Impact: Nothing can stop Angle
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

After having a verbal battle on the last edition of Impact, it was decided that Sting would put up his number one contendership against Kurt Angle. While these two do battle, Team 3D will once again defend their tag gold, this time against the makeshift team of Scott Steiner and Tomko. Did Impact deliver or fall short? Read on and find out!

The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact as well as some hype from Mike Tenay and Don West.

Match One - Number One Contender's Match - Kurt Angle vs. Sting

These two went back and forth, but this ultimately boiled down to a no contest when Team Cage hit the ring and beat down both stars. Sting was tossed away, while Christian Cage zero'ed in on the neck of Kurt Angle, planting him with the Implant DDT on a steel chair. Sting jumped back in the ring with a chair of his own and cleaned house as Angle laid motionless.

Winner - No Contest

Back from the commercial break, Angle was shown being stretchered away, with Tenay explaining that Angle's neck was severely re-injured in the attack. Tenay said that West was called to the back for a phone call from Jim Cornette, while Jeremy Borash stood by with Team Cage. Cage and company celebrated until West ran in and said that later on, Cage would defend the title against Sting and if anyone from Team Cage interfered, he would be DQ'ed and the title would go to Sting. Team Cage complained and chased West away.

Match Two - Winning Team Gets A Shot At The X Division Championship At Sacrifice - Jerry Lynn and Petey Williams vs. Senshi and Shark Boy vs. Alex Shelley and Kaz vs. "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt

Chris Sabin came out and sat ringside to watch the match. After some back and forth action and an attempt from Shelley to pin Kaz and steal the match, things broke down. Lethal dove out to the floor. Dutt hit a sliced bread on Kaz, with Lethal hitting the elbow drop and picking up the win. Kevin Nash came out to congratulate them, but Dutt wanted no part of it.

Winners Via Pinfall - "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt

In the back, Jeremy Borash said that the doctors are still looking at Angle, but he looks pretty bad. Sting walks in and tells Borash that he is going to take out Cage.

Back from another commercial break, and they recap the Eric Young/Robert Roode/Ms. Brooks issue. Roode demanded that Young tell him who his friend was, but Young refused. Roode slapped Young several times until Young fought back, knocking down Roode and powerbombing Brooks. After beating down Roode some more, Brooks came from behind and hit a low blow. Roode whacked Young with a chair, busting him open. They handcuffed Young and told him to tell them who his friend was. They counted to three and went to whack him with the chair again, but Jeff Jarrett came out and cleaned house, disposing of Roode, laying out Brooks with his guitar and showing that he was Young's friend all along.

After another commercial break, LAX was with Tenay and West as they recapped what just happened with Jarrett and Young. In the back, Borash told Tomko and Scott Steiner that this was their chance to step out of Chritian Cage's shadow. Steiner didn't like that and told Borash to shut up. He told Tomko to sit back and watch him do the work. He said him and his brother Rick Steiner were a great tag team and that he would show Tomko how it was done. Steiner, in his fit of rage told Tomko to make sure he "dotted his t's and crossed his i's," to which Tomko said, "what an idiot."

Match Three - NWA Tag Team Championship Match - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) (C) vs. Scott Steiner and Tomko

Konnan provided commentary alongside Tenay and West. Homicide and Hernandez stood guard. Team 3D fended off the challenge pretty well. Konnan complained about not getting a rematch. LAX interfered, going after Tomko and Steiner and allowing Team 3D to hit the 3D for the win. Afterwards, LAX did battle with Tomko and Steiner, with Tomko and Steiner getting the better of them.

Winners Via Pinfall and STILL NWA Tag Team Champions - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon)

Back from a commercial, with Alex Shelley showing his latest production, A Walk with Bob Backlund. Shelley asked Backlund if it was true that Kevin Nash beat him in eight seconds, Backlund said it was and Shelley said that he could probably do the same thing. Backlund found some loose change and the X Division title in a patch of bushes, as Chris Sabin dove from a tree and started grappling with Backlund as Shelley kept score. O...kay.

Angle was still being worked on in the back, as Christian Cage told Jeremy Borash that he was mad that he had to defend the title against Sting. He said he didn't need Team Cage and he would win on his own.

Match Four - NWA Heavyweight Championship - Christian Cage (C) vs. Sting

Sting jumpstarted this match by attacking Cage on the ramp. Sting had the match in firm control for the most part, until a superplex took both combatants down. At this point, Angle, who was said to have a concussion, came down, ripped off his neck brace, threw ref Rudy Charles down and attacked Cage, causing for the DQ. Angle took Sting's bat, but Sting grabbed it back and hit Angle.

Winner Via DQ and STILL NWA Heavyweight Champion - Christian Cage

The Impact recap played as Impact came to an end.
