Impact: Tomko upsets Samoa Joe
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

With a list of impressive TNA victories under his belt, Samoa Joe is set to receive his first NWA World title match at Destination X. But before he gets that shot he has to face the champ's buddy, Tomko. Will Joe rise to the occasion or be taken out before he gets the opportunity at Christian Cage's belt? Read the report to find out.

In the back, Jeremy Borash tried to interview Tomko, but was interrupted by Christian Cage. Cage told Tomko to take Samoa Joe out. Tomko said that there wasn't anything in it for him, but Cage said that if he successfully completed that task he would give him a title shot. Cage walked off as Tomko told Borash how selfish he was. Trouble on the horizon for Cage?

After the intro, clips were shown of Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner going at it before the show. Mike Tenay and Don West pitched it to Jim Cornette's office where Cornette told Angle that he better not screw up his show after all the favors he did for him. Angle said that he would do what he needed to do.

Match One - Senshi, Jerry Lynn and Jay Lethal vs. Austin Starr, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin

Kevin Nash and Sonjay Dutt were at ringside for this one. Prior to the match, Alex Shelley gave Tenay and West a DVD of his lastest work. Mr. Backlund also came out to provide commentary. Tons of back and forth action here, great way to open up Impact. Starr attempted to cheat, but Mr. Backlund intervened, shoving him into Lethal who rolled him up for the win. Afterwards, Backlund chased Starr away and offered a handshake to Senshi, but Senshi instead bowed.

Winners Via Pinfall - Senshi, Jerry Lynn and Jay Lethal

We saw a package of Eric Young doing chores for Robert Roode and Ms. Brooks. This is really coming off great. Young is shown carrying bags, vacuuming and being reminded that Robert Roode has total control over him.

A Sting package was shown with Sting lying in a casket in the middle of the Impact Zone and saying that Abyss would have to choose his path, because Sting was going to kill him. In the back, Jeremy Borash was shown trying to find Abyss; he found him as he was looking at a picture of James Mitchell, and he then began beating on a staff member.

Match Two - Scott Steiner vs. Chase Stevens

Before things got underway, Kurt Angle attacked Steiner from behind. But was pulled away. Steiner squashed Stevens and Angle re-emerged. It took security, staff and the X Division to break them up. Steiner told Angle that his wife wanted him and things got personal. Cornette came out and told Angle that his show didn't revolve around him. Angle broke away and tried putting Cornette in the ankle lock, and was subsequently ejected from the Impact Zone.

Winner Via Pinfall - Scott Steiner

Angle was shown being ejected from the Impact Zone by Don Harris.

Leticia did an interview with "Wildcat" Chris Harris who said that he wanted to be cleared to compete, but told Storm that he was going to get him back.

Alex Shelley came out and played his latest project, which saw LAX go to Brooklyn, NY and attack Brother Devon's mentor Johnny Rodz. LAX destroyed Rodz and left him laid out. Brother Ray came out and ran down Shelley asking what his problem was. Kevin Nash came out, but Ray told him that it wasn't about him, it was between he and Shelley. From behind LAX attacked. Ray fought them off, but was lowblowed by Shelley. Konnan and Machete came out and Konnan told LAX to ge tthe tables, which led to Hernandez putting Ray through a table.

Rambuck Killings has stopped fiming due to an injury suffered by Ron "The Truth" Killings. O...kay.

In the back, Jeremy Borash interviewed Samoa Joe. Joe said that Tomko was going to pay for the sins he committed. While this was going on, Abyss beat on another staff member as Joe rushed over and threw Abyss into a wall. He told Abyss that he needs to do the right thing.

Match Three - Samoa Joe vs. Tomko

Christian was shown in the back smirking. More good back and forth action, with Tomko landing some good shots in on Joe. This one broke down when the ref was distracted and Christian came in from behind and landed a chairshot on Joe, allowing Tomko to hit a devastating clothesline on Joe for the win. Afterwards, Joe stole the NWA Heavyweight belt and smacked Tomko with it. He applied the Rear Naked Choke on Cage, but Steiner made the save. Abyss came out and cleaned house. As Joe got up, Abyss hit him with the Black Hole Slam as Tenay and West shrieked in disbelief.

Winner Via Pinfall - Tomko

The Impact Recap played as Impact came to an end.
