ECW: Kane and Big Show face-off
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: Kane and Big Show are scheduled for a confrontation to preview their ECW Championship match at Night of Champions. Should be a good one!

And we are TAPED! from San Jose, Calif. Mike Adamle and "The Tazz" are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-14DLSV).

Match #1 - Hornswaggle (Belfast, Northern Ireland) vs. Armando Estrada (Havana, Cuba)

An international affair here on ECW.

Hornswaggle gets Estrada to chase him outside the ring. Hornswaggle pulls a bucket of marbles out from under the ring, pouring them out and Estrada slipping on them. He just completely bit it. It was great.

Inside the ring, he hits him with a squirt gun. Hornswaggle goes under the ring but comes back out while Estrada is still looking. He eventually pulls Finlay out, who soaks him some more before going back under. Finlay throws him back in the ring and Hornswaggle hits the Tadpole Splash.

Winner via pinfall: Hornswaggle

Match #2 - Matt Striker (New York City) vs. Evan Bourne (St. Louis, MO)

Striker lands the first big blow of the match with a swinging neckbreaker with Bourne hanging over the top rope. It doesn't last long, though, as Bourne starts with some high flying offense before he gets a big boot to the stomach region. Bourne eventually gets to the top rope and knocks Striker down and then hits something I haven't seen in a long time the Shooting Star Press for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Evan Bourne

After the match, Mike Knox attacks and hits the corkscrew faceplant on Bourne.

Match #3 - Mike Knox (Phoenix, Ariz.) vs. Kofi Kingston (Jamaica)

According to Adamle, Knox is "so mean he doesn't even like himself." Ha!

Again, this is your typical Knox formula. Speed against power. Kofi gets off to a quick start but then the plodding begins. Kofi starts to get the edge but then Shelton Benjamin's music starts up and Benjamin comes right in and hits a sweet double leg.

Winner via disqualification: Kofi Kingston

The two continue to go at it with Knox eventually eating an enziguri, as Kofi escapes out of the ring.

Finlay is backstage with Theodore Long. Long hands Finlay a contract to sign so Finlay and Hornswaggle can face John Morrison and The Miz for the WWE Tag Team Championship at Night of Champions. Hornswaggle bites Tiffany on the hand. Miz comes in and objects to the matchmaking. Miz says Long can't be serious. For that, Finlay lays him out with the shillelagh.

Match #4 - CM Punk (Chicago, Ill.) vs. John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.)

It's an extremely competitive and back-and-forth match to start before Morrison starts to work over Punk's ribs. He stretches him out, hangs him over the top rope, kicks him, knees him, stomps him the works.

Punk is able to counter for GTS, but Morrison slides out and responds with a knee to the gut, followed by a soccer kick. Some falls don't go Morrison's way and Punk is able to hit the running knee and a quick power slam for two. But Morrison quickly regains the edge, sliding out to the apron and hitting a kick to the ribs. Morrison tried to springboard but Punk caught him and hit GTS!

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

When the referee counted three, Al Michaels slipped into the commentary booth and exclaimed, "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES? YES!" Indeed, Punk has won.

In our main event segment, ECW General Manager Theodore Long introduces both participants in the ECW Championship match at Night of Champions the Big Show followed by Kane.

Long says they now have the chance to say whatever they want to say to each other. I can hardly contain my excitement.

Show says they have a long history, but Kane has something he wants the ECW Championship.

Kane fires back and says Show has no idea what he'd do to keep the ECW Championship. Show says he went through hell to get the match and will put Kane through hell to win it. Kane says hell is standing right in front of him as they engage in a staredown as Mark Henry's music hits.

Henry comes to the bottom of the ramp and tells them to calm down since they're going to need to save their strength because if he's not drafted Monday, he'll be coming after the winner of the match. (Please draft him, PLEASE!). Of course, Kane and Show no likey this and dispatch the World's Strongest Man with a double chokeslam and stare each other down to end the show.
