ECW: Estrada sent for a Long walk
By MATT BISHOP - SLAM! Wrestling

Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: The WWE Board of Directors has a surprise up its collective sleeve for General Manager Armando Estrada, who has been abusing his power in recent weeks. Should be a good one!

A cleaning crew is seen clearing out Armando Estrada's office when he asks what they are doing. They tell him the general manager told them to do it. Estrada says he's the GM, but in walks Theodore Long, who hollas at him.

And we are LIVE! in Los Angeles, Calif. Mike Adamle and "The Tazz" are our hosts. This show is presented in WWEHD (TV-14DLSV).

Match #1 - Fatal Four Way - CM Punk (Chicago, Ill.) vs. Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, N.Y.) vs. Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Texas) vs. John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.)

The winner of this match will earn a title match against ECW Champion Kane later in the show. Well, maybe not. Tony Chimel announced that to start the match, but as Morrison was entering, Adamle contradicted that information, saying it will be a non-title match. I guess we'll find out later -- but really, what the heck is the point of wrestling twice in one night if there's not a title shot on the back end?

This one is back-and-forth between all four competitors early on. Dreamer locks in a Texas Cloverleaf on Morrison, but it's broken up by Guerrero, who hits the Three Amigos on Dreamer. He goes to the top for the Frog Splash, but Morrison cuts him off to go for a superplex. Punk breaks that up and Morrison ends up in the Tree of Woe which Dreamer fully capitalizes on. After that, Guerrero gets back up and nails a Frog Splash on Dreamer, who was put down by Punk. But before Guerrero can go for the cover, Punk scoops him up and hits GTS and the streak is over.

Winner via pinfall: CM Punk

Backstage, Long shows Estrada a letter from the Board of Directors saying he has been named the General Manager of ECW. Long tells Estrada it's irresponsible for him to play Estrada, a superstar, as much money as he is. He then says he's putting Estrada in a match tonight with a friend of his from Smackdown! -- the United States Champion, Matt Hardy.

Kofi Kingston is joining the crew on commentary for the following match ...

Match #2 - Shelton Benjamin (Orangeburg, S.C.) vs. Matt Sydal

I think I got Benjamin in this one.

Sydal starts out hot but Benjamin quickly brings him back to Earth. With Sydal out of the ring, Benjamin steps up to Kingston and the two square off before Shelton refocuses on Sydal and power bombs Sydal into Kingston. Holy crap.

Winner via countout: Shelton Benjamin

Kofi isn't stunned long, though, as he rushes Benjamin in the ring. On the outside, Benjamin reverses an Irish Whip and throws Kingston into the steps, which Kingston took very hard.

Match #3 - Matt Hardy (Cameron, N.C.) vs. Armando Estrada (Cuba)

Estrada starts out with a kick attempt but Hardy catches it and hits a clothesline. Hardy hits an elbow to the back, eats a kick to the midsection and the Twist of Fate. Good night now!

Winner via pinfall: Matt Hardy

After the match, Theodore Long comes out and tells the referee to stay in the match because Estrada has one more chance to prove he's worth the money in his contract, so he has another match ...

Match #4 - Armando Estrada (Cuba) vs. Colin Delaney (Rochester, N.Y.)

Colin hits a quick cradle for two, but Estrada gets out and goes for the inverted DDT, but Delaney counters into a roll up for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Colin Delaney

Long and Estrada converge in Long's office with Estrada pleading for his job. Estrada says he'll renegotiate his deal just to stay around for the WWE Draft. Long says he can wrestle on ECW, but not as a contracted wrestler -- just like he did to Colin Delaney. He leaves him with "one more word of wisdom," and walks away. Of course, the camera pans to Ron Simmons. I'll give you one guess as to what he said.

Match #5 - Kane (Hell, Fire & Brimstone) vs. CM Punk (Chicago, Ill.)

OK, since this isn't for the title, can anyone explain what the heck the point of this match is? This makes zero sense on so many levels. Shocking, I know.

The early going is not kind to Punk as he stalks Punk down and makes him pay for even entering the ring with him.

Punk is able to send Kane over the top rope, but, of course, Kane lands on his feet and drags Punk to the outside where Punk promptly eats a big right hand for his troubles.

A big boot by Kane sends Punk to the outside. Can he make it back in?

Well, he got back in, but he's stuck in an abdominal stretch (a pretzel without salt on it, according to "The Tazz").

Kane continues to work over Punk from all angles. Punk starts to work his usual kicks, which start to get to Kane, but Kane responds with a big boot. But Punk is able to respond with three running knees, but he can't get the bulldog as Kane hits a back suplex.

Punk eventually does get the bulldog off the top rope, but only for two. That momentum doesn't last as Kane hits a sidewalk slam and goes to the top and delivers the flying clothesline for two.

With Punk laid out, Kane calls for the choke slam, but Punk kicks out. He goes for a springboard but is caught by the throat again, but again he escapes. Punk somehow lifts Kane up for GTS, but Kane squirms out and finally nails the choke slam.

Winner via pinfall: Kane

After the match, The Miz and Morrison hit the ring and ambush Kane. Kane got Miz by the throat, but Morrison socked Kane with a vicious knee. Miz followed that up with the Reality Check as the two hit the road and celebrate near the ramp.
