Impact: Santa, pogo sticks and an ankle lock
By CHRIS SOKOL - SLAM! Wrestling

After nearly tearing down the Impact Zone on the last Impact, Kurt Angle is back and prepared to once again meet Samoa Joe. On top of that, Sting will be in action and will have the NWA title with him. Plus the re-return of Team 3D. Could Impact possible have the proper formula for success, or will questionable booking once again drag down a potenially excellent show?

The show began with a recap of the last edition of Impact. The Kurt Angle segments were excellent, great work for an otherwise "decent" Impact.

Match One - Kazarian w/ Matt Bentley and Johnny Devine vs. Sting

Sting pretty much cleaned house on the whole group, so much for an impressive Impact debut. Sting was able to fend off Bentley and Devine long enough to hit the Scorpion Deathdrop and pick up the win on Kazarian. Afterwards, Sting grabbed the mic and said that he would give Abyss the title back at the end of the show if Abyss gave him a rematch, he also told Abyss to come alone and not bring Father James Mitchell.

Winner Via Pinfall - Sting

The Impact intro came on as the X Division stars gave out candy and other gifts. Mike Tenay and Don West joined us at ringside and ran down what was on tap. West put over the Ankle Lock by sporting a cast; he also said he has found a new respect for wrestlers who have taken that move.

In the back, Jeremy Borash interviewed "The War Machine" Rhino who said that he was going to break "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles in half. Kurt Angle barged in and said how he was going to give Samoa Joe a reason to give him a rematch. The Angle/Joe feud is another example of how TNA can do some things the right way and have them come out splendidly.

Clips were shown of Raven caning Kazarian after his loss to Sting.

In the back again, Eric Young told Jeremy Borash that Ms. Brooks wanted a rematch for the Bikini Contest. Young was enthralled in his usual goofy antics as Team 3D walked in. They asked Borash if they he remembered them. Team 3D says that they haven't forgotten what The Naturals did to them and they promised that payback was coming their way. This makes no sense, The Naturals and Team 3D haven't done anything on Impact in about a month and then they come back out of nowhere and go right back into their feud. Ugh.

Match Two - Tables Match - Team 3D (Brother Ray and Brother Devon) vs. The Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens) w/ "The Franchise" Shane Douglas

The Naturals were overwhelmed here, with Team 3D taking out every ounce of their frustration on them. Andy Douglas took the Bubba Bomb through the table to end the match. After the match "The Franchise" Shane Douglas took the mic and told The Naturals that the experiment was over. Break up AMW and then break up The Naturals immediately after. Ugh again.

Winners Via Putting Their Opponents Through A Table - Team 3D

Borash was outside of Samoa Joe's locker room when Tomko ran up asking where the production truck was, because he had a DVD he wanted them to play.

In the ring, Ron "The Truth" Killings and Lance Hoyt were joined by the X Division stars who handed out more presents as Killings rapped and Hoyt danced. Ha ha.

The PCS continued with a Pogo Contest. The Big Dick Johnson character did some jumps. Sonjay Dutt did a bunch which led to more steroid allegations. In the end Austin Starr had ten points and was leading the competition, while Alex Shelley was trailing with eight points.

Santa Claus came out to hand out more presents when LAX interrupted him. Santa told them that they weren't being very nice, only for LAX to attack and reveal Santa as Brother Runt. The X Division stars hit the ring and made the save, chasing LAX to the back. Good keeping with the holiday spirit, hopefully this sets something up for down the line between the X Stars and LAX.

VKM was shown traveling to a WWE House Show. They basically wreaked what they considered havoc and got nothing down. Why does TNA keep sending them on these pointless missions? They are a great tag team, let them wrestle! Quit making them do these stupid skits that are going to land them nowehere.

Borash was outside of Samoa Joe's locker room, when he caught up with AJ Styles. Styles said that Rhino stuck his nose where it didn't belong and he was going to pay for it. Samoa Joe came in and said that he was going to make Kurt Angle wish he never asked for a rematch. Two feuds coming together prefectly.

Shane Douglas delivered a message on not smoking.

A package highlighting AMW was shown, which sent us to an interview Mike Tenay conducted with James Storm. Storm told Tenay flat out that this wasn't over until he looked directly at Harris and told him what he really thought about him. AMW has broken up too many times before, this is just the same feud with a little twist.

"The Monster" Abyss came out alone, followed by Sting. Sting told Abyss that he needs to stop worrying about his past. Christian Cage popped up on the TNA tron along with Tomko and revealed a little bit about Abyss' past, a heavily guarded prison. Tenay jumped to the conclusion that Abyss had been in prison. Abyss then choked Sting and the two began to brawl. Security hit the ring. Tomko came out, Cage came out dressed as a security guard and attacked Sting. Father James Mitchell came out to yell at Abyss. Abyss came back into the ring and used Sting's bat to clean house on Tomko and Cage. Abyss then handed the bat over to Sting as Mitchell continued to yell at him. This angle has also been running fairly well.

Back from commercial, Mike Tenay and Don West recapped what happened between Abyss and Sting and how Father James Mitchell is losing control over "The Monster."

Match Three - "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and "The Samoan Submission Machine" Samoa Joe vs. "The War Machine" Rhino and Kurt Angle

This was an all out brawl. Joe and Angle went at it all over the Impact Zone, fighting on the floor and trading punch for punch, as Styles and Rhino went at it in the ring. Back and forth action with Angle breaking up Joe's attempt at a rear naked choke on Rhino, with the Olympic Slam. Styles was able to roll Rhino up and hook the tights, giving his team the win. After the match, Rhino and Styles fought back to the lockeroom as Angle and Joe continued to go at it. Angle was able to knock Joe down and lock in the Ankle Lock as Impact came to an end.
