Raw: Estrada F-U'd, Umaga goes nuts
DALE PLUMMER -- SLAM! Wrestling
Another week; another pay per view, that's three in four weeks, but it's Smackdown only, and doesn't concern us as Monday Night RAW comes to us from the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.
RAW gets down do business right away with John Cena taking on Armando Alejandro Estrada.
Match # 1 -- John Cena vs. Armando Alejandro Estrada
Without Umaga at his call, Estrada tries to bargain his way out of the match. First he offers Cuban cigars, that the champ breaks. He follows with a nice watch, which Cena also destroys, and then cold hard cash. Cena takes the money, and tosses the c-notes into the crowd.
Cena pushes Estrada into the corner, and rips off his shirt. Estrada tries to hit Cena with brass knucks, but the champ blocks him, and rips the weapon out of his hand. After a series of chops and punches, Estrada staggers into an F-U.
Winner by pinfall: John Cena
After the match, Cena locks in the STF-U, but Johnny Nitro runs in to break it up with a kick to the champ's head. Nitro backs up the ramp, as Melina hands him a mike. Nitro announces he is training Kevin Federline (tick, tick, tick ... Hey, K-Fed that's your 15 minutes coming to an end.)
After the break, Todd Grisham gets a word with Cena. The champ doesn't want to comment; instead he challenges Nitro to a match.
Match #2 -- Jerry "The King" Lawler and Carlito vs. Chris Masters and Viscera
Lawler and Masters lock up, with the King then dodging a punch. Masters tags in Vis, who misses a charge in the corner. Lawler shoots off the ropes, right into an elbow. Lawler then runs into a sit-down power bomb, but Carlito breaks the pin. Masters tags in, hitting a suplex. Carlito gets the hot tag, and takes the big man off his feet with a springboard back elbow. Carlito drop kicks Masters, but walks into a sidewalk slam for Viscera. The King enters and is whipped into the corner, where he is splashed by Vis. Carlito slips out of a Masterlock attempt and rolls up Viscera, as King tosses Masters from the ring.
Winner via pinfall: Jerry "The King" Lawler and Carlito
After the break, Cryme Tyme is "teaching" The Highlanders three card Monty. Charlie Haas steps in and derides Cryme Tyme for perpetuating racial stereotypes. JTG takes out his grillz and offers a rebuttal, when Shelton Benjamin offers up his displeasure. Benji then announces the The World's Greatest Tag Team is back! Haas tells the Highlanders that they will be the first victims.
Team RKO formulates a plan when Kenny interrupts. He wants to know if he proved himself. Orton doesn't give him any credit, and Edge tells him to watch and learn.
Match #3 -- The World's Greatest Tag Team vs. The Highlanders
Rory and Haas fight to the corner, where Robby tags in. Benji kick Robby in the back from the apron. Haas and Benjamin then double-team Robby. Shelton follows with a suplex, and slams Robby across Haas' knee. Shelton tags back in, and locks Robby in an abdominal stretch. Robby frees himself with side Russian leg sweep. Rory gets the tag, but runs into a boot from Benji. Shelton then kicks Robby from the ring. Haas hangs Rory on the ropes, has Benjamin leap frogs over his partner onto Rory. Haas rolls him up for the win.
Winner via pinfall: The World's Greatest Tag Team
Match #4 -- Edge vs. Triple H
Trips takes down Edge with a clothesline, and the fight spills to the outside. HHH hits a running elbow on the apron. A thumb to the eye slows down Hunter, but a high knee to Edge regains the advantage. Triple H knocks Edge to the floor, and then chases him up the ramp. Orton joins the fun, as HBK runs in to even the odds. Kenny joins the party, with Ric Flair hot on his heels to get some retribution. Coach walks out to stop the nonsense, and orders a six-man tag match.
Match #4 -- Edge, Randy Orton, and Kenny vs. Triple H, HBK, and Ric Flair
After the break, Hunter nails a standing vertical suplex on Kenny. Hunter then smashes his head into Michaels' boots. Shawn tags in, stomping on Kenny. Flair tags in taking to the fight to Edge with punches and chops. A drop kick from Orton stops a figure four on Edge. Orton tags in and stomps on Flair. Flair is beat down in the corner by Edge. Flair fights out of a rear chin lock with chops, and then chops Edge out of mid-air as he came off the turnbuckle. HBK gets the hot tag, and it's atomic drops for everyone! Michaels drops the elbow off the turnbuckle on Edge, and starts to warm up the band. Sweet Chin Music sends Edge to the mat, but Orton hits an RKO on HBK.
