Impact: Sting suffers as Abyss mothered
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

There is no denying that TNA has been producing some PPV quality main event matches on Impact. Well this episode is no different, as Sting and Abyss join forces to take on "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage. All that and more on tap for this edition of Impact!

The show began with a recap of last week's edition of Impact.

In the back, Jeremy Borash caught up with Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle and Rhino who said that they will be joining together to take out Team Cage. That is going to be a solid main event at Lockdown.

Mike Tenay and Don West give a rundown of what's on tap, leading to...

Match One - Kurt Angle, "The War Machine" Rhino and "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe vs. Serotonin (Kaz, Martyr and Havok)

Gore! Olympic Slam! Muscle Buster! It's over!

Winners Via Pinfall - Kurt Angle, "The War Machine" Rhino and "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe

Leticia was in the back with AJ Styles and Christian Cage who seemed a bit worried about what Team Angle did to Serotonin. Styles asked where Tomko and Abyss were and said that the only reason he got involved in this match in the first place is because Cage promised him a title shot. Cage threatened to take it away. Cage then told Styles that by the end of the show things would be even, or at least he thought so.

Raven tortured Serotonin, claiming that torture was their friend. Mike Tenay and Don West then hyped Lockdown.

Jeremy Borash interviewed Sting and Abyss. Sting said that Abyss no longer needed his cage and that he was going to guide him all the way. Sting warned Cage and Styles that they would be receiving their last rites.

Team 3D came out with some luggage. They called out Homicide and Hernandez, running down LAX, and saying that at Lockdown they will put their legacy on the line against the NWA Tag Team Championships. They pulled out WWF, WCW and ECW Tag Titles and offered them up. Konnan came out with Machete and said that they don't care about those belts, they aren't going to pretend to be champions from another company. They said that at Lockdown they want an Electrified Steel Cage match and that until they beat LAX, they can't claim a legacy.

In the back Jim Cornette was moping around. Back from commercial break, Bob Backlund was in Cornette's office and asked to compete in a match at Lockdown. He provided a urine sample and said he has never eaten marijuana. Cornette told him that he could referee the Austin Starr/Senshi match, but couldn't get involved in Starr's match on Impact. Cornette then found chunks in the urine. Ugh.

In the entrance way, Robert Roode was shown talking to Austin Starr.

Match Two - Eric Young vs. The Austin Starr

Some back and forth action. Young had things going his way after Starr missed an elbow drop, connecting with an elbow drop of his own. Roode came down and went to celebrate with Young, but instead he attacked him, allowing Starr to hit a boot and the Starr Buster for the win. Afterwards, Roode and Ms. Brooks yelled at Young until Petey Williams came down for the save, knocking both Roode and Brooks down. He went to shake hands with Young, but Roode and Brooks pulled Young out and took off.

Winner Via Pinfall - The Austin Starr

Jeremy Borash was in the back with Jerry Lynn who was putting over his upcoming match with James Storm when he was attacked from behind with a chair and choked out by "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels.

Chris Harris was in the back with Jim Cornette requesting a match at Lockdown, but Cornette said that unless he got a doctor's note he couldn't do anything. Cornette said he was trying his best and said that as soon as he got a note he would schedule a match. Harris told Cornette that his best wasn't good enough. James Storm was shown making his way to the ring for...

Match Three - "The Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm w/ "The Pride of Tennessee" Jackie Moore vs. Jerry Lynn

This was declared a forfeit as Jerry Lynn was too beaten up to compete. Afterwards, Storm said that he liked to fight and drink beer and since he didn't have any beer, he wanted to fight. Chris Harris came down with Gail Kim attempting to stop him. Gail and Jackie wound up brawling, while Storm escaped from Harris, who was only able to rip his jacket off. Referees piled out to separate Jackie and Gail as we went to a commercial break.

Winner Via Forefit - "The Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm

Back in Cornette's office, Gail Kim requested a match at Lockdown when Jackie Moore came in and attacked. The two brawled using a tennis racket and whatever else they could pull from Cornette's office until security came in and broke them up.

The Sting/Abyss feud was recapped leading to...

Match Four - Sting and "The Monster" Abyss vs. "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

Cage and Styles jumpstarted the match, attacking Sting and Abyss. Sting and Abyss were able to fight back, putting Styles and Cage on the defensive. Abyss called for the Doomsday on Styles, but Cage made the save. Sting and Abyss had things going their way until Father James Mitchell came out with Abyss' mother. Ugh. Abyss then retreated backstage as Sting was double teamed. Sting fought back until Scott Steiner hit the ring and used a lead pipe on him, allowing Styles to make the cover and get the win. Afterwards, Steiner, Cage and Styles celebrated as the Impact Recap played and Impact came to an end.

Winners Via Pinfall - "The Instant Classic" Christian Cage and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles
