Impact: Styles/Tomko-LAX deliver great main event
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

TNA is pulling out all the stops for this edition of Impact, which will feature a TNA Tag Team Championship Match between the champs, Tomko and AJ Styles and the challengers, LAX. Plus, The Awesome Kong's reign of terror continues and much more on this edition of Impact!

The show began with highlights of the last Impact, followed by the traditional Mike Tenay/Don West hype job. Kurt and Karen Angle came out to start off the show. Angle was hysterical as usual and basically called out Sting. Sting came out and taunted Angle, who claimed that he was loved, prompting Kevin Nash to come out. Angle told Nash he had enough of him and the two went to brawl, with Sting joining in and a two-on-one beatdown ensuing on Angle. Angle escaped and security came in to separate Nash and Sting. Tenay and West hype that Nash will have a special interview about Sting's mystery partner, they also announce that Junior Fatu will not be at Impact and Christian Cage will be taking on a mystery opponent. Wow, that was a nice ride for Fatu.

Match One - Fight For The Right Tournament Match - Kaz vs. James Storm w/ Jackie Moore

Kaz came right out of the gate and didn't let up on Storm, finishing him off with a bride-pin combination. After the match, Eric Young came down with some beers, leading to a drink off with Storm that left Jackie Moore impressed.

Winner Via Pinfall - Kaz

In the back, Kurt Angle was shown smoking a cigar and getting ready to interrogate TNA as to who the mystery partner is that Sting has. Karen Angle thought he was being ridiculous and said she was going to get to the bottom of things. Jeremy Borash was by Angle's side to join in on the questioning. Crystal was in the back interviewing Kevin Nash who said that he hadn't forgetten how to main event and said that he was going to find out who the mystery partner is.

Team 3D came out and ran down the X Division. The Motor City Machine Guns came out in the X Division's defense. Behind them were Sonjay Dutt, XXX, Havok, Shark Boy and Petey Williams who helped them in going after Team 3D who bailed as the Machine Guns challenged them to a match at Genesis. In the back, Jay Lethal was being interviewed and was talking about how he saw Jake Roberts, Wahoo McDaniel and the Ultimate Warrior walking around. Ha, ha. So Cal Val came in a did a little flirting. Lance Hoyt was then shown with Jimmy Rave and Christy Hemme. Hemme was getting ready to go against the Awesome Kong, but told Rave that she was getting in on her relationship. Rave and her got a bit snippy and Hemme pretty much put them off to go take of business.

Match Two - The Awesome Kong vs. Christy Hemme

Pure domination. Kong Bomb does the job once again.

Winner Via Pinfall - The Awesome Kong

Crystal was with Sting and Eric Young was listening in. Young told Crystal that he knew who the mystery partner was, but she couldn't reveal the secret. Kurt Angle and Jeremy Borash were then shown with Robert Roode. Angle said that he admired Roode's attitude. Roode said that he wore the pants in the family and said that Karen Angle wasn't taking care of business, she was screwing around. This led JB and Kurt to wonder where she was. Mike Tenay and Don West had some banter and then sent it back to Crystal who was with Dustin Rhodes. Crystal asked where Black Reign was and Rhodes said that he wasn't responsible for him. Abyss came in and attacked Rhodes and hit him with his black box where he found a key. Angle and JB were shown doing some more interrogating. He interrogated Chris Harris who said that he was tired of Angle taking over the show. They then interrogated VKM. Angle bashed them and got it right back. Good stuff. Christian Cage was shown complaining about Junior Fatu not showing up and said that he should have received a bye. Cage was then looking for AJ Styles and Tomko, while Kevin Nash was shown angry and on the phone. Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks then made their way out for...

Match Three - Samoa Joe and Gail Kim vs. Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks

This was a real good mixed tag team match. Back and forth action led to Joe taking Roode out of the equation and allowing Kim to roll up Brooks for the win. After the match, Roode verbally assaulted Brooks and was slapped by Kim. Joe then came in leading to a brawl. Back from a commercial break and it was shown that Joe was sent into the steps and hit the corner point, gashing him open. Wow.

Winners Via Pinfall - Samoa Joe and Gail Kim

Back in the interrogation area, Jeremy Borash and Kurt Angle met up with Angel Williams and Talia Madison. JB took over questioning and said it was about the three of them, but Angle stepped in and said it was about Sting. Talia said she knew because Eric Young told them, but they wanted to know what was in it for them. Angle said he sucked with women so JB offered his hotel keys and Talia accepted, only to knee him in the gut. JB said he was feeling some pain so Kurt thought it might be the Powers of Pain. Ha, ha. Mike Tenay and Don West again did some hype for the mystery opponent of Christian Cage.

Match Four - Fight For The Right Tournament Match - Christian Cage vs. Chris Harris

This was another good back and forth match. Cage and Harris always put on a good show together. The end came when Harris had the momentum and got his Catatonic reversed into a rollup, with Cage hooking the ropes and getting the win. After the match, Harris complained and took a ladder shot from Cage. Cage then climbed the ladder and hit Harris with a huge Frog Splash. On the next edition of Impact, it will be Christian Cage vs. Kaz to crown the new number one contender to the TNA Heavyweight Championship.

Winner Via Pinfall - Christian Cage

In the back, Crystal was with Kevin Nash who said that he didn't expect what happened to happen and that he needed to go talk to Kurt Angle. Back from the commercial break, and Eric Young was shown tied up by Kurt Angle. Young said that Sting's partner was the Shockmaster and Angle began hitting him, until JB stopped him. Angle then got rid of them both. Great. Mike Tenay and Don West hyped Genesis a bit, pumping that Gail Kim would be defending her TNA Knockouts Championship in a Four Way against Roxxie Laveaux, ODB and Angel Williams. Team 3D would be taking on The Motor City Machine Guns. Robert Roode would be going up against Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle would be defending his TNA Heavyweight Championship in a tag team match with Kevin Nash vs. Sting and his mystery partner. Black Reign showed up and said that Abyss took the key to his worst nightmare, because at Genesis, he was challenging him to a "Shop of Horror" match. He then promised Abyss that he would unleash his wrath.

Match Five - TNA Tag Team Championship Match - AJ Styles and Tomko (C) vs. LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)

This was a stellar main event. Styles and Tomko showed some good offense, but LAX gave it right back. After a back and forth scuffle, Tomko took down Hernandez with a vicious clothesline, allowing Styles to hit a 450 splash and make the cover for the win. After the match, Styles and Tomko beat down LAX until a Latino Nation member handed Homicide a weapon that he used to clean house with. The Steiners then came out and attacked Styles and Tomko.

Winners Via Pinfall and STILL TNA Tag Team Champions - AJ Styles and Tomko

Kurt Angle found Karen Angle and asks her what she has been up to, telling her that she smelt like cologne. Kevin Nash then ran in and said he knew who Sting's partner was. It was Scott Hall and he would be on the next edition of Impact. The Impact Recap then played to cap off another edition of Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and is pleased with Scott Hall's impending arrival back to TNA.
