Impact: Styles sneaks by Tomko
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

King of the Mountain qualifying rolls on as "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles looks to make his entrance into the match by defeating the riley veteren, Jeff Jarrett. Will Styles be able to topple the original "King of the Moutain," or is Jeff Jarrett too much for "The Phenomenal One" to handle? Read the report and find out.

The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact. Mike Tenay and Don West then did their overly-excited opening as Jim Cornette stood in the center of the Impact Zone. Cornette said that Jeff Jarrett was supposed to face AJ Styles in the King of the Mountain Qualifier, but due to some very serious family matters, Jarrett could not be there. Christian Cage, Tomko and AJ Styles came out with Cage saying that if Styles couldn't make it Cornette would throw a party and advance Jeff Jarrett by forfeit. Cage demanded that Cornette advance Styles, but Cornette declined and said that since Cage was showing him the errors of his ways he was going to make Styles earn his advancement by facing Tomko in the Qualifier. Styles flipped out as Tomko smiled. Cage then complained to Cornette, begging to find out who his opponent was going to be, but Cornette brushed him off and told him to take care of his coalition.

In the back, Jeremy Borash said that stars were looking to jump to TNA and to find out who you would have to get the text service. What is this, the WCW Hotline? Christopher Daniels joined JB and told Sting that he would have to make his decision to either embrace fate or be consumed by it.

Elsewhere, Leticia was with Eric Young. Robert Roode came in and said that Young should have answered his calls. Roode pushed Young around, but was stopped by Cornette who said that the two would fight at Slammiversary and if Roode won he could do whatever he wanted to, but if Young won, he was free. Cornette then put in a vote of confidence on Young. Mr. Backlund walked in and demanded a match at Slammiversary with Alex Shelley, Cornette said that if he was cleared to go he would book the match. Awesome.

Rhino made his way to the ring. Christopher Daniels followed, but was attacked and beaten senseless by Sting who tossed him all over the Impact Zone. Without an opponent, Rhino made an extreme challenge that was answered by "The Notorious 187" Homicide. Before anything could get underway, Konnan grabbed the mic and said that Rhino got involved in their business and he was going to get taken out. Konnan then challenged Hector Guerrero who came to ringside ready to fight leading to...

Match One - "The War Machine" Rhino w/ Hector Guerrero vs. "The Notorious 187" Homicide w/ Hernandez and Konnan

Back from commercial break with Rhino beating the tar out of Homicide. Rhino had everything going his way until Hernandez got involved and gave Homicide a chance to fight back. Homicide jumped on Rhino, but was eventually countered on a DDT attempt and laid out with a Gore for the win. Afterwards, LAX attacked Rhino, Hector Guerrero and Chris Harris tried to make saves, but both were beaten down as LAX stood tall.

Winner Via Pinfall - "The War Machine" Rhino

In the back, Samoa Joe was with JB and said that Kurt Angle better pray that he doesn't get his hands on him. Team Cage was in their locker room. Christian Cage told AJ Styles and Tomko that they were brothers and that brothers fight and after the match they would be cool again. Tomko told Styles that he would take care of him and make sure it was quick and painless, slapping Styles on the chest and walking off. The whole Cage situation has been very well done.

Match Two - Chris Sabin vs. Kaz

This was a good match. Kaz is much better on his on as opposed to being a Raven lackey. He is very talented and Serotonin had promise, but at this point they have no hope. After some back and forth action Sabin hit the Hesistation Dropkick and the Cradle Shock for the win.

Winner Via Pinfall - Chris Sabin

BG James cut a promo saying that Basham and Damaja awoke a sleeping beast and he was gunning for them. Papparazzi Productions showed "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal and Kevin Nash making fun of Sonjay Dutt, who walked in and said that on the next edition of Impact he was going to re-introduce himself as the new Sonjay Dutt.

Match Three - King of the Mountain Qualifying Match - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. Tomko

Christian Cage came out to ringside with a chair to watch this all unfold. Tomko was dominant early on, sending Styles to the floor which sent Cage scurrying over to check on him. Back from the commercial break with Styles in control. Tomko came back though and hit the Big Boot. Tomko got a two count when he was distracted by Cage and his chair. This allowed Styles to roll Tomko up and get the win. Tomko flipped out on Cage at one end, while Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle made their way out arguing at the other end of the Impact Zone.

Winner Via Pinfall - AJ Styles

The Impact Recap played as Impact came to an end.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and finds The Christian Coalition hilarious.
