Impact: X marks Samoa Joe's spot
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

Slammiversary is in the books and new champions have been crowned. Jim Cornette has promised a big announcement on Impact concerning the fate of those champions. What are his intentions? Are the champions in jeopardy of losing their gold? Read the report and find out.

"The Monster" Abyss was shown arriving at the Impact Zone. The Slammiversary PPV was recapped next. Pretty solid PPV, definitely gave TNA a much needed boost. Mike Tenay and Don West then did their typical hype job and recapped Slammiversary. They pitched it over to Jim Cornette who was inside the Impact Zone and prepared to make his big announcement. Cornette brought out all the champions in TNA, "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal, Team 3D and Kurt Angle. Cornette announced a match at Victory Road where the champions would all do battle in one match with all the titles on the line, pitting Kurt Angle and Jay Lethal against Team 3D. The rules being, the competitor who gets the pinfall or submission wins the title of the competitor they beat. In the case of Team 3D, if one of them are pinned or made to submit, both titles are given to the competitor who beat them and they are allowed to choose a partner to hold the gold with. Cornette goes on to say that before this match can take place, each champion has to defend their title in a match against two former champions. Kurt Angle stops Jim Cornette's proceedings and gloats about how great he is, Cornette cuts him off and says that he wants new blood on the scene and Angle will defend his title next week. However, on this edition of Impact, it would be Jay Lethal defending the X Division championship against Chris Sabin and Samoa Joe. Back from the commercial break, Jeremy Borash was pumping up the TNA Mobile Text deal, when Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt walked in. Dutt meditated while Lethal vowed to retain the X Division gold.

Match One - Eric Young and Rhino vs. James Storm and Robert Roode w/ Jackie Moore and Ms. Brooks

Roode jumpstarts the match by beating down on Young. Storm and Roode exchanged tags and continued to beat down on Young, until Rhino got the hot tag and cleaned house. Jackie Moore got involved, throwing Rhino off his game and leaving him prone to a superkick by Storm for the win. Afterwards, Storm poured beer on Rhino, which awoke "The War Machine," who got up, threw Eric Young out of the way and tore apart the ringside area.

Winners Via Pinfall - James Storm and Robert Roode

Back from another commercial break, with Mike Tenay explaining the Rhino hissy fit. Jim Cornette tried to stop Rhino, but to no avail. Jay Lethal's first title defense was hyped. The Jeff Jarrett package from Slammiversary was shown again. Mike Tenay was absolutely right when he said that it was an emotional package. Again, my prayers go out to the entire Jarrett family. Back from another commercial break and Leticia is with Samoa Joe. Joe says that he is going to recapture the X Division title and if Angle retains his title, then he is really a loser because he will have Joe to deal with. Joe finishes off by saying that until he does what he has to do, there will be no more interviews.

Match Two - Chris Harris vs. Raven

Raven went on the offensive right away, but Harris fought back. Havoc and Martyr came out, with Havoc getting involved. Kaz came out seperately and cleaned house on Havoc and Martyr, he interjected himself in the match and hit Raven with a clothesline, allowing Harris to come back and hit the Catatonic for the victory.

Winner Via Pinfall - Chris Harris

In the back, Christian Cage was with AJ Styles and Tomko. Cage sent them both away and began yelling at Chris Harris for costing him his shot at the TNA Title. He said that the two will meet and Harris won't like how the story ends. Abyss came in and scared Cage away. Abyss and Cage begin brawling out in the Impact Zone. Abyss grabbed the Barbed Wire Baseball Bat and went to hit Cage, but was stopped by Styles and Tomko. Abyss eventually fought them off and stood tall as Cage watched on. A James Mitchell promo was shown, hyping Mitchell's new monster.

Match Three - Triple Threat TNA X Division Championship Match - "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal (C) vs. Chris Sabin vs. "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe

Joe was very dominant here. Lethal and Sabin had an excellent match at Slammiversary, great job all around. Back from a commercial break, with Lethal fighting off Joe. After some back and forth action, Sabin blocked an elbow by Joe and went up top, only to be stopped by Joe and hit with a Muscle Buster that allowed Joe to get the pin and recapture the TNA X Division Championship.

Winner Via Pinfall and NEW TNA X Division Champion - "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe

Jim Cornette came out and congratulated Joe and announced that Kurt Angle would defend the TNA Championship on the next edition of Impact against Christian Cage and Rhino. The Impact Recap then played as Impact came to an end.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and is intrigued that Ron Killings and Konnan left TNA. Oh well.
