Impact: Kong awesome in beating Kim
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

At Final Resolution, AJ Styles made his decision clear, as he helped Kurt Angle retain the TNA Heavyweight title over his former boss, Christian Cage. On this edition of Impact, The Angles will formally induct AJ Styles as a member of the Angle Alliance. Plus in the main event, Gail Kim defends her TNA Knockouts Championship against The Awesome Kong.

The show began with a recap of Final Resolution. In the back Crystal caught up with Robert Roode and questioned him about breaking Sharmell's jaw. He said that she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and he blamed Booker T for that. He went on to say that he was going out to the ring later on to face Ms. Brooks and to watch what happens to her when Robert Roode Inc. gets done with her. Mike Tenay and Don West then did their usual hype and pitched it to the ring.

Match One - Senshi and Elix Skipper vs. The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Senshi and Elix Skipper attacked The Motor City Machine Guns before the bell. However, The tide turned and the Guns were able to use their tag team expertise to its fullest, picking up the win. After the match, Christian Cage came out and tossed Senshi and Skipper. He then grabbed a mic and said that he and AJ Styles had problems they needed to work out. He said he could deal with Styles wanting to be on his own, but he couldn't deal with Styles costing him the TNA Heavyweight Championship. He told Styles that he gave him everything and now he was going to take it back.

Winners Via Pinfall - The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin)

Crystal was in the back with Jim Cornette. Chris Harris barged in and demanded respect, so Cornette booked him in a match with Judas Mesias. Harris said that was fine and he would be back, Cornette said that if he made it back he would commit suicide. Samoa Joe then came in and asked if Cornette set him up. Cornette told him that he got himself into the mess he was in and he had to get himself out of it. Joe said he would take care of it later.

They showed footage of Jeremy Borash, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle and Karen Angle arriving to the Impact Zone. The Angles said that they were going to officially coronate Prince AJ Styles into the Angle Alliance later on. They then sent Borash to get the bags. Back from a commercial break, AJ Styles was shown with Jeremy Borash and The Angles and he was worried about Christian Cage coming after him. The Angles told Styles to get his tux on and get ready. Styles then told Borash to come hide with him. They bumped into Tomko and Styles hugged him. Tomko told Styles that he was on his own.

Match Two - Judas Mesias w/ James Mitchell vs. Chris Harris

Judas Mesias dominates and puts Chris Harris away with the Straight To Hell.

Winner Via Pinfall - Judas Mesias

In the back, Crystal caught up with Ms. Brooks and told her that she was worried for her and said that she shouldn't get into the ring with Robert Roode. Brooks told her that she wasn't afraid of Roode and she was going to face him in the ring. Footage was shown of James Mitchell saying that he was going to reveal Abyss' secret. Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped a few things and a package was shown to pump the TNA Knockouts Championship match between Gail Kim and The Awesome Kong.

Match Three - VKM (BG James and Kip James) w/ Roxxie Laveaux vs. Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt

This was a pretty good match. The end came when BG and Kip James got into an argument, leading to Kip shoving BG down and getting rolled up by Dutt for the win. After the match, Dutt kissed So Cal Val, while Kip James grabbed a mic and demanded to know who BG James' partner would be on the next edition of Impact.

Winners Via Pinfall - Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt

Crystal asked Christian Cage what he was going to do to AJ Styles when he found him. Styles was shown hiding under a table they walked by. Back from a commercial break, Jeremy Borash was with Styles under the table. Eric Young found them and told Styles to go hide in the Universal Studios park. Styles ran off to hide.

A package was shown highlighting the feud between Johnny Devine, Team 3D and the X Division. Team 3D and Johnny Devine were then shown in the ring. Team 3D boasted about beating the X Division at Final Resolution and proposed a rematch from Final Resolution, but under Hardcore Street Fight rules at Against All Odds. They say that if The X Division wins, they get the X Division Championship belt back, but if they win, the X Division is finished.

Crystal was with security and Samoa Joe as Joe went to find Kevin Nash. He found Nash who had a baseball bat. The two argued and Nash says he doesn't fight for free and told Joe to have Cornette write two checks for $100,000 and then they could fight. He said that he has everything Joe wants and Joe needs his wisdom.

Kurt Angle was shown talking about Gail Kim vs. The Awesome Kong for the TNA Knockouts Championship. Angle picked Gail Kim to win because she has the heart. Footage was shown from earlier in the week of Mike Tenay interviewing Booker T at the hospital where Sharmell was staying. Footage was shown from Final Resolution and Booker said that things have now gotten personal and that Sharmell was going to be back and he was going to take out Robert Roode.

