Raw: More Khali, no more Mr. Kennedy
By DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling

First Triple H, then Undertaker, now Kennedy, who's next? I'm not talking about WWE champions, but instead members of the injured list. Will everyone survive as RAW stops in State College, Pennsylvania? (Where I saw my first RAW in person, and also the where the brand split started.)

Coach announces ECW Champion Mr. McMahon to the ring. Vince says not only is he ECW Champion, but he is still the chairman of the board. Vince says he has never seen anything like what happened last week, when The Great Khali took out four superstars.

After the video recap, Vince says only one man can take on John Cena at Judgment Day. Shawn Michaels cuts him off. HBK says he was going to beat Cena last week, when Khali cut him down from behind. HBK tells Vince that he has never made him anything, or done Michaels any favors. HBK says he is ready to earn what he wants. Michaels wants Khali in the ring. Vince grants Shawn his wish in a "No DQ" match in a number one contender match.

Vince then lets his ego take over, and turns to the ECW belt. Bobby Lashley walks to the ring. Lashley demands Vince give him what he wants, but Lashley can't touch Vince or he'll lose the chance to regain the title.

After the footage from Backlash, Vince wants Lashley to call him champ. Vince then shows Lashley the cover of WWE magazine with all three champions, and then pastes Vince's head on Lashley's body. Vince taunts Lashley some more, before leaving the ring. Lashley goes after Coach, pulling him back into the ring. Coach is laid out with one shot, and Lashley tosses him from the ring. Lashley slams Coach into the ring steps, and then chokes him with a cable. Lashley follows with a spear to Coach, and Vince slinks to the back. (And the segment finally ends.)

Mickie helps Candice into her outfit before their match.

Match #1 -- Mickie James and Candice Michelle vs. Melina and Victoria

Mickie hits a neck breaker on Melina and then knocks Victoria off the apron. Candice makes a blind tag in, and hits Melina with a spinning heel kick. Candice covers for the three count.

Winner via pinfall: Mickie James and Candice Michelle

Match #2 -- Santino Marella vs. Chris Masters -- Intercontinental Title Match

Masters and Marella lock up, and Masters sends him to the floor with a shoulder block. Masters scoop slams Marella, but Santino rolls away from an elbow drop. Santino hits a reverse elbow. Masters blocks an Irish whip, and counters with a clothesline. Marella is set on the apron, and Masters drops an elbow on his throat. Masters misses a knee drop, and Marella works over the thigh. Marella hits a low drop kick, and then a neck breaker. Masters misses a spear and hits the ring post. Marella rolls up the Masterpiece and gets the win.

Winner via pinfall: Santino Marella

Ken Kennedy comes out to remind us that it is 328 days until he cashes in the Money in the Bank at Wrestlemania 24.

Maria is with Randy Orton. Maria wants his thoughts on his match with Cena. Orton says he will show everyone why he was the most hyped third generation star. Orton says his career, title hopes, and life will get back on track tonight.

Match #3 -- The Highlanders vs. Umaga -- 2 on 1 Handicapped Match

It's good to see the Highlanders on TV, but it's not good to watch them get buried. Umaga wins after splashing Robbie and Rory together.

Winner via pinfall: Umaga

Another Condemned promo, how is that movie doing? Racking up some box office records? Beating Spiderman 3? It was twelfth last week, nevermind.

Edge confronts Kennedy backstage. He is sick of Kennedy and wants Mr. Money in the Bank, and goads Kennedy into defending his MITB.

Match #4 -- Shawn Michaels vs. The Great Khali- No-DQ, Number One Contender's Match

(I don't want to do this. I know how this is going to turn out. First the Rangers lose, and now Khali is going to get a title shot. Next thing you know the Yankees will re-sign Roger Clemens. What? That happened? I feel sick.)

