Tonight on ECW on Sci-Fi: After pulling a fast one last week, Chavo
Guerrero gets his shot at the ECW World Championship when he faces CM Punk.
Should be a good one!
And we are LIVE! from the University of Virginia for the first time ever
in Extreme High-Definition! And once again, I'm stuck with extreme 20-inch
tube TV action.
Match #1 - Over the Top Rope Challenge - Kane (Hell, Fire & Brimstone)
vs. The Miz (Cleveland, Ohio) vs. John Morrison (Los Angeles, Calif.) vs.
Tommy Dreamer (Yonkers, NY) vs. Shelton Benjamin (Orangeburg, SC)
Well, this is certainly an interesting combination. Not to mention it's
like half of ECW's roster.
Dreamer is the first to go as he is thrown over by Kane. After the
elimination, the three heels triple-team the Big Red Machine, capped off by
Benjamin hitting the Inverted Bulldog. Immediately after, The Miz (HOO-RAH!)
and Morrison start to double-team Benjamin.
With this in progress, Kane sits up and starts to clean house, dumping
both Morrison and Miz before Shelton, who was hanging on the outside of the
ropes, hand-scissors Kane over the top.
Winner: Shelton Benjamin
Just in case you forgot, there ain't no stoppin' him, NAWWWWWW
Coming up next: The ECW Best Body Contest
(Ads)
It's now time for the ECW Best Body Contest (hosted by The Coach!)
between Layla, Lena Yada and Kelly Kelly who get 30 seconds to strut their
stuff. Let me say that Kelly looks outstanding and the audience agrees and
it's Kelly Kelly in a landslide. While celebrating, Layla and Lena
(L-Squared, even) dump Kelly onto her face.
Coming up tonight: The ECW Title is on the line when CM Punk defends
against Chavo Guerrero.

Match #2 - Kofi Kingston (Jamaica) vs. David Owen (Chapel Hill,
N.C.)
If Guns N' Roses wrote a song about ECW it'd be called Squash City and
it could've been played throughout this match.
But, man, let me say that Mr. Kingston has a unique offense. He finishes
Owen off with what Joey Styles calls a "buzzsaw kick."
Winner via pinfall: Kofi Kingston
Backstage, Edge, Chavo Guerrero and Vickie Guerrero are talking and
Vickie lets Chavo know that "the whole family is here tonight."

In this spot, they played a really, really sweet promo for the Royal
Rumble. Find it.

We're back and Tazz is in the ring with the man, the myth, the legend,
Colin Delaney. I almost forgot about this thing. This is such a welcome
pick-me-up right now. I'm already chuckling about who he'll get beat down by
this week. Oh, man, I can't wait. Tazz asks Colin if his mom knows if he's
doing this. He shakes his head no. Now it's the moment we've all been
waiting for...
Match #3 - Colin Delaney (Rochester, NY) vs. The Great Khali
(India)
HA HA HA HA.
Khali hits his chop to the head that sends Delaney directly onto his bum.
Khali picks him up and throws him and then applies the Vice Grip and the
referee immediately calls for the bell.
Winner via referee stoppage: The Great Khali
It gets more amusing every week. If I were in the Impact Zone, I'd be
chanting "This is awesome!" I'd love to see him face The Big Show next
week.
After a quick video package detailing the events of last week, the World
Heavyweight Champion, Edge, makes his way to the ring. The main event is up
next!

Match #4 - No Disqualification Match for the ECW World Heavyweight
Championship - (c) CM Punk (Chicago, Ill) vs. Chavo Guerrero (El Paso, Tx.)
w/ Edge & Vickie Guerrero
Edge, after a strong showing last week, is back on color commentary this
week.
Prior to the introductions, Tony Chimel informs us that this will now be
a No Disqualification match (whatever happened to Extreme Rules?). Styles is
incensed, of course, thinking that Edge and Vickie Guerrero had something to
do with it.
Punk leans over the rope and gives Edge some lip prior to the match. He
yells to Punk to not worry about him.
Punk starts off strong and immediately tries to take advantage of the no
DQ stipulation by taking the cover off a top turnbuckle, but Chavo stops him
and exposes it himself.
Punk is just dominating early, beating Chavo from pillar to post, hitting
dives to the outside and throwing Guerrero into the ring steps, but, as
Gorilla Monsoon used to say, "He went to the well too many times," and when
Punk goes to suplex Chavo onto the steps, Chavo reverses and drops Punk
chest-first onto the steps.
From there, Guerrero works on Punk's upper body, eventually hitting the
Three Amigos. From there, he heads to the top for the Frog Splash, but
Guerrero aborts out of it when Punk moves.
Punk catches Guerrero on the rebound and drops him onto the exposed
turnbuckle. As Chavo drifts back toward Punk, he lifts him up and hits GTS.
But before he can go for the cover, Edge darts from the commentary table and
hits the spear.
Both men are down now. Guerrero slowly crawls to Punk and applies the
cover. One, two, THREE!
Winner via pinfall and NEW ECW Champion: Chavo Guerrero
Vickie Guerrero, Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins come out to celebrate the
title win as they all raise their arms in victory as we fade to black.
Whoa, man, I did not see that one coming whatsoever. (And I say this in
all seriousness.) I figured Punk would be the ECW Champion for the
long-haul. Unbelievable. Great match, albeit a bit short, that really told a
story. Every single bit of the match connected to another part.
I'm extremely (no pun intended) interested to see where this heads. I saw
Punk hanging on to the title until losing it to Shelton Benjamin. Maybe
Colin Delaney can pull the upset.
A man can dream, can't he? See you next week!
