WSX: Tables, Ladders & Cerveza
By MATT MACKINDER - SLAM! Wrestling

Due to my rapidly dwindling interest in ECW on Tuesday nights, I set the DVR to tape Wrestling Society X and catch the MTV show later on. With WSX's usual writer Amy Lawson quite literally in the dark, I'm pinch-hitting this week.

Week 3 of WSX kicks off with the band Sparta performing at The Bunker. Two of the band members join Bret Ernst and Kris Kloss at the broadcast position. Vampiro being crowned the first WSX champion by virtue of his win over 6-Pac last week is recapped and concludes with the champ cutting a promo saying the title is his life and his destiny. Great stuff here.

Match # 1 -- The Trailer Park Boyz ("Spider" Nate Webb & Josh "Jug" Raymond) w/ "White Trash" Johnny Webb vs. The Filth & The Fury (Teddy Hart & "MDogg" Matt Cross)

A fantastic match. One of the Sparta guys says he was always a Bret Hart fan and also grew up watching The Ultimate Warrior and Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Sir, you'll be receiving your letter from the WWE's legal counsel first thing in the morning. He also says he's from Texas and remembers the Von Erich family. Strike two, my friend.

Hart hits his cradle DDT on Raymond and then lands a beautiful springboard moonsault to the floor on all three Boyz. Back in the ring, Hart nails Webb with a Flipping Tiger Driver (Canadian Destroyer for you TNA folks), but Raymond grabs Hart and drops him with a double underhook shoulder backbreaker. On the floor, Hart gets a stray electrical cord and electrocutes Webb. He then places Webb on a table, pours water on him and hits a corkscrew splash from a balcony. In the ring, Cross gets the pin on Raymond after a shooting star leg drop.

Winners via pinfall: The Filth & The Fury

After the show went off the air last week, we see a confrontation between Los Pochos Guapos, Aaron Aguilera and Joey Munoz, where Munoz blames Aguilera for his injuries at the hands of Luke Hawx. Aguilera says they'll get even tonight in a TLC Match -- tables, ladders and cerveza. Nice touch.

Match # 2 -- "The Prince of Parkland" Jack Evans vs. El Hombre Enmascarado

The masked El Hombre is billed as being from "just north of the border." Yeah, definitely not Mexican, but a unique gimmick. A quick-paced match sees Evans nearly get a fall with a cradle fisherman suplex. Evans wins it with a 630 Splash off the top.

Winner via pinfall: Jack Evans

A sweet video package shows another masked wrestler, Matt Classic. Apparently, this guy lapsed into a coma 40 years ago, and when he woke up, he kept his old school wrestling trunks and wardrobe. I like it.

Match # 3 -- TLC Match -- Aaron "Jesus" Aguilera & Joey "Kaos" Munoz vs. Alkatrazz & Luke Hawx

Aguilera and Munoz don't appear on the same page at times, but do get a double ladder shot in early on the floor that really gets the crowd going. In fact, the crowd has been hot all night. Munoz goes to the top for a moonsault on Hawx, but Aguiulera tells him to do it from the top of the ladder. As Aguilera flirts with a cute chick at ringside, Munoz misses the moonsault. Alkatrazz then walks the top rope attempting a tornado DDT on Aguilera, who blocks it and suplexes Alkatrazz into the ladder against the turnbuckles. Munoz recovers and lands a modified crucifix-like pilrdriver, the Gonzo Bomb, on Hawx. Aguilera brings the six-pack of generic beer into the ring, but Munoz ends up getting a facebuster on the bottles and he's busted open. Alkatrazz then power bombs Munoz through a table in the ring and gets the easy three count.

Winners via pinfall: Alkatrazz & Luke Hawx

The heels celebrate in the ring as the show comes to a close.

I'm hooked. WSX may not be mainstream, but it has more entertainment value than Vince's company in my opinion.