After the break, Orton and Michaels are exchanging chops and punched. A swinging neck breaker sends Orton to the mat. Edge climbs the turnbuckle, but catches nothing but air, as HBK dodges a cross body. Triple H tags in, and punches away at Kenny. Edge gets his, as Orton makes the save. HHH tosses Orton and Edge to the outside, and hit Kenny with a spine buster. The Nature Boy in for a figure four. Team RKO re-enters, but DX takes care of them. Kenny sets up a figure four, but Flair counters with a roll up.
Winner via pinfall: Edge, Randy Orton, and Kenny
After the match, Edge spears HHH, and Orton works over HBK. Triple H makes the save
with the sledge, as Team RKO slink up the ramp.
Melina and Nitro are talking with K-Fed over the phone. (And yes K-Fed is stuck at home watching RAW.) They run down Cena, when Coach comes in and tells Nitro he will face Jeff Hardy at New Years Revolution for the IC Title in a steel Cage. They leave K-Fed hanging on the phone, and Ron Simmons only has one thing to say, "DAMN!"
Torrie is worried about her match with Victoria. Carlito plants her with a big kiss for good luck.
Match #5 -- Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria
Another RAW, another Diva for Victoria to check off her list. Before the Widow's Peak, though, Victoria bites off one of Torrie's fingernails.
Winner via pinfall: Victoria
After the match, Chris Masters hits the ring and puts Torrie in the Masterlock. Carlito and Lawler chase Masters from the ring.
Match #6 -- Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga
Jim Ross plays up the fact
that without Estrada there is no one to control Umaga. Hardy goes for a sunset flip, but can't get the big man over. Hardy does avoid getting crushed, though. An elbow sends Jeff to the mat. Hardy dodges a splash, as Umaga face slams into the ring post. Hardy follows with a whisper in the wind, but cannot get the pin as the match goes to commercial.
Returning from break, Umaga swats Jeff away as he comes off the apron. Hardy fights his way out of a hold, but runs into a clothesline for his effort. Umaga climbs the turnbuckle, but Hardy rolls out of the way to avoid the splash. Jeff hits the swanton bomb, but only gets a two count. Umaga blocks a Twist of Fate, and counters with a Samoan Drop. Hardy is whipped into the corner, and Umaga hits a diving head butt. Umaga follows by crashing into Hardy in the corner, twice. The ref then calls the match, as Hardy can no longer continue.
Winner via knockout: Umaga
After the match, Umaga crashes into Hardy again. He then hits the ref with the Samoan Spike. He then picks up Jeff and hits him with the Samoan Spike.
Match #7 -- John Cena vs. Nitro
The champ wastes no time, jumping Nitro as soon as he gets in the ring. A clothesline sends Nitro to the mat. Nitro gets an elbow up to counter a charge from Cena. Nitro shoots off the
ropes, into a big boot. Cena hits a fisherman's suplex, and Melina pulls Nitro from the ring. On the outside, Cena hits a clothesline, and backs Melina into the security barrier. Back in the ring, Cena works over Nitro in the corner. Nitro takes Cena down and pins him, but the ref catches Nitro using the ropes for leverage. Cena sets up the F-U, but Nitro rakes the eyes to get free. Cena is whipped into the ring steps, and rolled back into the ring. Cena reverses a suplex, hanging Nitro on the ropes. A low bridge sends the champ to the floor. Nitro and Cena trade punches back in the ring. Nitro hits a thumb to the eye, and then locks in a sleeper hold. Cena stands up, and drops to his back to break the hold. Nitro locks in another sleeper, but the champ gets to his feet. Melina grabs Cena's leg, allowing Nitro to hit a face buster. Nitro climbs the turnbuckle, and hits a corkscrew moonsault. Cena fights back, hitting a clothesline. The champ nails a side slam, and follows
up with the five-knuckle shuffle. Cena hits the F-U, and gets the pin.
Winner via pinfall: John Cena
