ECW: More McMahon, more Snitsky
By MATT MACKINDER - SLAM! Wrestling

Another episode of Tuesday Night McMahon is on tap. It could also be called Tuesday Night Lashley, but the cable guide says ECW. Strange.

Tonight's show from Trenton, N.J., starts with a "In Memory of Ernie Ladd" image. Nice touch.

Edge gets confronted by Randy Orton in the back and Orton is peeved about Edge volunteering him to face ECW champion Bobby Lashley tonight. Edge says he has Orton's back and that Orton can trust him.

Match # 1 -- 8-Man Battle Royal -- The ECW Originals (Sabu, Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer & The Sandman) vs. The New Breed (Matt Striker, Kevin Thorn, Elijah Burke & Marcus Cor Von)

Basically, the winner has bragging rights leading into WrestleMania. Sandman gets tossed over by Striker in the first minute and then Cor Von jumps over the top after Sabu and RVD botch a double-team maneuver. Sabu then gets hurled over by Thorn, who gets taken out by an RVD cross bodyblock. RVD hangs onto the top rope, but Striker kicks his arm and hand and Van Dam is out. Striker goes for a running charge in the corner, but Dreamer ducks and back drops him over the top. Down to Burke and Dreamer, Dreamer blocks a Burke kick, nails a groin kick and flips Burke over as the other three Originals come in the ring to pose and celebrate.

Winner: Tommy Dreamer

Mick Foley's music hits and as he makes his way to the ring, we go to a commercial break. Back in the ring, Foley says he's not there for a cheap pop or to plug his book. But he does both anyway. Foley rambles on about attacking Dreamer with a barbed wire baseball bat months back. Why? I don't know. This whole time, Sandman is favoring his left arm. Foley says he'll be in Detroit on April 1 and he'll be chanting "E-C-W" with the rest of the fans, but the fans in Trenton give this little reaction.

A Snitsky video package is next. Yawn.

The gals from Extreme Exposé dance to Rich Boy's Boy Looka Here until Snitsky's music comes on and he runs to the ring. The ladies exit, but two jobbers appear.

Match # 2 -- Handicap Match -- Snitsky vs. Danny Jacks & Michael Deke

Squash City. Snitsky pins Deke after a big boot.

Winner via pinfall: Snitsky

Snitsky, with what appears to be a gash on the top of his head, kicks Jacks on the outside and heads to the back. The crowd couldn't care less.

Burke finds CM Punk in the back and gives him a New Breed T-shirt to entice him to join the New Breed. Punk doesn't look too enthused.

We then get a package of national media coverage of the "Battle of the Billionaires" match for WrestleMania. Celebrities interviewed all say Trump will lose. That's probably none of them know who Vince McMahon is. I never thought I'd see the day when Jason Alexander was on a WWE show. Last night's Raw conclusion is then recapped. Nothing we haven't seen before.

Match # 3 -- ECW champion Bobby Lashley vs. Randy Orton w/ Edge

Early on, Orton escapes to the floor to argue with Edge as we head to a commercial. Back from break, it's back and forth action. Lashley blocks an RKO attempt and Edge grabs the ECW belt and tries to attack Lashley in front of referee Scott Armstrong. Edge gets tossed from ringside, but leaves with a smirk on his face. Another commercial break.

Lashley reaches the ropes to break a Boston Crab and then goes on the offensive. The champ gets two spears in on Orton in the corner, then a back drop and the sit-out back breaker. Lashley scoops up Orton for the power slam, now called the Dominator, and Orton does the job. In the process, WWE is making Lashley look unstoppable.

Winner via pinfall: Bobby Lashley

McMahon comes out and he and Lashley engage in a staredown as the show thankfully ends.

Matt Mackinder will be at WrestleMania 23, but won't be chanting "E-C-W." Email Matt at mackindermedia@yahoo.com.
