championships - Christian Cage and Rhino vs. Beer Money (James Storm and Robert Roode) w/ Jackie Moore
This was a solid tag team match that saw a lot of interference. Brother Ray tried to get involved, but was dismissed. Johnny Devine came out with a kendo stick, but also got tossed. Brother Devon finally came out and things started to take a turn for Christian Cage and Rhino. Jackie Moore also got involved, leading to a kendo stick shot on Cage behind the ref's back, as well as a 3D on Rhino to allow Beer Money to pick up the win.
Winners Via Pinfall and NEW Number One Contenders to the TNA Tag Team Championships - Beer Money (James Storm and Robert Roode)
After the match, Christian Cage grabbed the mic and challenged Team 3D to a New Jersey Street Fight at Hard Justice.
Backstage, Lauren spoke to Christy Hemme and The Rock and Rave Infection. They talked about partying and said that they lived their gimmick. Hemme then began singing.
Match Two - Jay Lethal, Shark Boy and Curry Man w/ So Cal Val vs. Johnny Devine and The Rock and Rave Infection (Lance Rock and Jimmy Rave) w/ Christy Hemme
This started out as an all out brawl. Curry Man and Christy Hemme even did some dancing. After some back and forth action, Jay Lethal countered the Devine Intervention and hit the Lethal Combination for the victory.
Winners Via Pinfall - Jay Lethal, Shark Boy and Curry Man
After the match, Jay Lethal went to propose to So Cal Val again, but she said she lost the ring. Lethal was upset, threw down the mic and left.
In the back, Jeremy Borash spoke to Lance Smith from CMT. The two talked about their jobs and who they got to work with. Super Eric walked in and said that if they could find the ring, they could save the love.
Jeremy Borash caught up with Samoa Joe as he was arriving and told him how Booker T promised a tour of the Six Sides of Steel. Joe said to make it a party of three and invite Sting, because only he would walk out.
A package was then shown highlighting the Samoa Joe/Booker T/Sting saga.
Mike Tenay and Don West then discussed the situation and said that they needed to hear from Sting.
Jeremy Borash spoke to Kevin Nash, who said he wanted to find Samoa Joe. Joe told JB and Nash that Booker T was punking him out and that Sting was involved. Nash asked Joe if he knew it was Sting for sure. Nash told Joe that they were going to handle things his way.
Booker T came out and called out Samoa Joe to give him a tour of the weapon's filled Six Sides of Steel. Joe came out and told Booker that he knew the lights were going to go out and that if he entered the cage, he was going to beat Booker up. Kevin Nash came out and held the door shut, and just when Booker thought that Joe didn't have backup, Joe whipped out a police baton. Joe beat on Booker as Nash held the door. Sharmell came out and Nash dragged her away. The beating continued until a bat dropped from the ceiling. Booker grabbed the bat and beat on Joe, before thanking Sting.
Another package to hype Sheik Abdul Bashir was shown.
AJ Styles then came out to the ring and called out Sting. He said that he's been defending Sting and knows that there is a reason for Sting's actions. The lights go out and Sting's music plays, but when they come back on, Kurt Angle is there. Angle then hit Styles with an Angle Slam. He then proceeded to hit two more Angle Slams before standing over Styles victoriously.
Backstage, Jeremy Borash spoke to the Beautiful People. Shark Boy and Curry Man walked in and demanded to know where the ring was. They didn't give them any answers and walked off.
Lauren spoke to Petey Williams and Rhakka Kahn, who said that Consequences Creed will fall in defeat. Lauren said that Williams was taking Creed too lightly, but Williams felt as though Creed still needs to prove himself.
Hermie Sadler then came out and joined Mike Tenay and Don West for commentary.
Match Three - Petey Williams w/ Rhakka Kahn vs. Consequences Creed
This was a good match. Rhakka Kahn tried to get involved, but Creed was able to overcome the odds. He reversed a Canadian Destroyer into a pinfall attempt and was able to secure a victory, thus proving himself to Williams.
Winner Via Pinfall - Consequences Creed
Jeremy Borash then spoke to the Prince Justice Brotherhood. They accused LAX of stealing the ring. They then tried to act like LAX, which led to LAX telling them to take a hike. Super Eric came by and said that there was a break in the case.
Lauren spoke to AJ Styles who said he couldn't understand what Sting was up to, where he is hiding or when he will show up. He said that if Kurt Angle wants to lay him out, he can try again at Hard Justice, as the two will be competing in a Last Man Standing match. He then says that Angle will not get up.
Jim Cornette then joined Mike Tenay and Don West on commentary and hyped Hard Justice.
Karen's Angle continued with her special guest, Kaz. He talked about the impact he made in TNA and said that now he has to find himself. He and Karen hugged, as Tomko appeared on the scene and scared her.
Lauren spoke with Kevin Nash, who said that he knows this side of Sting. He said that something has pissed Sting off. Samoa Joe then walked in and said that he was going up to the rafters and he was going to break every bone in Sting's body. Nash says that it's a bad plan.
Match Four - Sal Rinauro vs. Matt Morgan
Winner Via Pinfall - Matt Morgan
After the match, Matt Morgan called out Tomko for scaring Karen Angle. Tomko came out and the two brawled as security tried to break things up. Morgan hit a Bicycle Kick on Tomko and laid him out.
Jeremy Borash once again caught up with the Prince Justice Brotherhood. Super Eric says that he watched the last edition of Impact and said that Sonjay Dutt stole the ring. He says that he will take care of him on the next edition of Impact.
Team 3D and Beer Money were shown celebrating. They then vowed to take out LAX, Christian Cage and Rhino on the next edition of Impact and promised that someone was going through a table.
Rough Cuts with Taylor Wilde was shown with comments from Bill DeMott. They talked about how some of the Knockouts were not happy with her winning the TNA Knockouts Championship and how she has a target on her back.
Match Five - The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) vs. Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde
Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde took the fight right to the Beautiful People and overcame their cheating ways. Wilde and Kim were able to work well as a team and pick up the pinfall victory.
Winners Via Pinfall - Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde
After the match, The Beautiful People attacked Gail Kim and Taylor Wilde, leading to a brawl. Awesome Kong came back and hit a Kong Bomb on Kim, as Wilde was forced to watch one. Kong then hit a Kong Bomb on Wilde. ODB came out and The Beautiful People powdered. The two stood off, as Roxxi Laveaux ran out with a steel chair, forcing Kong to leave as well. Traci Brooks was also there to watch.
Samoa Joe was then shown searching the rafters for Sting, but all he found was a bird, as the mystery of Sting continues.
