Impact: Team Tomko feels the Sting
CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
TNA continues to trudge forward towards Lockdown, as Team Tomko added a fifth member on the last edition of Impact, in James Storm. On this edition, Storm is set to do battle with "The Icon" Sting, just one week after leveling Sting with a beer bottle. Plus, Tomko and AJ Styles lock up with Christian Cage and Rhino, and Tracy Brooks dukes it out with Payton Banks. All this and more on Impact!
The show began with highlights of the last edition of Impact.
Jim Cornette was shown in his office with Matt Morgan and Jeremy Borash. Cornette was upset, because Morgan allowed James Storm to officially enter Lockdown as Team Tomko's fifth member. Morgan told Cornette that he was just doing his job.
Team Tomko entered the Impact Zone and gloated a bit, before introducing James Storm. Team Cage came out next, wearing Team Cage shirts. They ran down Team Tomko, until Matt Morgan made his way out. Morgan went and shook hands with all of Team Tomko, as Cage questioned what he could do in terms of getting a fifth team member. Team Tomko mocked him, but Cage said that he might have one last ace up his sleeve.
Jeremy Borash caught up with Kurt Angle as he arrived. Angle said that he and AJ Styles were fine and that as far as Karen Angle went, he didn't even know that name anymore. Super Eric arrived and was brushed off by Angle.
Footage was shown from earlier in the day, of a car arriving with Petey Williams hanging onto the hood and Scott Steiner behind the wheel. Steiner went on to say that he had a big announcement regarding his TNA Heavyweight Championship title shot. He also said that he was going to toughen up Williams.
In the back, Crystal spoke with Black Reign, Rellik, The Rock N Rave Infection and Christy Hemme. Black Reign and Rellik called out Super Eric and put him on notice that they were going to finish him off.

Before the match got underway, the Rock N Rave Infection did their mic check. Lots of back and forth action in this one, with Hernandez hitting the Border Toss on Jimmy Rave for the win. After the match, Lance Hoyt, Black Reign and Rellik beat down The Motor City Machine Guns and LAX. Kaz tried to make the save, but was taken out. Finally, Super Eric ran to the rescue and cleaned house.
Winners Via Pinfall - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) and LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)
In the back, Jeremy Borash spoke with Sting, who said it was great to be back and vowed to gain a measure of revenge on James Storm.
Another Rough Cuts segment was shown, with Kip James saying that BG James threw his whole career away for an Armstrong reunion. He then said that the two of them need to go out, fight and settle the score.
Mike Tenay did a sit-down interview with Riesha Saeed and The Awesome Kong. Saeed was very mysterious during the interview and mentioned going to dojos and battling with Kong. She affirmed that fact that Kong's path of destruction will continue.
A package was shown to hype the return of Consequences Creed.
In the back, Crystal caught up with James Storm and Jackie Moore. Storm said that a 20-foot fall didn't stop him and that he was going to defeat "The Icon" Sting.
Match Two - AJ Styles and Tomko vs. Christian Cage and Rhino
This was a great match. Referee Andrew Thomas kept missing Christian Cage's tags to Rhino, allowing AJ Styles and Tomko to cheat behind his back. Finally, Rhino had enough and gored Thomas. Cage then hit the Unprettier on Tomko, while Rhino gored Styles into a backflip. Team 3D ran out to beat on Cage and Rhino, but Kevin Nash ran down with a steel chair to make the save. Jim Cornette then ran out and called for the bell.
Winners Via Disqualification - AJ Styles and Tomko
In his office, Jim Cornette was with Jeremy Borash, yelling at Matt Morgan about all the chaos that was taking place. Morgan offered to be the Guest Referee in the Sting vs. James Storm match and said that he would get Cornette out of the mess he got him into. Cornette agreed and walked off to find a shirt for Morgan. When Cornette left, Morgan pulled out a custom made ref shirt from his back pocket.
