Impact: Harris & Storm miss the Mountain
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling
The road to Slammiversary is nearing its end, but there are still two more vacancies in the King of the Mountain match. One of those vacancies will be filled on Impact as "Wildcat" Chris Harris does battle with James Storm. Who will come out on top? Read the report and find out.
The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact and the traditional Mike Tenay/Don West hype job, leading to...
Match One - Robert Roode w/ Ms. Brooks vs. Jerry Lynn
This was a competitive back and forth match that saw Jerry Lynn take control towards the end with several near falls. Lynn was about to connect with the Cradle Piledriver when Ms. Brooks distracted ref Earl Hebner, allowing Roode to hit a low blow and the Payoff for the win. Afterwards, Roode continued his attack on Lynn until Eric Young made the save with a steel chair. He grabbed Ms. Brooks as Roode ran away. Lynn held Brooks and Young was about to bean her with the chair before Jim Cornette came out and said that Ms. Brooks would be facing Gail Kim later on Impact.
Winner Via Pinfall - Robert Roode
In the back, Leticia chased down Tomko who said that Christian changed his phone number and was avoiding him. Back from a commercial break, with a video package that highlighted the feud between Christopher Daniels and Sting. Mike Tenay did a pre-taped interview with the both of them where Daniels said that he was going to make everything right. Sting somehow doubted that. Leticia was shown interviewing Gail Kim, when Ms. Brooks ran in and attacked her. The two brawled in the back as security tried to break them up. Mike Tenay and Don West bantered a bit before pitching it to Papparazzi Productions. Jay Lethal and Kevin Nash talked about Jake Roberts as Sonjay Dutt walked in wearing all white. He said he was the "Good" Sonjay Dutt. They recapped the Slammiversary Press Conference. Jeremy Borash was in the back with AJ Styles, Kurt Angle walked in and congratulated Styles, but told him that he would defeat him. Styles said that he hasn't seen Christian Cage at all and was going to look for him. Cage, in disguise, grabs Styles and pulls him away. Cage is hilarious.
Match Two - Gail Kim vs. Ms. Brooks
Another back and forth contest. Lots of reversals towards the end, with Gail Kim scoring the win via a roll up. Afterwards, Robert Roode came down for a gang assualt that left Kim laid out.
Winner Via Pinfall - Gail Kim
Leticia was shown still following Tomko around. Tomko asked Jeremy Borash where he could find Christian Cage. Back from a commercial break with a hype package for the Steiners vs. Team 3D, which will eventually be scrapped due to Scott Steiner's throat injury. Tomko was shown in the back, as he barged into an office where Christian Cage was hiding in disguise. He grabbed Cage and held him against the wall and let out his frustration. Cage told Tomko that he brought him to TNA and he was trying to help him. He asked Tomko to help him find out who his opponent was in the King of the Mountain Qualifier. Tomko agreed to help and the two set off for Jim Cornette.
Match Three - King of the Mountain Qualifier - James Storm w/ Jackie Moore vs. "Wildcat" Chris Harris
This was an excellent main event. Both stars went full throttle and really delivered. The match started off in the ring, but ended up going throughout the Impact Zone. The two brawled up and down the aisles with Harris getting busted open. The end came when Storm threw a beer bottle at Harris that missed, allowing Harris to spear Storm through the bottom of the stage. David Penzer announced that they were being given a ten count to make it back to the ring or they would both lose their shot at the King of the Mountain match. Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe came out to watch as both James Storm and Chris Harris were counted out. Angle and Joe brawled, AJ Styles came out and went to attack Angle, but was locked in an Ankle Lock. Complete mayhem ensued as TNA tried to restore order.
Winner - Double Count Out
In Jim Cornette's office, Christian Cage and Tomko questioned Cornette as to who Cage's opponent was going to be. All Cornette told Cage was that it was someone he called a "punk." Cage was irate as the Impact Recap played and Impact came to an end.
Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and wishes Scott Steiner a speedy recovery.