HBK gets Khali tied up in the ropes, but the giant escapes, kicking HBK right in the face. Khali slams HBK to the mat, but misses the leg drop. Shawn rolls to the outside and grabs a chair. HBK plasters Khali with a chair shot, and then hit a flying forearm. Michaels climbs the top rope, and drives an elbow into Khali. HBK sets up Sweet Chin Music, but Khali catches him. HBK is choked in the corner, and then clotheslined to the mat. Khali picks up HBK by the throat, but Michaels rakes the eyes to break free. Shawn slaps on a front facelock, and pulls him over the top rope. Khali throws HBK back in the ring, but a baseball slide sends Khali into the announce table. HBK strips down the announce table, but can't hit a DDT. Khali tosses HBK across the floor, and then chokeslams him through the announce table. The ref calls for the bell.

Winner: The Great Khali

Todd Grisham is with John Cena, and wants his thoughts on facing The Great Khali. Cena says he won't back down from Orton or Khali. He tells them to come get some.

Cryme Tyme is still with WWE! And they are offering up some Mother's Day gift suggestions; which, of course, means stealing stuff from random superstars. When Ron Simmons discovers his Hummer is missing he only has one thing to say, "Damn!" And then "Fat Spidey" shows up. Shad introduces himself as "Batman", and hits "Tubby Maguire" in the gut, and then steals his wallet.

Match #5 -- The Hardys vs. The World's Greatest Tag Team

Cade and Murdoch are once again at the announce position. Benjamin and Matt square off. Matt slams Shelton to the floor, and climbs the middle turnbuckle. With the ref distracted, Haas pulls Matt off the ropes. Haas tags in and hits a suplex. Benji tags back in, but Matt hits a reverse neck breaker. Jeff and Haas get tags, and Jeff slams Shelton into Haas. Jeff hits the Whisper in the Wind, and Matt hits Benji with a Twist of Fate. Haas headbutts Jeff on the turnbuckle, but Matt makes a blind tag. Haas is pulled off the turnbuckle, and Jeff hits him with a Swanton bomb. Matt covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: The Hardys

After the match, Cade and Murdoch try to congratulate the winners. The Hardys shake hands with Cade and Murdoch, and that's it. Cade and Murdoch thank the Hardys and then walk to the back.

The Carlito-Ric Flair story is recapped. We then see Carlito walking through the back, with Torrie in tow.

Carlito heads to the ring to explain himself. Carlito says Flair embarrassed him in front of his girl by saying he had no passion. Carlito says he doesn't need to learn or grow. In fact, Flair embarrassed him by losing every tag team match they were in. Carlito blames Flair for coasting him a spot in the Money in the Bank. Carlito calls out Flair, even though Flair is in Vegas. Carlito says he is dumping dead weight. First Flair, and then he turns on Torrie. He yells at her in Spanish, and Torrie pushes him away and storms to the back. Carlito continues his tirade in Spanish. (Yay! Heel Carlito is back!)

Match #6 -- Edge vs. Ken Kennedy -- Money in the Bank contract Match

Edge assaults Kennedy as he comes down the ramp, and tosses him into the security barrier, and then the ring post. Edge smashes a monitor into Kennedy's face, and then tosses him into the ring. The ref tries to back up Edge, and checks on Kennedy. The ref asks Kennedy is he wants to continue, and Ken wants the bell rung. The bell rings, and Kennedy is speared. Edge covers for the win.

Winner via pinfall: Edge

After the match, Edge continues the assault with the briefcase.

Match #7 -- Randy Orton vs. John Cena

Orton and Cena size each other up, and the champ takes down Orton. Cena hits a fisherman's suplex. Orton dodges a charge, and the champ catches the ring post in the shoulder. Orton drops a knee, and gets a near fall. Orton locks in a reverse chin lock. The champ fights out, and then hits a shoulder block. Cena follows with a side slam, and then the five-knuckle shuffle. The Great Khali shows up at ringside, and takes the title belt. Khali walks off with it. Cena is able to catch Orton with a drop toe hold, and locks in the STFU. Orton gets to the ropes. Cena breaks the hold and goes after Khali. Khali lays out Cena with one shot on the ramp, and walks to the back as the show ends.