Another date was shown between Jay Lethal and So Cal Val. This time they were in a hotel hot tub. They were about to kiss, when Sonjay Dutt floated up from down below and caused all sorts of trouble.
Match Three - X-Scape Qualifying Match - Elix Skipper vs. Shark Boy
Elix Skipper got in some solid offense, but was overwhelmed by Shark Boy, who hit a hurricanrana, followed by The Chummer for the win. Sharky then partook in a post match clam juice bash. Shark Boy joins Curry Man, Sonjay Dutt and Johnny Devine who will all be taking on Jay Lethal in an X-Scape match at Lockdown for the TNA X Division Championship.
Winner Via Pinfall - Shark Boy
Crystal interviewed Tracy Brooks in the back, who said that her bruises have cleared up, but she remembers what Robert Roode and Payton Banks did to her and that payback is a bitch. Angelina Love and Velvet Sky marched in and told Brooks that she already had a match so they were going to let her go, but next time their paths crossed, they were going to do to her what they did to Roxxie Laveaux and take her out.
Back from a commercial break, Crystal caught up with Shark Boy and talked about the X Scape Match at Lockdown as well as Consequences Creed. Curry Man came in and joined Sharky for a comedic exchange and some dancing.
Match Four - Tracy Brooks vs. Payton Banks
Tracy Brooks took the fight right to Payton Banks and finished her off with a running bulldog. After the match, Angelina Love and Velvet Sky ran down and beat on Brooks, with the rest of the Knockouts running out and all out brawl ensuing, until Sharmell ran down with a whip and cleaned house. Booker T then ran down and dragged Sharmell to the back.
Winner Via Pinfall - Tracy Brooks
In the back, Booker T argued with Sharmell about going out there. Sharmell told Booker that she was a wild cat and welcomed him to the jungle.
Another package was shown of Samoa Joe working out in preparation for his TNA Heavyweight Championship match at Lockdown against Kurt Angle.
Kurt Angle then entered the Impact Zone and made an announcement that he wanted Samoa Joe to come out on the next edition of Impact and sign a contract that stated what he said he was going to do, meaning that if Joe lost at Lockdown, he would quit wrestling. Scott Steiner and Rhakka Khan then made their way out and confronted Angle. Steiner told Angle that he was going to cash in his TNA Heavyweight Championship title shot at Sacrifice, to give the winner of the match at Lockdown a little time to prepare, because they couldn't beat Steiner on their best day. Angle went to shake Steiner's hand, but Steiner told him that he hadn't beaten Joe yet and that the way Joe was working out, he doubted that Angle would be champion after Lockdown.
Jeremy Borash was once again shown with Jim Cornette and Matt Morgan. Morgan said that they should have a reverse battle royal TNA Knockouts steel cage match at Lockdown and call it Queen of the Cage. Cornette said he was crazy and told him to go out and ref the match between Sting and James Storm. Cornette then pitched the idea to Borash and they both approved, with Cornette saying that he was glad he thought of it.
Mike Tenay and Don West announced that Riesha Saeed and The Awesome Kong vs. ODB and Gail Kim has officially been added to Lockdown.
Match Five - James Storm w/ Jackie Moore vs. Sting - Special Guest Referee: Matt Morgan
This one started out as an all out brawl, with James Storm getting tossed into the crow, into walls and down the ramp. Jackie Moore tried to get involved, but was caught diving in by Matt Morgan. Behind Morgan's back, Storm hit a low blow on Sting and went for the baseball bat. Morgan stopped him, tossed the bat to Sting, turned away and let Sting crack Storm with the bat, before hitting the Scorpion Deathdrop for the win.
Winner Via Pinfall - Sting
Team Tomko then ran down and surrounded Matt Morgan. Team Cage ran out and made the save, leading to an all out brawl, that saw Morgan join forces with Team Cage, ripping off his referee shirt to reveal as Team Cage shirt.
Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and is glad baseball season is back.
