Impact: Styles dons the stripes
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

The road to Against All Odds continues to take some unique turns. On this edition of Impact, Kurt Angle takes on Tomko in a Non-Title match, with Angle Alliance member and TNA Tag Team Champion, AJ Styles as the guest referee. Will Styles help his boss or show some loyalty to his tag team partner? Those questions are answered on this episode of Impact.

The show began with a video package highlighting Tomko. In the back, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle argued over the main event match with Tomko. Styles stepped up to Angle and reminded him that he was a multi-time TNA Heavyweight Champion. Angle bashed Styles until Styles had enough and left. Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped the show as well as the Six Man match-up for the TNA X Division Championship.

Team 3D and Johnny Devine came out and ran down the X Division. Jay Lethal and The Motor City Machine Guns then interrupted and mocked them, wearing their old outfits. This whole episode led to a brawl, which saw Jay Lethal get busted open and the Motor City Machine Guns laid out. Team 3D and Devine then gave them fair warning not to show up at Against All Odds, before laying in some extra singapore cane shots.

Mike Tenay then talked about the X Division incident and showed some replays. In the back, Crystal was with Scott Steiner and Petey Williams. Steiner was cool with the X Division title shot, until Crystal reminded him that Team 3D and Johnny Devine could eliminate the X Division. Steiner questioned Williams and the two got ready for their tag match. Christy Hemme came out and did a sound check, leading to...

Match One - Petey Williams and Scott Steiner vs. The Rock N Rave Infection (Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt) w/ Christy Hemme

Good match, the end came when Petey Williams got the hot tag in, only to get leveled by Scott Steiner with a breifcase. Steiner left with both cases, as The Rock N Rave Infection picked up the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - The Rock N Rave Infection (Jimmy Rave and Lance Hoyt)

Bullet Bob Armstrong and BG James were shown training for their TNA Tag Team Championship match.

Match Two - Hernandez w/ Homicide and Salinas vs. Kip James w/ Roxxie Laveaux

Roxxie Laveaux accidently hit Kip James with some powder, giving Hernandez the opportunity to capitalize and put James down for the count. After the match, James fired Laveaux. Another BG James vs. Kip James feud coming up.

Winner Via Pinfall - Hernandez

Jeremy Borash was in the back with AJ Styles and Tomko. Styles tried apologizing to Tomko, but he didn't care. He told Styles to stay out of his way. Mike Tenay then hyped UFC All Access and UFC 81: The Destruction of Brock Lesnar.

A package was then shown of Kurt Angle talking about Brock Lesnar. They also showed comments from Frank Mir. Up next was a package of the Barbed Wire Massacre Two match that will be shown at Against All Odds.

Match Three - Judas Mesias w/ James Mitchell vs. Cory Chavis

SQUASH! After the match, James Mitchell said that at Against All Odds, Judas Mesias was going to end Abyss' career.

Winner Via Pinfall - Judas Mesias

Stone Cold Shark Boy then hit the ring and issued an open challenge. When the challenge went un-answered, he accused his referee, Mark "Slick" Johnson of saying something to him. He told Johnson if he was afraid of Shark Boy he could leave, but instead he ate a Shark Boy Stunner, as did the security that came to make the save. This whole segment was capped off with a Clam Juice celebration.

Jim Cornette came out and hyped Against All Odds. He then called out AJ Styles and officially announced that Styles would be the referee for the Impact main event between Kurt Angle and Tomko. Cornette told him that he would count the three for someone, or else his TNA Contract would be terminated. Styles tried to beg, but Cornette said that it was on.

In the back, Crystal was with The Awesome Kong and her ambassador, Raisha Saed. Saed said that if the Knockouts stayed out of Kong's way they would be safe, but if they got in her way, they would be destroyed.

Match Four - ODB vs. Roxxie Laveaux vs. Angelina Love

This was a pretty good match. ODB hit the running powerslam on Roxxie Laveaux, only for Angelina Love to hit the referee and break up the pin. Love then made the cover herself and got the win. After the match, ODB and Love argued and ODB laid her out.

Winner Via Pinfall - Angelina Love

Jeremy Borash was in the back with neck brace and all. He asked AJ Styles what he was going to do about the main event. Kurt and Karen Angle showed up and said that Styles would count the tree for them. Tomko then showed up, leading to a huge brawl that was broken up by security.

Don West then recapped what happened at Final Resolution between Robert Roode and Sharmell. Mike Tenay was in the ring and introduced a video package in which Booker T said that he would be back soon and thanked everyone for their support during Sharmell's recovery. Robert Roode then ran out and said that he hoped Sharmell got the flowers and candy he sent. He then told Mike Tenay to go to a commercial break.

Match Four - Eric Young, Sonjay Dutt and Tracy Brooks vs. James Storm, Robert Roode and Payton Banks w/ Jackie Moore

Good match. Eric Young got finished off with a superkick from James Storm and the Pay Off by Robert Roode. After the match, Booker T ran out and brawled with Roode.

Winners Via Pinfall - James Storm, Robert Roode and Payton Banks

Crystal was in the back with Light Sunshine, or Kaz dressed up. Kaz said that if Black Reign wanted to play games, then on the next edition of Impact, it would be a Rat on a Pole match. Three boxes would have mouse traps and one would have the rat. Wow, thanks TNA.

Jim Cornette and Matt Morgan then came out for the contract signing of Samoa Joe. Kevin Nash came out with Samoa Joe, who was about to sign the contract, however, Cornette didn't bring a pen. Morgan had a pen and threw it at Joe. He then took off his jacket and pie faced Joe. Joe fired back and put Morgan threw table with a backdrop. Joe then proceeded to tear up the contract, as Cornette yelled at Morgan.

Match Five - Kurt Angle w/ Karen Angle vs. Tomko - Special Referee - AJ Styles

AJ Styles was hesistant to count for both competitors. Kurt Angle was able to overcome the power of Tomko and lock him in the Ankle Lock, only for Tomko to roll through and send Angle into Styles and Styles to the floor. Angle and Tomko then clotheslined each other and were both knocked out. As Karen Angle checked on Styles, Christian Cage came out and leveled Angle with the TNA Heavyweight Championship belt. Tomko then got up and hit the TKO as Styles counted a slow three to give Tomko the win. After the match, Karen Angle slapped Styles and yelled at Tomko. In the back, Cage said that Tomko just wanted to do what was best for Tomko and so did he.

Winner Via Pinfall - Tomko

The Impact Recap then played to cap off another edition of Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY, and is once again an Applebees employee.
