Impact: Finalizing the Slammiversary card
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

Slammiversary is shaping up to one incredible PPV, however, the King of the Mountain match is not complete. The last slot will be filled on this edition of Impact as "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage goes up against Jim Cornette's hand-picked opponent. Will "Captain Charisma" make it to the Main Event of Slammiversary, or will the demons of his past come back to haunt him? Read the report and find out.

The show started off with a recap of the last edition of Impact, followed by the Mike Tenay/Don West hype job. In the back, Jim Cornette was with Leticia when he said that he would be having a meeting with Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles. Christian Cage was still trying to find out who his opponent was going to be, guessing that it was Shark Boy. Cornette wouldn't say, but promised Christian Cage that it would be good.

Match One - Eight Man Tag Team Match - The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner), Damaja and Basham w/ Christy Hemme vs. VKM (BG and Kip James) and Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

It's too bad that Scott Steiner is out injured. A Steiners/Team 3D feud would be great. Lots of back and forth action here. The match eventually broke down, with VKM and Team 3D cleaning house, until Christy Hemme got involved and sprayed Kip James with hairspray, allowing Basham to roll him up and get the pin.

Winners Via Pinfall - Rick and Scott Steiner, Damaja and Basham

They showed some stuff from the Wycheck press conference. He will be teaming up with Jerry Lynn to go up against James Storm and Ron "The Truth" Killings. Back from a commercial break and Jim Cornette is with AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle who are all arguing with Cornette. Cornette tells Angle and Joe that they hold his show hostage, he tells Styles that he is nothing more than a sock puppet, and that is why he is putting them in a Six Man Tag against the guys they beat to get into the King of the Mountain match. He says that if any of them are pinned or made to submit by someone from they other team, they lose their King of the Mountain slot and they are replaced by the guy who beat them. He then tells them that he hopes they don't work together. A King of the Mountain hype package is shown. Back from another commercial break, with a package highlighting the LAX/Hector Guerrero/Rhino/Chris Harris saga. Jeremy Borash pumped the TNA Moblie and $500 prize before bringing in Chris Harris and Hector Guerrero. Harris laid down the gauntlet to LAX and said that he and Rhino were going to have Hector Guerrero in their corner. The King of the Mountain Last Chance Six Man Tag is up next, Tomko is announced, but doesn't come out. He is found laid out in the back. He is declared "unable to compete" and it turns into a handicap match.

Match Two - 2 vs. 3 Handicap Tag Team Last Chance at King of the Mountain Match - AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle vs. Sting and Rhino

As explained above, if Sting or Rhino were able to beat any of their opponents, they would take their place in the King of the Mountain match. Styles, Angle and Joe show little to no teamwork, refusing to tag for one another. In the end, Christopher Daniels comes out and offers to help Sting. Sting tags him in and gets hit with the Last Rites. Angle shoves Joe on for the cover and the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle

Back from the commercial break with a Papparazzi Production. Sonjay Dutt was meditating with Kevin Nash and "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal. Dutt told Lethal that he would help him win the X Division title. Christian Cage was shown making his way into the Impact Zone for his King of the Mountain qualifier.

Match Three - King of the Mountain Qualifying Match - Christian Cage vs. Abyss

This was really solid and a great way to top off Impact. Tons of reversals and near falls, with AJ Styles and Tomko coming out. Abyss went ballistic after Styles distracted Rudy Charles and threw a chair into the ring. He took Styles and launched him onto Tomko onto the floor. With Styles and Tomko down, Abyss took the chair and leveled Cage with it to get disqualified. Abyss then smacked Rudy Charles with the chair. Terry Taylor and Simon Diamond came down to stop Abyss, but were also destroyed. Abyss grabbed a bag filled with shattered glass and went to chokeslam Cage onto it, but Tomko and Styles stepped in and beat him down. Cage grabbed a barbed wire bat, but Abyss fought back and cleaned house.

Winner Via DQ - Christian Cage

The Impact Recap played as Impact came to an end.
