XPW heads back to Los Angeles this weekend
By MATT MACKINDER - SLAM! Wrestling

Xtreme Pro Wrestling returns this weekend in Los Angeles, and if ticket sales are any indication, this show should be a memorable one to say the least.

The promotion, made famous for its blood and gore and raunchy women, hasn't been in business since 2003. This Saturday's reunion show, Cold Day In Hell, being taped for a future pay-per-view, has limited general admission seats available at Aviation Park in Redondo Beach.

While Rob Black and Lizzy Borden will not be there, names like Sabu, Sandman, Terry Funk , Necro Butcher and Supreme will be on the card, as well as the epic return of The Gangstas -- the controversial New Jack and Mustafa. Vic Grimes was scheduled to be in the main event, but had to bow out due to injury. Sabu and Homeless Jimmy will face Raven and Johnny Webb in the first of two main events, with Necro Butcher and Supreme battling for Supreme's King of the Death Match title in the other hyped bout.

Also taking place Saturday will be the Miss Xtreme contest. One of the many controversies of the original XPW was the women who found their way into roles as managers, valets and general eye candy for fans. However, due to the former ownership, it also contributed to XPW's reputation as "the porn wrestling company," according to TheXPW.com.

The very first XPW show in July of 1999 featured the original Miss Xtreme contest that saw Kristi Myst win. She later become a valet for Big Dick Dudley and then Supreme. The new XPW owners, Big Vision Entertainment and Xtreme Entertainment Group, have added their own twist to the contest by inviting the general public to participate.

"We always liked that fans knew that XPW shows would feature the hottest women in pro wrestling," said XEG CEO Rick Mahr. "With Cold Day In Hell set to feature all of the best that was XPW, it only made sense to keep that tradition alive."

"But this time, the Miss Xtreme contest will go beyond that," Big Vision founder and CEO Houston Curtis added. "We're opening up the contest to ANY female who thinks she has what it takes to be named Miss Xtreme. Whatever it is that makes them fit the name, come on out and show the XPW fans."

XPW officials named Joey Ryan host of the contest that will be held at 7:30 p.m. between the XPW Fan Fest (5:30-7:30) and the supershow itself.

Also for this Saturday, XPW has formed an alliance with one of the music scene’s premiere punk rock and hardcore labels, New Age Records. Five Victim’s Four Grave’s Keep Moving On is the show’s official theme song.

"Music is such an important part of pro wrestling shows, both live and on DVD," said Curtis. "We are thrilled that New Age Records will be providing not only our theme song for the spectacular, but also many wrestler’s entrance songs as well."