Robert Roode came out and ran down Booker T and Sharmell. He then called out Ms. Brooks and said that a shattered jaw would be nothing compared to what he was going to do to her. Ms. Brooks came out and the two argued. Roode was about to go at it with her when Jim Cornette ran out and put a stop to it. He said that he wasn't going to allow it to happen and said that he should fire Roode, but he wasn't going to. He said he was going to wait for Booker T to come back and take care of Roode himself. Cornette then told Ms. Brooks to walk to the back and security would meet her and walk her off the property. Brooks went leave and was attacked from behind by the Robert Roode stalker. She hit Brooks with a chair, which Roode then used to fend off Cornette. Roode then introduced his stalker as Brooks' replacement, Ms. Banks. Cornette then came back with Matt Morgan and chased off Roode and Banks.

Jay Lethal was then shown talking about the Gail Kim vs. Awesome Kong match. He refferred to it as Wendi Richter and The Fabulous Moolah. Back from a commercial break, Jeremy Borash was shown in Universal Studios, by Revenge of the Mummy. One of the costumed actors came up behind Borash and revealed himself as AJ Styles. Borash told him that Karen Angle specifically wanted him back at the Impact Zone and said that she was waiting for him in the Mens Bathroom and that Kurt Angle didn't know about this meeting. Styles and Borash then rushed back to the Impact Zone.

Match Four - LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) w/ Selena vs. The Rock N' Rave Infection (Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave)

LAX was on their game and brought the fight to Lance Hoyt and Jimmy Rave. Hernandez shoved Lance Hoyt off the top rope and into a guardrail, while Homicide hit the Gringo Killer on Jimmy Rave for the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)

ODB said she didn't care who won between Gail Kim and The Awesome Kong, because she was going to take on the winner for the "TNA Knocked Up Championship." Crystal was with Tomko who again said that AJ Styles was on his own and maybe he had a bit of a schoolboy crush, alluding to his infatuation with Karen Angle.

Match Five - Tomko vs. Shark Boy

SQUASH! After the match they brought out a stretcher for Shark Boy. That Sharky sure can take a beating.

Winner Via Pinfall - Tomko

In the bathroom, AJ Styles and Jeremy Borash found Karen Angle in a stall. She asked Styles to help tie her dress. They told Borash to get lost and she continued to hit on Styles and said that it was his night and he needed to soar. She told him to get on his tux and get ready for the coronation. On the flip side, Crystal was with Kaz who had Misty in a more decorated cage. He then renamed her Marlena. Wow, good jokes on Impact. He continued to say she was materialistic and such, poking fun at the obvious joke. He then said that if Black Reign wanted his rat back, to come and get it.

AJ Styles, Kurt Angle and Karen Angle all came down to the ring, where there was a throne and Jeremy Borash holding a crown. Kurt crowned Prince AJ Styles and talked about how he screwed Christian Cage. Styles kept telling Kurt to stop saying that he screwed Cage. Eventually, Cage came out and ran down the Angle Alliance. Styles stood up for them and went back at Cage. Cage talked about wanting a rematch, when Samoa Joe came out from the other tunnel. He too demanded a title match. Cage said that he and Joe didn't agree on much, but they both could agree that the Angle Alliance needed a beating. Jim Cornette came out and put a stop to it and announced that on the next edition of Impact it would be a Three Way Dance between AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christian Cage. If Joe or Cage won they would get a title shot against Kurt Angle at Against All Odds. If Styles won he would get his choice of a title shot or two months off for Kurt Angle, meaning Angle wouldn't have to defend the belt until Lockdown in April. Angle jumped on that option as Cornette made the deal final. Cage and Joe looked on approvingly.

Gail Kim and The Awesome Kong were shown walking out as Mike Tenay read off the Tale of the Tape. Jeremy Borash was in the ring to ring announce, leading to...

Match Six - TNA Knockouts Championship Match - Gail Kim (C) vs. The Awesome Kong w/ Associate

This one started out as a brawl and made its way to the entrance area. The Awesome Kong missed smashing Gail Kim through the stage and went through herself. Referees and security came out to check on her as we went to commercial break. Back from the break, Kong was on Kim. The associate made an attempt to get involved, but was brushed away by Kim. After some more back and forth action, Kong got a hold of Kim and powerbombed her twice before hitting the Kong Bomb for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall and NEW TNA Knockouts Champion - The Awesome Kong

The Impact Recap then played to round out another edition of Impact.
