Impact: Lockdown captains assemble their teams
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

Destination X is in the books and Lockdown is already being pushed. On this edition of Impact, Christian Cage and Kurt Angle begin their search for allies as they prepare to do battle in a Lethal Lockdown match. On top of that, LAX and Alex Shelley team up to do battle with Team 3D in an explosive main event. All this and more on another rock-solid edition of Impact!

The show began with a recap of Destination X. For the SLAM! Wrestling version, click here.

Jim Cornette was inside the six sides of steel to officially begin the show. He announced that at Lockdown there would be a Lethal Lockdown match. He announced the two team captains -- Christian Cage and Kurt Angle. Cage whined about the decision, but Cornette told him to suck it up and focus on finding four teammates for Lockdown.

Mike Tenay and Don West discussed a few topics, but were interrupted by "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles who called out "The War Machine" Rhino, distraught saying that he wouldn't be able to provide food for his family because of the beating he receieved from Rhino. Rhino came out and asked the Impact Zone if they wanted his feud with Styles to end. They said "no," but Rhino submitted and said it was over. He shook hands with Styles and went to walk away, but was whacked from behind with a crutch shot and a low blow. Christian Cage entered in to join in the beating, but Kurt Angle and Samoa Joe ran down and made the save as Styles and Cage ran away.

In the back, Jeremy Borash was with LAX, Alex Shelley and Konnan who said that they were going to destroy the legacy of Team 3D.

Kevin Nash and Sonjay Dutt were in the Impact Zone trying to encourage Jay Lethal to come out like Randy Savage. We were sent to the back where Jeremy Borash was with Chris Sabin and Mr. Backlund. Backlund was doing aerobics while Sabin was playing video games. Sabin bragged about being a superb X star. Mr. Backlund walked in as they were discussing how weird he was and told Borash that he was starting to piss him off. Sabin agreed and we shot back to Nash and Dutt who introduced Jay Lethal to a Randy Savage remix leading to...

Match One - Three Way Dance - Jay Lethal w/ Sonjay Dutt and Kevin Nash vs. Kaz vs. Jerry Lynn

This was a pretty good match that saw all three stars really display some skills. Kaz hit a nice northern lights, bridge pin combination for a nearfall on both Lethal and Lynn, however, it was Lethal's backbreaker/STO combo on Kaz that picked up the win. Afterwards, "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels hit the ring and took out all three X stars with a lead pipe.

Winner Via Pinfall - Jay Lethal

In the back again, Jeremy Borash caught up with Christian Cage and AJ Styles. Cage introduced Styles as the first addition to Team Cage at Lockdown. Styles let the cat out of the bag on Cage saying that the only reason he joined was because Cage promised him a title shot. Cage played him off and said that later on they were going to debut the third member of Team Cage.

Match Two - Six Man Tag Team Match - Team 3D (Brother Ray, Brother Devon and Brother Runt) w/ Johnny Rodz vs. LAX ("The Notorious 187" Homicide and Hernandez) and Alex Shelley w/ Konnan and Machete

Good main event with a ton of action. Konnan joined Mike Tenay and Don West on commentary for this one. This turned out to be an all out brawl. Johnny Rodz even got involved as Hernandez tossed Brother Runt out of the ring onto him. Rodz brushed himself off and went at it with Machete as Team 3D put Alex Shelley through a table. Rudy Charles was distracted for this, but turned around in time to catch Hernandez pinning Brother Devon for the win. Afterwards Konnan grabbed the mic and said that they've beaten Team 3D a bunch of times, all they have left to do is take their legacy.

Winners Via Pinfall - LAX ("The Notorious 187" Homicide and Hernandez) and Alex Shelley

In a dark area, Raven had Kaz tied up, but Martyr wouldn't cane him, so Raven slapped him several times and told him to leave. He then told Havoc to cane him, but Havoc didn't do it either. Raven said that they needed to learn from him, they needed to be like an abusive parent in order to learn and that he was going to teach them whether they liked it or not.

Jeremy Borash ran into the bathroom and found Eric Young scrubbing toilets. Borash told Young to call his friend to get him out of the contract, but Robert Roode ran in and told Borash to take a hike and asked Young if Borash was his friend. He then told Young that things were only going to get worse for him.

Back in the Impact Zone, Christian Cage and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles announced that their third partner would be "The Monster" Abyss. Abyss came out, but didn't join Cage and Styles. Sting followed Abyss out and said that Abyss didn't want to join them. Cage tried to persuade Abyss, but Jim Cornette came out and said that on the next edition of Impact it would be Abyss and Sting vs. Christian Cage and AJ Styles. Sting asked Cornette if they really had to wait and then jumped the ring with Abyss and cleaned house.

The Impact Recap played, closing another edition of Impact.<
