Countdown to TNA Destination X
By SLAM! Wrestling Staff

TNA returns to the pay-per-view ring tonight with Destination X, and once again its fans are gimmicked to the gills.

Yes, as has become a monthly tradition, we have more non-traditional matches than we do straight-forward bouts. Some will call this Russo-riffic, others will plead for mercy.

Whichever side of the line you sit on though, you will be going into tonight's event with the further development of many of TNA's top feuds. Let's take a look at the action.

SIX-MAN TAG TEAM MATCH

Kurt Angle/AJ Styles/Tomko vs. Samoa Joe/Christian Cage/Kevin Nash

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

I'll let you in on a secret folks. When I mark up the PPVs on a near weekly basis, I use a template from a previous event. Why is this important, you ask? Well you see, for this main event all I had to do was go back to December's PPV and change ONE NAME. Come on TNA, I know you don't book anything in advance, but do you just forget what was done just three pay-per-views ago? Whoever says TNA is great creatively needs to get their head checked. I didn't give a crap about a 6-man then and I sure as hell don't now. Let's hope someone in here smartens up and pulls a Scott Hall. Otherwise, I'll see you six again here in June.

Jason Clevett

Here is this really crazy idea TNA – put your champions in championship matches without stupid stipulations or a million run-ins instead of yet another six man or multi-man or dumb gimmick match. People are plunking down their money to see your shows (in theory) - make the pay-per-views mean something. The faces win.

Matt Mackinder

This will either be a blast or a bust. I see it as chaos and a cluster-you-know-what. Run-ins will be aplenty and a screwy ending seems likely, perhaps with a face or heel turn. I hope for the sake of the viewers that actually pay to watch this that it will be a decent match, but who really knows? I see Nash tapping to Angle.

ELEVATION X MATCH

Rhino vs. James Storm

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

I can't imagine that Jim Cornette will be anywhere near a TV monitor backstage when this match goes on. Sure - scaffold matches are a great way to end a feud (though I don't see this one ending any time soon), but it's also a great way to end a career. I'm guessing that Storm will win, but really I suspect that there won't be any true winners here, only losers.

Jason Clevett

The first elevation X match, while I am sure pretty intense for the wrestlers involved, was nothing to write home about. This is a fairly limited concept. Rhino wins.

Matt Mackinder

Beer seems to be a revolving theme in TNA, so let’s say Rhino wins, but then goes on a drunken rampage and winds up at a hotel with Awesome Kong. Eek!

X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH

Jay Lethal vs. Petey Williams

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

This match is actually pretty fresh and I like the execution so far...well, unless you actually want to count the stupidity of the briefcases and Rhaka Khan (I wonder if she's related to Killer...). This should be a great match if both men are allowed to wrestle a gimmick-free bout. Oh who am I kidding. Lethal wins by DQ and So Cal Liz gets taken out by Khan.

Jason Clevett

Williams has been an afterthought, while Lethal has been a star. This one's a no-brainer but should be a fun match. Lethal wins.

Matt Mackinder

We've got two great workers here. Lethal is due for a major push and Petey has been in a stale briefcase feud with Scott Steiner way too long. Black Machismo retains in a four-star match.

10 LASHES FOR THE LOSER'S LADY STRAP MATCH

Booker T vs. Robert Roode

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

Oh lord. What is TNA trying to do here; channel the memory of Tommy Dreamer/Sandman? I'm guessing we'll get the return of the M.A.K.E. in here, probably siding with Roode. The Canadian wins.

Jason Clevett

A strap match. Hmmm... perhaps Booker will drag Roode to each corner, but Roode will touch them behind him, and then Booker will unwittingly send Roode into the final corner? Roode wins and the feud keeps going.

Matt Mackinder

This feud needs momentum and less of the ladies. Booker gets the win after a scissors kick.

TNA WOMEN'S TITLE MATCH
ODB vs. Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the best TNA has to offer, and the next victim or horrid booking. Come on people - do you think Russo won't screw this up? What's going to happen is Kong will be defeated - by both women. Yes, we'll have co-holders of the singles belt, replicating Jericho-Chyna and the Intercontinental Title.

Jason Clevett

One of the best reasons to watch TNA is the Knockout Division and this should be another demonstration of why. Kong retains her awesomeness and her title.

Matt Mackinder

Kong can’t lose. She’s being booked to be, well, awesome. The gold stays around, er, on her shoulder.

BE THIN AND WIN, OR YOUR CONTRACT IS IN THE GARBAGE BIN MATCH
Curry Man/Shark Boy vs. Team 3D

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

I'm betting Bubba or D-Von is looking at this match and thinking they should lay down. Should that not happen, since the loser leaves stip is here, I could see either Dudley being pinned by Curry, then go on a month long investigation and eventually show that Mr. Hot and Spicy is Christopher Daniels, thus rendering their match void since the Fallen Angel is not supposed to be in TNA anymore.

Jason Clevett

Team 3-D wins.

Matt Mackinder

Booooooooring! Will 3D lose? No chance, but get back to WWE soon, OK?

TAG TEAM TITLE NUMBER ONE CONTENDERS MATCH

LAX vs. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Rock 'n Rave Connection

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

This one has to be MCMG's match. LAX is on the way up but they need more of a push behind them.

Jason Clevett

Please, please, PLEASE give this some time to really get going, as you have some incredible talent in this match that can really go. This could be a show stealer if they let it. Hard to pick here, so I am just going to go on a whim and say LAX.

Matt Mackinder

I've got to go with my hometown boys in Sabin and Shelley. Common sense would give them a tag title run soon, but with the way TNA is booked, that's likely to go to Shark Boy and Curry Man. D'oh!

TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH

Kaz/Eric Young vs. Rellik/Black Reign

SLAM! Predictions

Jon Waldman

Oh god. I'm not even going to comment here. Someone wins, someone loses, and the world is flooded as everyone watching this PPV simultaneously flushes their toilets during this unofficial break in the PPV.

Jason Clevett

Kaz and Reign are still feuding? Um, lets go Kaz & Young.

Matt Mackinder
Kaz goes from main event matches to THIS? Ugh! Dustin and Stamboli, er, Black Reign and Rellik take this one that hopefully, will be the curtain jerker..
