Impact: Daniels clips Samoa Joe vs. Sting
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

King of the Mountain is beginning to take shape, but there are still four qualifying matches that need to take place. On this edition of Impact we are treated to a big one, as Samoa Joe does battle with "The Icon" Sting. Will Sting claim his apot back in the title picture, or will Samoa Joe continue to elevate his game? Read the report and find out.

The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact. Mike Tenay and Don West then did their hype job and promoted the Samoa Joe vs. Sting main event. Team 3D hit the ring and called out The Steiner Brothers. Team 3D respected the Steiners who said that Team 3D's legacy was bogus. They even told 3D that their WCW Tag Title reign didn't even count. All the arguing led to a tag title match being scheduled between the two teams at Slammiversary. In the back, Leticia caught up with Christian Cage and Tomko. Cage said he was the best when it came to tag team wrestling. Tomko talked a little smack to Cage during the interview and mentioned that he might know who Cage's opponent is in the King of the Mountain Qualifier and that Cage should have given him a title shot when he promised him one. Back from the commercial break with highlights of Raven winning the 2005 King of the Mountain match. They then recapped the Christy Hemme/VKM feud and sent it to the back where Kip James told Lance Hoyt that BG James was still out, but he would return on the next edition of Impact. He told Lance Hoyt that he had been groomed and that he needed to step up. Hoyt told Kip that he wasn't afraid to hit Christy and that he wouldn't let him down.

Match One - Basham and Damaja w/ Christy Hemme vs. Kip James and Lance Hoyt

Back and forth match until Christy Hemme got involved. Hoyt grabbed her and brought her backstage, leaving Kip James alone to be double teamed and beaten by the Basham's. Afterwards, Hoyt returned to chase them off, but Kip had already been beaten down.

Winners Via Pinfall - Basham and Damaja

Jeremy Borash interviewed Samoa Joe in the back who said that Sting was in his way and he was going to take him out. Back from a commercial break with highlights of Ken Shamrock winning the NWA Heavyweight Championship. In the back, Robert Roode was with Ms. Brooks, talking about how he was going to make it into the King of the Mountain match. He also gave Eric Young till the next edition of Impact to answer his attorney's letter, before once again reminding him that it pays to be Roode.

Match Two - Christian Cage and Tomko vs. LAX (Homicide and Hernandez) w/ Konnan

Hector Guerrero watched on and argued with Konnan while Cage/Tomko and LAX exchanged the advantage. Things fell apart for LAX when Konnan and Hector started shoving. Homicide jumped out as Hernandez went for the Border Toss on Cage, only to catch a big boot/Frog Splash combo that gave Cage and Tomko the win. After the match, Hector Guerrero found himself in trouble with LAX until Chris Harris and Rhino ran out and made the save.

Winners Via Pinfall - Christian Cage and Tomko

Jeremy Borash was in the back with Kurt Angle who said that he hates Sting and Samoa Joe and admits that he will do whatever it takes to win. He says they do the same thing, but won't admit it. He mentions that he might see them out there. Back from commercial break with a recap of Samoa Joe's debut at Slammiversary 2005.

Match Three - King of the Mountain Qualifying Match - Samoa Joe vs. Sting

This was a pretty solid match that saw Joe take a heavy offensive attack to Sting. Christopher Daniels came out during the match and went to give Sting a bat, but Sting refused. The two went at it with Daniels clubbing Sting and leaving him prone to a Samoan Drop for the win. Daniels vs. Sting? Should be interesting.

Winner Via Pinfall - Samoa Joe

The next King of the Mountain Qualifier will be AJ Styles vs. Jeff Jarrett. The Impact Recap plays as Impact comes to an end.
