ECW's taking it on the chin
By TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun

The chants are now so distant, so hollow.

EC-Dub. EC-Dub. EC-Dub.

What was once an unpredictable, intriguing train wreck (and I mean that in a good way) is now ... well, it's working its way into oblivion.

Part of the problem may be Vince McMahon's ego. He couldn't take another product (albeit one that encountered plenty of financial difficulties with its formula) and leave it alone. It had to have WWE tattooed on its belly button.

The passionate crew of ECW lifers was torn apart, replaced with WWE's clone factory.

What's left shows little passion. It has some stars, but they're not ECW. They're WWE through and through.

The unpredictability has gone. And it's a shame.

What we see each week has plenty of high-end moments, but it lacks spontaneity.

EC-Dub. EC-Dub. EC-Dub. The bell is tolling.

TRIPLE H SLAMMED

Scott Steiner let loose on Triple H with recent comments to the Baltimore Sun: "Look at Triple H's career before he started (having sex with) the boss' daughter (Stephanie): He lost to Ultimate Warrior in 30 seconds; he was losing to guys like Alex Wright in WCW; he lost to one of the Godwins in a pig-slop match. And then all of a sudden he's (having sex with) the boss' daughter and he's the toughest guy in the world."

Oh, and there's more: "I couldn't be Triple H because there's no way I could (have sex) with Chyna. And he was doing that before she even got face reconstruction. There has only been two people in the history of the Howard Stern Show where they had them go to the bathroom to make sure (they were women). Chyna and Nicole Bass. And she was on the show after the face reconstruction."

BELL TOLLS FOR UNDERTAKER?

Edge is the new WWE world heavyweight champ ... The Undertaker is gone, forever? Well, Canada's Edge (Adam Copeland) may in fact be the champ (and a mighty fine one at that) after winning his match against The Undertaker at last Sunday's One Night Stand pay-per-view. The stipulation was if The Undertaker lost, he had to leave WWE. Don't bet on that lasting.
