Impact: Two hours long, same silliness
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

TNA has come a long way since its debut on the FSN network. Their hard work has certainly paid off as this edition of Impact marks its expansion and movement to primetime. With the ball in TNA's court, TNA is looking to impress with an eight-man tag team main event, pitting Samoa Joe, Junior Fatu and LAX against Christian Cage, AJ Styles and XXX.

The show began with a package that recapped the history of TNA, followed by a new opening montage. Mike Tenay and Don West then did their usual welcome, running down the card and pitching it to the opening match.

Match One - Rhino vs. Black Reign w/ Rat

This was just a crazy segment done "TNA style." Clips were shown of Rhino running in on Judas Mesias after his debut. During this match, Raven is shown sitting on his throne watching. The end came when Raven pulled Reign out of the way of the Spear, this caused Rhino to go after Raven, sending Reign into Raven and then rolling him up for the pin. After the match, the two beat down on Rhino. Abyss made the save, as James Mitchell came out. Havoc followed with a cane shot, but was Black Hole Slammed. The numbers caught up with Abyss until the lights went out and Sting appeared to clean house. Kurt Angle then appeared on the TNAtron. He was at Sting's son's football game and was cheering him on. Jeez, I thought the expanded time slot would prevent crazy illogical messes like this from occuring.

Winner Via Pinfall - Rhino

Back from a commercial break with Sting still in the ring. Kurt Angle told Sting that if he had a son he wouldn't miss any of his football games. Sting told Angle that if he did anything to his son he would kill him. In the back, Jeremy Borash was with Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt, when Team 3D came in and beat on them. They dragged them out to the ring and continued to pound on them. Shark Boy came to the rescue, but was also beaten down. Team 3D demanded a title shot and then put Lethal through a table via the 3D. Way to build the X champ up. Back from another commercial break, with Sting and Angle continuing to go at it. Mike Tenay and Don West recapped Angle's actions, then hyped Bound For Glory and Leticia in Playboy. Crystal did an interview with Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks. Roode hired a PR firm and berated Brooks, telling her to win the Women's title, because losers weren't accepted by Roode Inc. Leticia came in on this promo and began arguing and shoving Crystal around. Ugh.

Match Two - Jackie Moore w/ James Storm vs. Gail Kim

Good match here. Lance Hoyt, Jimmy Rave and Christy Hemme came out to watch. The end came when Kim hit a reverse neckbreaker on Moore for the pin. Roxxi Laveaux came out after the match and beat on Kim. Hemme and Moore joined in, but Kim was able to escape as the other three argued.

Winner Via Pinfall - Gail Kim

In the back, Jeremy Borash was with Jim Cornette, who said that Team 3D's match with Team Pacman was going to be for the tag team championships, but also said that what goes around comes around. Sting came in yelling at Cornette who had no idea what he was yelling about. Back from a commercial break, with Kurt Angle telling Sting that he was messing with him. Jim Cornette tried to calm Sting down as Angle kept pushing at him.

Match Three - TNA Tag Team Championship Match - Team Pacman (Ron Killings and Pacman Jones) (C) vs. Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Team 3D pretty much mocked Pacman throughout. In the end, Pacman took a chair and was going to level Brother Ray, when VKM came out and beat on Ron Killings, causing the DQ. The Steiners then came out leading to another brawl. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

Winners Via DQ and STILL TNA Tag Team Champions - Team Pacman (Ron Killings and Pacman Jones)

Kurt Angle was still at the game and cheering on Sting's son. In the back, Jeremy Borash was with Raven who challenged Rhino and Abyss to a match at Bound for "Gory." Abyss came in and told Raven to make it a Monsters Ball match and throw Black Reign into the mix as well.

Match Four - Fight For The Right Preview Gauntlet Match - Robert Roode vs. Chris Harris vs. James Storm vs. Alex Shelley vs. Chris Sabin vs. Eric Young vs. Petey Williams vs. Kaz vs. Lance Hoyt vs. Jimmy Rave

Some cool stuff here with the X Division stars continuing to step up. The final two were Young and Storm. Storm locked a sleeper hold in on Young, who climbed the ropes and reversed it into a pin for the win. After the match, Eric Young celebrated throughout the Impact Zone.

Winner Via Pinfall - Eric Young

Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped the eight-man tag team main event. Next was a recap of what happened with the Christian Coalition earlier in the day. Christian Cage was upset that AJ Styles and Tomko were starting to bond a bit and told Styles that Tomko could go to Japan for his title match, but Styles had to stay with him. This segment was followed by a package that hyped the Ultimate X match between XXX and LAX at Bound for Glory. Kurt Angle was still at the football game and was telling a cheerleader how Sting slapped his wife. A package was then shown to recap the feud between Christian Cage and Samoa Joe.

Match Five - Eight Man Tag Team Match - Samoa Joe, Junior Fatu and LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) vs. Christian Cage, AJ Styles and XXX (Senshi and Christopher Daniels) w/ Elix Skipper

This was a good main event that broke down into an all out brawl and finisher-fest. After a series of reversals and finishers being hit, Samoa Joe connected with a Muscle Buster on Senshi for the win. Team Joe then celebrated.

Winners Via Pinfall - Samoa Joe, Junior Fatu and LAX (Homicide and Hernandez)

Kurt Angle was still at Sting's son's football game and told Sting that his son was as good as he was ten years ago. He said that he wanted the old Sting at Bound for Glory. He then went to approach Sting's son, but he ran away. Angle did catch up to him and told Sting that he could imagine the rest. The Impact Recap then played as Impact came to a close.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and would like to congratulate TNA on this huge accomplishment.
