Impact: Angle and Styles clash
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

King of the Mountain Qualifying kicks off on this edition of Impact, as Robert Roode takes on Matt Morgan and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles goes toe-to-toe with Booker T. Kurt Angle also attempts to win back his wife, Karen, while LAX looks to gain a measure of revenge against Team 3D. All this and more on Impact!

The show opened with a recap of the last edition of Impact.

Backstage, Team 3D was shown talking into the door of someone's locker room. Jeremy Borash snuck up on them and tried to find out what was going on, but he was shoved out of the way.

Mike Tenay and Don West then did their usual welcome and pitched it to the ring.

Match One - Brother Ray vs. Homicide

Back and forth match, with Homicide almost picking up the win after a Gringo Cutter, however, Brother Devon ran out with a Singapore cane and hit Homicide causing a disqualification.

Winner Via Disqualification - Homicide

After the match, Team 3D beat on Homicide, until Hernandez ran down for the save. Booker T then came out and once again put the odds in Team 3D's favor, helping them take out LAX. Homicide got busted open and put through a table, as 3D yelled at Hector Guerrero.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash spoke with Karen Angle and said that he was happy that the Angles were getting back together. She told him to expect the unexpected, as Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed walked in with a note. The note stated that Kong was offering $25,000 to challenge a fan.

A package was then shown to highlight The Beautiful People.

In the back, Lauren talked to ODB who mentioned how much she hated Angelina Love and Velvet Sky. She promised that later on she would get her revenge.

Mike Tenay announced that Gail Kim strained her ACL and that she would speak on the next edition of Impact.

Match Two - ODB vs. Angelina Love w/ Velvet Sky

ODB had things going her way and was delivering the heavy offense to Angelina Love, when Velvet Sky got involved, knocking out ODB with her own flask, allowing Love to crawl over and pick up the pinfall victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - Angelina Love

After the match, The Beautiful People had the shears and were going to cut ODB's hair, but Roxxi Laveaux ran out and made the save. She then grabbed the shears and was going to cut Angelina Love's hair, but Rudy Charles stepped in and pulled them away. The Beautiful People escaped, as Laveaux went on a rampage and hit Charles with the Voodoo Crusher.

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash were shown walking together.

Mike Tenay and Don West announced that there would be two King of the Mountain Qualifying matches on Impact.

Highlights were then shown from previous King of the Mountain matches.

Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash made their way into the Impact Zone. Samoa Joe announced his four picks as AJ Styles, Rhino, Christian Cage and Booker T. Nash argued with Joe's decision and said that he should have been picked so that he could watch Joe's back. Joe told him that he wanted competition, not someone to watch his back. Nash told Joe that he needs to listen to him, before walking to the back.

Backstage, Jeremy Borash spoke with Kurt Angle and Frank Trigg. Angle mocked Karen Angle and talked about how she would be cleaning the house, doing the laundry and mowing the lawn.

Footage was shown of Jay Lethal proposing to So Cal Val. Lauren was shown backstage with Val, Lethal and Sonjay Dutt. They talked about the wedding, as The Rock N Rave Infection auditioned to be their wedding band. Dutt and Lethal busted on them, eventually leading to them attacking the X Division stars.

Back at the asylum, Abyss was shown sitting in a straight jacket, talking about all the torture he's been through. He says that he is going home.

In the back, Lauren talked to Robert Roode who guaranteed that he would be the King of the Mountain.

Match Three - King of the Mountain Qualifying Match - Robert Roode vs. Matt Morgan

Matt Morgan showed that he was the stronger of the two, tossing Robert Roode around. Morgan showed great intensity, but got carried away, choking Roode in the corner until the referee stepped in between them. Morgan then pulled the ref out of the way, allowing Roode to gather his bearings, roll Morgan up and hook the ropes for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Robert Roode

Eric Young was shown still searching for Elvis.

Mike Tenay and Don West then talked about Slammiversary.

A package was then shown to highlight the Kurt Angle saga.

Kurt Angle made his way into the Impact Zone and called out his wife, Karen Angle. She made her way to the ring, as Kurt told her how happy he was that she finally learned her role. Karen said that she was offended by the way Kurt was treating her. She told him that she wanted a divorce. Kurt threw a fit and asked if she was seeing AJ Styles. She said that Styles was just a friend and that he understood what she was going through. Kurt begged for her to stay, but Karen walked away.

Jeremy Borash spoke with The Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed. Borash told them that Kong couldn't wrestle fans. Saeed said that she had a release form in case Kong were to beat on a fan. She told Borash that he must help them, or he would be Kong's next victim.

A package was then shown to hype the TNA X Division Championship match between Petey Williams and Kaz at Slammiversary.

Lauren was backstage with AJ Styles and talked with him about his relationship with Tomko, Kurt and Karen Angle. Styles said that he and Karen were really just friends. Tomko walked in and complained about Styles losing the TNA Tag Team Championships. Styles fired back and said that he was sick of him and Kurt and he was going to do his own thing. Tomko said he respected that and told Styles that he could do his own thing.

Part Two of the Sting interview was shown, with Sting talking about Jeff Jarrett. He said that he misses Jarrett and said he's gone through a lot. Part three will be shown on the next edition of Impact and will focus on his feud with Ric Flair, as well as Flair's retirement.

Jeremy Borash was shown in the ring with a ladder and the referee holding the title belt. Borash explained the King of the Mountain match and was about to announce the second King of the Mountain Qualifying match, when he was interrupted by The Awesome Kong and Riesha Saeed. Borash said he wanted nothing to do with Kong's challenge, but Saeed forced him to announce it. Saeed had a briefcase with $25,000 and a release form. They searched the crowd for a volunteer to step up and take Kong's challenge. A fan named Melissa stepped up and signed the form.

Match Five - King of the Mountain Qualifying Match - Booker T vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

Back and forth main event. Tomko came down to watch the match, only to get involved, tripping AJ Styles as he went for a springboard on Booker T. This allowed Booker to get up and hit the Book End for the victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - Booker T

After the match, AJ Styles and Tomko had a stand off, with Styles shoving Tomko. Back from the commercial break, with Tomko and Styles brawling. Team 3D and Booker T then joined in and beat on Styles, hitting him with a chain and busting him open. Karen Angle ran down and covered up Styles, before slapping Brother Ray. Karen then ran to the back, as the beating continued. She emerged from the back with Kurt Angle, who had a steel chair and cleared the ring. Karen once again covered up Styles, as Tomko, 3D and Booker told Kurt to look at what was going on. Kurt saw what Karen was doing and pulled her off Styles. He then took the chair and blasted Styles to round out another edition of Impact.
