Impact: Angle feels the wrath of Kong
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
Well Slammiversary is in the books and Samoa Joe is still the TNA Heavyweight Champion. As per the stipulation in last week's King of the Mountain match, Samoa Joe must now defend the belt against Kaz on this edition of Impact. Also on tap, Kurt Angle goes up against AJ Styles in a Lumberjack rematch. All this and more on Impact.
This show was dedicated to Kevin Sinex (1963-2008). He was the crew member that died in the scaffolding accident at Slammiversary.
Slammiversary highlights were shown as Mike Tenay and Don West did their usual welcome.
Match One - TNA Heavyweight Championship Match - Samoa Joe (C) vs. Kaz
This was a solid match. Plenty of back and forth action, with Samoa Joe hitting the Muscle Buster on Kaz for the pinfall victory.
Winner Via Pinfall and STILL TNA Heavyweight Champion - Samoa Joe
After the match, Booker T came out and ran down Samoa Joe, calling him a "paper champion." He said that if it wasn't for Kevin Nash, he wouldn't have beaten Booker T. Booker told Joe that the door to his lockeroom would be open and he wanted to see what kind of champion Joe really is.
Backstage, Lauren spoke with Kurt Angle, who announced that Karen Angle signed a talent contract with Spike and since the network won't allow violence against women, he has put a hit on her that can be executed by any of the TNA Knockouts. Kurt said that by the end of the night, both her and AJ Styles would be laid out and that this would be Karen's last night in TNA.
Jeremy Borash then caught up with Davari, who will be leading Team International in the World X Cup. Davari rambled on and said he would destroy the other teams. Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed then walked in and said the beatings will continue and blood will be shed.
Match Two - World X Cup Preview Match - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) vs. Naruko Doi and Masato Yoshino
This was another good match. Strong style shown here, as The Motor City Machine Guns, Naruko Doi and Masato Yoshino exchanged vicious kicks and stomps. The Guns were able to get things under control, sending Doi to the floor and hitting Yoshino with a double superkick for the win.
Winners Via Pinfall - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)
Backstage, Jeremy Borash was with Karen Angle, and told her that Kurt Angle put a hit on her. She said that Kurt should call the hit off for the sake of the kids. As Borash was about to go find Kurt, The Beautiful People walked in and confronted Karen. AJ Styles ran in and made the save and told them to tell Kurt that if he wanted to get to Karen, he had to go through him first. The Beautiful People told him that they were above this drama and if he wanted a real woman, he knew where to find them.
In the back, Lauren spoke with Kevin Nash who said that Booker T touched him and brought him into the match. Samoa Joe then went out into the Impact Zone and called out Nash, saying that Nash was so opinionated and that he wanted Nash to say what he had to say to his face. Nash told Joe that they should handle this in the back, but Joe said that whatever he had to say should be said in the Impact Zone. Nash then told Joe that the only reason he was still champion was because he took care of the dirty work. Nash asked for a "thank you," but Joe said that he should be getting thanked for letting Nash ride his coattails. Nash said that he doesn't ride cottails and said that Joe can't beat Booker T, because Booker is already in his head. Joe told Nash to stick it and left.
Jeremy Borash was shown looking for Kurt Angle, who he found with Scott Steiner and Rhaka Kahn. Borash was sent away.
Match Three - TNA Tag Team Championship Match - LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) w/ Hector Guerrero and Salinas (C) vs. James Storm and Robert Roode w/ Jackie Moore
Robert Roode and James Storm were able to tame LAX somewhat, with the help of Jackie Moore. After some back and forth battle, LAX was able to get the upper hand. Eventually, Storm got his hands on a belt and loaded his boot. Hector Guerrero had the referee distracted, as Roode was put up for the Border Toss. Storm slid in and connected with a loaded boot superkick to Hernandez, knocking him out and giving his team the win. Hector Guerrero then explained the situation and after a commercial break, the match was restarted, with Hernandez hitting a sit-out powerbomb on Storm to retain the titles.
Winners Via Pinfall and STILL TNA Tag Team Champions - LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)
After the match, Robert Roode hit Hector Guerrero, Homicide and Hernandez with a steel chair. He and James Storm then handcuffed them to the ropes and with the help of Jackie Moore, whipped them and the referee with leather belts. They then celebrated with the belts and TNA Tag Team titles.
Backstage, The Beautiful People, Gail Kim and ODB were shown brawling.
Match Four - Gail Kim vs. Velvet Sky
Gail Kim attacked Velvet Sky as she made her entrance and the two brawled. Sky was able to mount Kim and land some punches, but Kim battled back and hit a neckbreaker for the win.
Winner Via Pinfall - Gail Kim
After the match, Gail Kim put the brown paper bag over Velvet Sky's head.
Replays were then shown from the TNA Tag Team Championship match.
Backstage, Robert Roode, James Storm and Jackie Moore said that the beatdown was just a little taste of what they can do to LAX. They told LAX that they wanted a fight, but wondered if LAX could actually give them one.
Match Five - World X Cup Preview Match - Curry Man vs. Alex Kozlov
Curry Man had things going his way, until Alex Kozlov countered the Spice Rack and hit a Russian leg sweep, followed by a springboard splash for the victory.
Winner Via Pinfall - Alex Kozlov
Jeremy Borash tried to interview Sonjay Dutt, but he said he had no comment. Samoa Joe and Booker T spoke with each other, with Joe telling Booker that he was giving him a TNA Heavyweight Championship match at Victory Road in Houston, TX. Booker said that he had some homies there and said that he wouldn't let them down. Joe said that it smelt like piss in Booker's lockeroom and gave him the keys to his lockeroom, telling Booker he could use it if he wanted to.
Sonjay Dutt came out and dedicated his match to So Cal Val and said that after he won, he wanted Val to come out and seal the deal with a big kiss.

Frank Trigg then came out to provide commentary for the main event.
Match Seven - Lumberjack Match - AJ Styles vs. Kurt Angle
The lumberjacks were Christian Cage, Matt Morgan, Rhino, Tomko and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon). This was a good main event, that saw all the lumberjacks get involved in some form. Rhino got hti with a reverse 3D on the floor was taken out of the equation. AJ Styles had Kurt Angle rolled up for the pin, but the referee was distracted, allowing Brother Ray to sneak in and hit Styles with a stun gun, leaving him prone to an Angle Slam.
