Impact: Cage cornered in the cage
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

TNA is headed into Destination X, but before we get there, we still have one more episode of Impact on tap. On this week's edition, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles takes on Kevin Nash in a Street Fight, Tomko faces Samoa Joe in a First Blood match and in the main event, Christian Cage takes on Kurt Angle in a Six Sides of Steel match. All this and more on Impact!

The show begins with a recap of last week's edition. In the back, Kurt Angle was shown giving a pep talk to the Angle Alliance. Apparently, if they win two of the three matches on Impact, they get a man advantage at Destination X. AJ Styles and Kurt argued a little bit over Karen Angle, but eventually, Kurt made his point clear and told the Angle Alliance to win it all.

Jim Cornette was shown in the ring with Matt Morgan. Cornette stated that the team that wins at least two out of three matches on Impact between the Angle Alliance and Christian's new "Coalition," would gain an advantage at Destination X. Cornette then brought out Booker T. Cornette told Booker that his match with Robert Roode at Destination X would be a Strap match, with Traci Brooks in Booker's corner and Ms. Payton Banks in Roode's corner. Whoever loses, their manager gets whipped. Roode came out and told Booker that he didn't want to put a women in harm's way like Booker did. They jawed a little bit and brawled.

In the back, Crystal caught up with Christian Cage, Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash. They explained that the advantage was, the losing team would have to start a man down. Regardless, Cage and his posse talked about defeating the Angle Alliance and going into Destination X, looking strong.

Match One - Street Fight - AJ Styles vs. Kevin Nash

Mike Tenay explained that the one man advantage would only be for the first five minutes of the main event. This was a back and forth match, with AJ Styles going to work on the knees of Kevin Nash. Nash was able to fight back and connect with a chokeslam for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Kevin Nash

Backstage, Crystal spoke to Black Reign, who talked about scaring Eric Young and getting revenge on Kaz. After a commercial break, Crystal was shown with So Cal Val and Jay Lethal. She asked them about their date, but Lethal said he had a Battle Royal to win first and then a date. Meanwhile, Traci Brooks and Ms. Payton Banks were shown brawling in the back.

Jeremy Borash found Eric Young who said that he tried to save Kaz, but he was still scared of the monsters. Back inside the Impact Zone, Team 3D did their weekly weigh-in, with Brother Devon passing and Brother Ray failing.

Match Two - Battle Royal to Add a Stipulation To Winner's Match at Destination X - Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley vs. Jay Lethal vs. Homicide vs. Lance Hoyt vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Eric Young vs. Shark Boy vs. Hernandez vs. Black Reign vs. Rellik vs. Curry Man vs. Petey Williams

Scott Steiner and Rocka Khan came out to watch over Petey Williams. This was an all out brawl, typical battle royal, with Rellik throwing Curry Man over and out, however, he landed on the back of Jimmy Rave on the floor, re-entered the ring and eliminated Rellik for the win. After the match, Curry Man got on the mic and started speaking Japanese, so Shark Boy stepped in and did the talking for him. He said that if Team 3D lost or didn't make the weight at Destination X, they would be gone from TNA for good, but if they did make the weight, they wanted a Fish Market Street Fight. Oh Shell Yeah!

Winner - Curry Man

Jeremy Borash spoke with Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, who ran into Roxxie Laveaux. Laveaux said that she had a premonition last week and they didn't listen to her. They apologized and told her that they wanted to give her a free makeover on the next edition of Impact.

Match Three - First Blood Match - Tomko vs. Samoa Joe

This was another all out brawl with lots of weapons used. Tomko was eventually able to use a steel chair and smack Samoa Joe. Joe fired back and locked in the rear naked choke as the referee called for the bell. A trickle of blood was shown coming from Samoa Joe's arm as a result of the chair shot and therefore the match had to be called.

Winner Via Drawing First Blood - Tomko

A package was shown highlighting the now rocky relationship between BG James and Kip James.

Jeremy Borash caught up with James Mitchell, who when asked about Abyss, said that Judas Mesias got rid of Abyss. He then went on to say that Mesias had a taste for blood, a taste that would be fulfilled in his match against Rhino.

Match Four - Rhino vs. Judas Mesias w/ James Mitchell

Prior to the match getting underway, Rhino brought out the TNA Drinking Championship and destroyed it. This match started out as a brawl and ended with Judas Mesias missing a splash and getting laid out with the Gore! After the match, James Storm hit the ring and hit the Last Call on Rhino, as Jackie Moore collected the broken pieces of the TNA Drinking Championship belt.

Winner Via Pinfall - Rhino

In the back, Crystal was with Reisha Saeed and The Awesome Kong. She read a statement from The Awesome Kong that said that Salinas would be destroyed and come Destination X, so would Gail Kim and ODB. Homicide and Hernandez walked in, with Homicide hitting on Saeed. Kong stepped in and grabbed Homicide, as Hernandez stepped in between them.

Match Five - The Awesome Kong w/ Riesha Saeed vs. Salinas

SQUASH!

Winner Via Pinfall - The Awesome Kong

Backstage, Crystal spoke with ODB and Gail Kim who said that The Awesome Kong looked to be unstoppable, but that she would be brought down at Destination X and the better wrestler would win.

Match Six - Six Sides of Steel Match - Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage

This was a solid main event, with both stars going all out. The match was contested under escape only rules and the winner would win the best two out of three series for their team and gain the one man advantage for five minutes at Destination X. (Got all that?) After an excellent back and forth match, both men fought their way up and over the cage and fell to the floor. Referee, Earl Hebner declared that Christian Cage hit the ground first and was the winner. This prompted AJ Styles and Tomko to run down and toss Cage into the ring, lock the door and perform a three on one beatdown, as Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash ran down and tried to make the save, however they couldn't get into the cage. The Angle Alliance continued their beatdown and left Cage laying to round out another edition of Impact.

Winner Via Escaping the Cage - Christian Cage

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and is a pretty good bowler.
