Impact: Sting's partner unknown as Hall passes
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

Genesis is right around the corner, which means Impact will be filled with plenty of hype. On this edition of Impact, Kurt Angle gears up for a tag team main event, Kaz takes on Christian Cage in the Fight For The Right Tournament Finals and Scott Hall makes his return to TNA. Sure there's going to be some hype, but it also looks to be a solid Impact is on tap.

The show began with highlights of the last edition of Impact. Scott Hall was mentioned to have already arrived at the Impact Zone as Mike Tenay and Don West did their big hype job, running down the card.

Match One - Fight For The Right Tournament Finals - Kaz vs. Christian Cage

This was a really hot opener, with Kaz and Christian Cage meshing really well together. Lots of back and forth action that saw Kaz really step up to the plate and deliver some heavy ofense to "The Instant Classic." The match broke down with AJ Styles, Tomko and a ladder getting involved. After getting struck with the ladder, Kaz was easy pickings for Cage who picked up the pinfall victory. However, after the match, Matt Morgan came down and declared that Kaz was cheated and that the match was to be re-ruled a "No Contest." Morgan then set up a rematch, ladder match between Kaz and Christian Cage at Genesis, before taunting Cage on his exit. That should be a really good match and possibly a show stealer at Genesis.

Winner - No Contest

In the back, Jeremy Borash was with Kevin Nash, Kurt and Karen Angle. Kurt and Nash argued about which one of them was to blame for Scott Hall's return to TNA. Karen said she would get to the bottom of it and settle everything, but she didn't want them fighting while she was gone. Crystal was then shown with The Christian Coalition. Christian Cage argued about Matt Morgan's decision, but said that he would defeat Kaz at Genesis. He then said that when he isn't around, AJ Styles is in charge of the Coalition. Styles then challenged Scott Steiner to a Takedown Challenge for later in the show. Apparently Styles went to Gainsville Vocational and was Division III.

Match Two - Gail Kim vs. Alexis Jade

Alexis Jade, better known as Alexa Thatcher, had an excellent showing here. This was one of Gail's best matches in TNA bar none. Jade/Thatcher took the offense to Kim, but was overwhelmed and defeated with the Kryptonite Crunch. After the match, VKM came out and said that Roxxi Laveaux was going to leave Genesis with the TNA Knockouts Championship. Laveaux then attacked and laid out Kim. Angel Williams then came in and laid out Laveaux, ODB followed up by laying out Williams and Kim came back in with a Missle Dropkick to reclaim the belt that had been passed around.

Winner Via Pinfall - Gail Kim

Jeremy Borash was shown in the back with Karen Angle. Karen tried to smooth over Scott Hall, but he said that she needed to get out of his locker room because he had business to tend to with Kevin Nash. Back from the commercial break, and JB was still with Karen Angle who said she was going back to her original plan. She then entered into the men's bathroom. Interesting. Mike Tenay and Don West rambled on a bit, before being handed a note by Matt Morgan that stated that Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt for the X Title was added to Genesis.

Match Three - Abyss and Jay Lethal vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

This was another good match. Very solid Impact. Team 3D showed some dominance. James Mitchell and Black Reign came out and took Abyss out of the match, long enough for Team 3D to hit the 3D on Lethal for the win. After the match, they got a table and laid Lethal out on it and whipped him with their belts until The Motor City Machine Guns ran out and made the save, with Team 3D bailing out.

Winners Via Pinfall - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

In the back, JB and Karen Angle found Kurt Angle and told him that the plan didn't go well, but there was a backup plan. Back from a commercial break, with Kurt coming out to the ring and calling out Scott Hall. He then went to the back to look for Hall, but found Eic Young. Scott Hall came in and told Kurt to stay out of his and Kevin Nash's business. Angle went to attack Hall, but wound up getting slammed into a wall. The Genesis card was then run down -- should be a good PPV. In the back, Crystal was with Scott Steiner who vowed to take down AJ Styles. Styles then made his way to the ring ready for the challenge.

Match Four - Takedown Challenge - AJ Styles vs. Scott Steiner

AJ Styles wasn't getting anywhere until he threw powder at Scott Steiner behind referee Rudy Charles' back. Styles then got three cheap takedowns, before Steiner cleaned up and went to work. He evened up the score and was about to take the lead when Tomko came down and caused the DQ. Rick Steiner ran out and made the save, as The Steiners posed and taunted Styles and Tomko.

Winner Via DQ - Scott Steiner

JB was shown again with The Angles and Kevin Nash. Kurt said that Nash was insane, but Nash said he would take care of business. He also said if Hall does what he normally would then they are in trouble. Back from a commercial break, and Crystal was shown waiting for Sting, but instead, Scott Hall came out and hit on her.

Match Five - Six Man Tag Team Match - Kurt Angle, James Storm and Robert Roode w/ Jackie Moore and Ms. Brooks vs. Sting, Eric Young and Samoa Joe

On the way out, Rain was shown at ringside with a "Why Ms. Brooks?" sign. She will do great if TNA decides to feud Kaz and Ms. Brooks against her and Robert Roode. Great main event to cap off a great episode of Impact. The match broke down with James Storm attempting to hit the Last Call on Sting, but getting reversed and locked in the Scorpion Deathlock, forcing him to tap out.

Winners Via Submission - Sting, Eric Young and Samoa Joe

Kevin Nash came out and called out Scott Hall. The two hashed over their relationship and Hall revealed that he wasn't Sting's partner and hugged Nash. Kurt Angle came out and said he was confused because Nash wants to kill him and Hall attacked him, but he wants to know who the mystery partner is. Sting came out and just stood there, letting Angle know it was still a mystery. The Impact Recap played to finish off another edition of Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and would like to congratulate Alexa Thatcher for her huge accomplishment.
