Rah-rah-RAW for Jericho
TIM BAINES - Ottawa Sun
The Sexy Beast is back to save the WWE from its banality. In doing so, you can bet Chris Jericho, Y2J, will have a field day with punks such as Randy Orton.
It was hardly a secret that Y2J was returning to RAW. But that didn't diminish the moment, when our hero, the author of A Lions Tale: Around the World in Spandex (the most entertaining wrestling book I've read ... it'd make a great Christmas gift), emerged to reinforce that RAW is Jericho. Orton is a great starting point for Jericho. Orton's brash, he's young and he's wearing the championship belt.
But there'll be others. You can bet that Jericho and Edge will have a war of words or two. And don't be surprised if Triple H is a target down the road.
SURVIVOR SERIES: Batista beat The Undertaker in the main event of Sunday's WWE Survivor Series, with some chicanery from Edge proving to be the deciding factor. Other results: Randy Orton pinned Shawn Michaels after an RKO; CM Punk beat John Morrison and The Miz; Mickie James, Maria, Torrie Wilson, Michelle McCool and Kelly Kelly beat Beth Phoenix, Jillian Hall, Melina, Victoria and Layla; Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch beat Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes; Triple H, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio and Kane beat Umaga, Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, Big Daddy V and MVP; and Hornswoggle was DQ'd in his match against The Great Khali after Finlay interfered.
WWE IN THE GAME: If you're looking for a Christmas gift for a WWE fan/video gamer, Game On has a couple of ideas. You can pick up a WWE Batista/Undertaker PS2 wireless controller. Game One's Double Shock vibration system lets you absorb every bodyslam, clothesline and chairshot.
You can also get Slim Skin covers for PS2, XBox 360 and WII consoles (with WWE characters such as Triple H, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Undertaker, Batista, Ashley, Candice Michelle and Maria). For more information, go to gameongames.net.
AROUND THE RING: Matt Hardy had an emergency appendectomy this week. Said Hardy: "The appendix had already ruptured and the toxins from that rupture were poisoning my body. I am used to the aches from my career, but this was the most miserable pain I had ever experienced. I had cold chills with hot sweats, and just couldn't find a comfortable way to lie down or sit. I felt like I was dying it was so bad." Ouch. He'll be out for up to three months .... Ric Flair will return Monday on RAW. It should be electric with the show in The Nature Boy's stomping ground of Charlotte, N.C. ... WWE will celebrate the 15th anniversary of RAW with a three-hour show on Dec. 10.
