Impact: A phenomenal reunion
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

On the last edition of Impact, AJ Styles, Christian Cage, Rhino and Karen Angle fell victim to an overly upset Kurt Angle and posse. On this edition of Impact, Cage and Rhino look to gain a measure of revenge, as they take on Team 3D. Will the old running mates beat the tag team specialists? Read the report and find out!

Jay Lethal was shown at the Pink Taco waiting for Sonjay Dutt.

A package was shown to highlight the last edition of Impact, as Mike Tenay and Don West did their usual welcome. It's interesting to note that June 19, 2008 is the actual six year anniversary date of TNA.

Match One - Booker T vs. BG James

Booker T went right on the attack and beat on BG James. James tried to mount a comeback, but Booker T was able to finish him off with the Axe Kick.

Winner Via Pinfall - Booker T

Backstage, Jeremy Borash spoke to Samoa Joe and said that there might be some truth to what Kevin Nash said last week. Joe went off, as Nash walked in. Nash and Joe went back and forth. Joe asked Nash when the last time he beat Booker T was. Nash said he did, but Booker told him to do it today and prove it. Nash told Joe he was going to prove he could make this a mental game.

Mike Tenay talked about the World X Cup as a package was shown.

Match Two - World X Cup Match - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. Team International (Tyson Dux and Shawn Daivari)

This was a really good match. The Motor City Machine Guns took the heavy offense to Tyson Dux and Shawn Daivari, finishing off Daivari with a sliced bread number two.

Winners Via Pinfall - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

World X Cup Standings
1. Team TNA: 1 point
2. Team International: 0 points
2. Team Japan: 0 points
2. Team Mexico: 0 points

AJ Styles was shown attacking Kurt Angle outside his car, or so he thought. It actually turned out to be Frank Trigg.

A package was shown on Gail Kim, with excerpts from Scott D'Amore and Pat Kenney (Simon Diamond).

Karen Angle joined in live from Pittsburgh. Karen said that she didn't remember what happened, but was glad she was okay. She said she wasn't going to run away from Kurt Angle, and that she would be back on the next edition of Impact.

Jay Lethal was shown still waiting at the Pink Taco.

Highlights were shown of LAX's title defense on the last edition of Impact, as well as the post match beating.

Jim Cornette made his way into the Impact Zone and called out LAX who issued a challenge on the last edition of Impact. Hector Guerrero grabbed the mic and said that they made a challenge for Victory Road. They want a Fan's Revenge match, where 12 TNA fans will surround the ring with leather straps, as LAX takes on Robert Roode and James Storm. Guerrero said that they woke up their Latino fire and signed the contract for LAX. Cornette then called out Storm, Roode and Jackie Moore, but only Moore came out. She said that she didn't know where her team was, but was signing the contract on their behalf. Her and Salinas got into an argument and Cornette booked a match for them for later on Impact.

The Awesome Kong, Riesha Saeed and Jeremy Borash then came out for the Awesome Kong $25,000 Challenge. They asked for a volunteer and got one in the form of Shantelle Taylor.

Match Three - Awesome Kong $25,000 Challenge - Awesome Kong w/ Riesha Saeed vs. Shantelle Taylor

Shantelle Taylor got some offense in, even dropkicking a chair into Awesome Kong's face, however, Kong countered her hurricanrana attempt and planted her with a Kong Bomb.

Winner Via Pinfall - Awesome Kong

Backstage, Team 3D put Rhino through a table.

Jeremy Borash caught up with Sonjay Dutt, who said he was going to tell Jay Lethal that So Cal Val loved him and he loved her.

A package was shown to highlight Kaz.

Match Four - World X Cup Preview Match - Alex Kozlov (Team International) vs. Kaz (Team TNA)

Solid back and forth match. Alex Kozlov had things under control, but Kaz fought back. Kozlov missed a springboard splash, and got hit with the Wave of the Future for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Kaz

Backstage, Jeremy Borash was with Christian Cage, who said that Rhino had a concussion and wouldn't be able to compete in the main event. He said however, that he saw this as a "phenomenal opportunity."

A Rough Cuts segment was shown featuring Matt Morgan.

Sonjay Dutt showed up at the Pink Taco and said that he had bad timing. He then said that So Cal Val was in the love with him, leading to the two brawling.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash caught up with Team 3D who ranted about Christian Cage. Team 3D said they knew that Cage was going to bring AJ Styles to tag with him and said to bring it.

Match Five - Salinas vs. Jackie Moore

Salinas took the fight to Jackie Moore, but Moore came back with some ground and pound offense. She then laid Salinas out with a DDT and locked on a guillotine choke that forced Salinas to tap.

Winner Via Submission - Jackie Moore

After the match, Jackie Moore grabbed a belt and whipped Salinas.

Match Six - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) vs. AJ Styles and Christian Cage

AJ Styles and Christian Cage met Team 3D on the ramp and brawled all throughout the Impact Zone. The match got underway in the ring and eventually broke back down into an all out brawl. Cage was able to dodge Brother Ray's attack and send him to the floor, as Styles hit an Asai DDT on Brother Devon for the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall - AJ Styles and Christian Cage

After the match, Frank Trigg walked out and argued with AJ Styles. Styles called him into the ring, but from behind Kurt Angle attacked. He then locked in the Ankle Lock on Styles to round out another edition of Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and would like to wish his father, John, and brother, Bryan, a very happy birthday!
