Impact: Steiner revealed as Cage's consultant
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

With just one Impact to go before Against All Odds, TNA has added a red hot main event to this edition of Impact, as AJ Styles and Christian Cage take on the team of Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. Also on Impact, Abyss confronts Sting, LAX confronts Team 3D and much more as we head into what should be another solid PPV from TNA.

The show began with a recap of what happened on the last edition of Impact between Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. Abyss and Father James Mitchell made their way into the Imapact Zone to jump start...

Match One - "The Monster" Abyss w/ Father James Mitchell vs. Chase Stevens

Squash! Afterwards, Andy Douglas came down and got the Shock Treatment. Shane Douglas came down to yell at them as Sting appeared on the TNA Tron and told Abyss that at Against All Odds he was going to finish off James Mitchell once and for all.

Winner Via Pinfall - "The Monster" Abyss

The poll results are in and 34 percent voted that the special consultant was not Brock Lesnar, Samoa Joe or Goldberg. That 34 percent would be correct. In the back, Leticia who apparently has earned the privilege to actually speak in a promo was with Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle who said that they would watch out for each other and make sure that the title was taken away from Christian Cage. Angle challenged Cage to bring his consultant with him so he could get a piece of him as well.

Backstage, Tomko was shown slamming a lead pipe around. Christian Cage came over and calmed him down, saying that he would give him the night off.

They recapped the feud between LAX and Team 3D as Team 3D stood inside the Impact Zone ready for war. Brother Ray said that they weren't worried about the titles anymore, they wanted revenge. They challenged LAX to a Little Italy Street Fight. Moody Jack Melendez and Konnan came out and said that LAX accepted. Brother Runt tried to intervene, but was told to hit the bricks by Brother Ray. As Runt was leaving LAX jumped Team 3D and laid them out. More good stuff from this feud.

Leticia stood in the back with Christy Hemme who said that she was estatic to have been given an opportunity to compete at Against All Odds. VKM barged in, BG got sick of Kip's attitude and walked off as Kip continued to make fun of Christy and Leticia. Don't break up VKM.

A video package was shown to hype the Motor City Chain match between AJ Styles and Rhino at Against All Odds.

In the back, Jeremy Borash caught up with AJ Styles and Christian Cage who basically talked about how much better they are then Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. After some cocky words from them, Bob Backlund stepped in and stared down Borash. Okay?

Match Two - James Storm, Chris Sabin and The Austin Starr w/ Miss Tennessee vs. Jerry Lynn, "The War Machine" Rhino and Senshi

Raven and Serotonin watched on. As was to be expected, this one broke down with Sabin catching Senshi off guard, allowing The Austin Starr to hit a brainbuster for the win.

Winners Via Pinfall - James Storm, Chris Sabin and The Austin Starr

We were sent to a video package of Kevin Nash trying to earn the trust of Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt. He told them that they needed to be totally made over and that he could get them merchandise deals like they wouldn't believe. Dutt and Lethal were leery, but Nash told them to just trust him as took a drag on his pipe. Ha ha.

A commercial was shown hyping the TNA Primetime special on Monday, Feb 12 on Spike TV. Sweet deal for TNA.

Jeremy Borash was in the back when he ran into Traci Brooks and Eric Young. Brooks was in a bra and skirt rubbing down Young. She told him to bring the stuff on their trip, she kissed Young and told him she loved him. Borash asked Young if he could do it, and Young said he could because she loved him. I still don't get why Robert Roode got so much hype only to lose several times in a row.

Sting came out wearing an Abyss mask. He unveiled a cage with James Mitchell in it. This infuriated Abyss who came down and beat on Sting, smashing his head against the cage with a steel chair and freeing Mitchell. The two stood tall as Sting laid motionless in the ring.

Another Christopher Daniels vignette was shown, with Daniels trying to find himself. A poster was shown for Rocky VII starring Ron "The Truth" Killings. Ugh. In the back Jeremy Borash was with Dale Torborg and AJ Pierzynski who ran down Lance Hoyt. Johnny Damon attacked from behind laying out Torborg. Lance Hoyt followed Damon and then proceeded to put the bad mouth on Pierzynski, before walking off with the Yankee centerfielder. This was cool if nothing else.

Match Three - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "Captain Charisma" Christian Cage vs. Kurt Angle and "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe

This was a good main event, but due to the commercials and such, it fell short. If it was given a PPV slot it could've been much better. The end came when Rhino made his way down and attacked Styles. This gave Angle the opportunity to hit the Olympic Slam from the top rope and get the pin. Afterwards, Rhino, Joe and Angle celebrated until a hooded individual hit the ring and attacked Rhino and Joe with a led pipe. Angle unmasked the attacker only to find out it was Scott Steiner. Cage and Styles attacked from behind and laid out Angle as we were sent to the Impact Recap, closing out another action packed Impact.

Chris Sokol is from Long Island, NY and can't believe one of the biggest feuds of Lance Hoyt's career involves him going up against AJ Pierzynski.
